School Admissions :(

My DD is on the waiting list for the school her older sister attends. We have recently found out that a lot of places have been offered to people who have cheated the system. One person has lied about their address and pretended that they live at their grandparents' home, which happens to be in catchment.

The admissions officer told us that they would investigate but if the parent concerned told them that they intended to move there before September, the place would not be withdrawn! They said that they did not have the resources to investigate any further. There are 33 of us on the waiting list at this moment in time.

I just needed to rant as I feel so let down by the system.

I really feel for you as this happens all of the time and genuine people and their kids miss out. I hope you are able to get what you want for yours, it does make me cross that people will do this sort of thing.


You could push your case and go to the Governors of the school to flag this with them and ruffle some feathers, is this an LA school or an academy?

Its a Primary Community School. It might be a good idea to flag this up with the governors of the school - thanks.

No, because we are 30 metres out of catchment! It's like this:

1. Children in care
2. Children in catchment, with siblings
3. Children in catchment
4. Children out of catchment with siblings*
5. Children out of catchment

Thanks. A lot of LA's put siblings before catchment but not Warwickshire unfortunately
