Hello! I'm new to the forum and have a question. We know the new rates/itineraries for 2014 are not out yet and will not be out until October. However, I've heard that if you can book on the day the rates are released, you can save a fair amount of money.

We have a family of 5 and will either do the 8D family stateroom or two connecting ocean views.

Did anyone book a 7-night caribbean cruise 18 months in advance for a family of 5? If so, would you mind sharing your approximate fare? We want to decide whether the pricing is in our ballpark. Thanks in advance!

We booked a 7 night Fantasy for June 2013 22 months in advance while on board in August of 2011. Two inside (11A) connecting staterooms cost us around $6500 for 5 adults (our kids are in their 20s).

There are 4 of us (me, my son - 16, my mom, and my yougest brother - also 16) sailing this August. I booked an 8C in early February 2011 for $5,330 (final payment was reduced for some reason, making the total an even $5,300). As of right now, that same cabin would be $6,895. I can't remember what the price was when 2012 prices were first released but I don't think it was much cheaper, if at all, than what I booked at.

Of course, prices and how quickly they increase vary by cruise date as well as by stateroom category. But I've read time and again... and it seems to hold true... book as EARLY as you can.

For 2A2K we booked the Fantasy MV in January 2011 and the price for our category increased $2,128.00 before it sold out in a few months. The different categories increased various amounts from $3,843.00 for a cat 5B to $5,082.84 for a cat 4A from January to October when I stopped keeping track. The 3/23/13 Fantasy 5C booked opening day is now $5100 more [spring break cruise some think had a pricing error] but the 6/29/13 Fantasy room booked the same day has 4 & 5s that have only increased $800. Both of those dates are now within $200 for the same room cats. The concierge rooms have not increased a cent.

Thanks everyone! This is really helpful. We are so excited to book a cruise, but the cost seems so high! Hopefully, booking early will help.

I am not on the Fantasy, but I booked about 9 months ahead for our Alaska trip (long after opening day, but still a good amount early) and if we logged on to buy the same exact room today, it would be $600 more. :thumbsup2
