Lime Green.. is this the thing of the past?

My last trip I wore a LGMH on my cross body bag, but nobody said anything to me. It would have been nice to have a chat with a couple DIS members around the parks. I also didn't notice anyone with a LGMH in the parks.

I did, however, notice them in people's resort room windows. We are at POP on our last vacation and I saw them as decoration in people's windows, which was nice!

I'll have one with me again this year while I'm out and about - please don't be shy! And ... I'm nice, definitely won't snap at anyone!

BTW - The LGMH are in abundance at The Home Depot's in and around Toronto if anyone is looking in the area!

I hope they still have those LGMH at my home depot. I saw them before but didn't pick any up because I have no reason to- we didn't have any Disney trip planned. Now that we do, I would like to get one of those. :earsboy: When I have time today, I'll check it out, if they are still have them.

This is a nice size LGMH. :thumbsup2

Funny thing...I've been on these boards since before there was a LGMH! It used to just be lime green - most people did ribbon or a shirt. Seems like a loooooong time ago! :)

I made my own LGMH on our trip in January and attached it to my bag in the parks. Nobody said hi and I didn't notice anybody else who was a DISer. Maybe it was because it was a slow time of year? We are going in October for F&W and FD this year so hopefully we will see more DISers! Maybe I will even decorate our window. :thumbsup2

I am a DISigner on the Creative Boards forum and people continue to request lime green Mickey heads with their forum names quite regularly.

Had mine on my backpack last trip and a woman rushing by in SOARIN' line grabbed in and said "I DIS too!" We had no time to chat but it was nice that it was acknowledged!!

Same here.. I honesty don't remember the start of "LGMH". I've been away from the DIS for some years. What I did before LGMH was to wear a lime green ribbon pinned to my shirt and one pinned to my backpack and that was it. A nice lady did come up to me and asked me if I was from the DIS, her name was Colleen and we met at the Polynesian gift shop.

I have never had anyone notice my LGMH but I keep hoping. I promise to be friendly!
I will say hello if I see you. :)

When I was there this past Nov/Dec I saw a leather lime green Mickey head key chain hanging in that little kiosk in Canada. They engraved my name on it and I plan to hang it on my park bag now. It's really cute, plus it's lime green.

I'll have to look for one for myself. Thanks for the info.

I seldom stop when I see the LGMH anymore. While I got many nice responses from people, I also got more than a few not so nice responses. The way I figure it is if you tie a LGMH onto your backpack, you should probably expect strangers to come up to you and chat!!! So, why be nasty when someone does just that??? Yep, had that experience more than once. So now? I just keep to myself.

same here... i finally spotted a lime green mickey head on one of my trips - i approached in a very friendly manner and she snootily acknowledged she was a DISer and then i got snubbed! i was so embarrassed and i don't think i can bring myself to approach another LGMH wearer again :(

on the other hand, i always forget to bring/wear one. i am noting on my list of "things to do" to make sure i remember this time... so, if anyone wants to approach me i will welcome it :)

looks like we will be there at the same time! say hi if you see me, lol!! we are decorating our window and door too!!

In April we took the Hawaiian cruise and spent a few days at DL before. Both my husband and myself had the line green Mickey heads from Home Depot on the front of our shirts and no one came us to us and I know that there had to be a lot of Disboarders there because there were over 200 on the cruise that I know of.

I'll definitely look for you. We are arriving October 19th and now I will make sure I decorate our window! :goodvibes I promise to be friendly if I do see you. I don't know why people would bother wearing them if they didn't want to be chatted up!

I'll have my LGMH (that I made myself) on my backpack. If anyone wants to say hi, I promise I'll be friendly! :wave2:

Yep, same here :goodvibes. I love it when other DISers come up to me, and I don't mind going up to others that have them too. My whole family proudly displays our LGMHs on each of our suit cases plus on our backpack for the parks.

awesome, we arrive on the 17th and are staying at AoA in LM!!

I spotted a LGMH when I was there about 5 years ago (and had one on my own backpack), the other family and I chatted very briefly about being on the Dis but were heading in opposite directions for ADRs so it was a very short conversation. But nice!

I also approached a car in the pick-up line at my daughter's school which had a bumper sticker that included a LGMH and asked if they were posters on the Disboards. Unfortunately, the mom was not - it was just a bumper sticker she had bought somewhere - so she probably thinks I am crazy now. :lmao: Oh well.

We will be there next week...I probably won't have any lime green anything, but I'm easy to spot. I will be pushing DS in a wheelchair and he is bald...not too many kids who are bald out there. He still looks pretty much like the pic I have here. Stop and say hi if you see us!

Emerging from a *very* long lurk to post here, as we're gearing up for another of our infrequent trips to WDW, and thought I'd check up on the lime green status.

I believe when I was first on this forum (planning for our honeymoon trip in May of 2001), was when the "lime green" thing was first being discussed. At the time, it was just a ribbon; there were many discussions on where to buy lime green ribbon, as it wasn't as popular a color then as it has become in more recent years. Interesting to see that it has morphed to be a Mickey head!

And my fun story, our first night we went to the (now-departed) Disney Villains Character Dinner, wearing our wedding ears, mine decorated with a lime green ribbon bow. Captain Hook came to our table, and in mime indicated that he liked my ribbon. I told him it was to signify participation in this message board. He took a napkin and wrote, "I <3 Lime Green!" - which told me all I needed to know. I think I still have that napkin somewhere. And my old carry-on bag still has the lime green ribbon on it.

Glad to see the tradition has survived all these years! We'll be there in early December; I'll try to be wearin' the (lime) green in some form or other!

I will also be there in early December, and I always wear many lime green Mickey heads on my fanny pack. Stop and say "Hello" if you see me.
(I have flaming red hair). I don't often see the lime green, but when I do, I will stop to say Hi.
