Lime Green.. is this the thing of the past?

I had my LGMH on my backpack and only had one person asked me about it. It was not the LGMH that cought her attention but becuse she was a fellow Canadian and the maple leaf I put on it. When I explained to her about the DIS and the LGMH's she told me she was on the Dis boards all the time and never heard about the LGMHs.

This year I plan to add the Dis Boards logo to my Mickey head and I'll pin one on my hat with all my other Disney pins.

Good idea! I'll make a homemade lime green mickey head and I will put "DIS" on it and have my screen name "*Fantasia*" on it as well.. I will have it on my backpack and I will also have it around my side belt loop and let it dangle a little.. so they can see it from the back and the front. :) Hopefully someone from the DIS will come up to me so we can introduce ourselves.

I'll be there next week, and I will have a LGMH on my backpack. It will be just me and the kids, and I would love to say have a chat with any fellow Dis members! :woohoo:

I seldom stop when I see the LGMH anymore. While I got many nice responses from people, I also got more than a few not so nice responses. The way I figure it is if you tie a LGMH onto your backpack, you should probably expect strangers to come up to you and chat!!! So, why be nasty when someone does just that??? Yep, had that experience more than once. So now? I just keep to myself.

I had a somewhat similar experience. I went solo in 2009 for the Tower of Terror 13K. Some nice people on the Events/Competition subforum of the WISH forum told me to say Hi and run with them if I wanted. They said just talk with anyone in the WISH shirts. Well, the WISHers were in a circle and grouped, and I tried talking to several. The ones I talked to before the race and the one during the race were rather rude. One was rather nasty, as in how dare you talk to me, complete stranger! So I never tried to talk to WISHers again. Just run solo.

Oh.. that's terrible. I guess they only recognize their own "cliques".
I'll make sure to avoid them. Oh.. I think I will put on my lime green mickey head-- "I'm friendly!" :) This way they know that I am not a b!%$h to talk to. :goodvibes

I always wear about 6 of those Home Depot Mickey Heads at the same time. I put them all over my fanny pack, dangled with little key chains.
On an average 7 days in the parks, I run into about 2 DIS'ers per vacation.

Of course, I ran into a WHOLE LOT more DIS'ers when we had the party over at Toy Story Mania Ride !!!

What a wonderful time that was !!!!

I swear I was drunk with JOY !!!

Its kind of funny, Fantasia, DR and I were just talking about how much things have changed at WDW and on the boards and we started remembering some of the old group (you, PeterPirate, WaltsFrozenHead, Landbaron, Chad, Greg, Planogirl, OnWithTheShow). We go through phases now of reading/posting with months between visits. I saw PeterPirate on the boards no too long ago and Planogirl is still active, but we've lost touch with most of the others. Seriously though - we had just mentioned you and I saw you on here about a week later.

I'll usually get more active here when we're getting close to a trip of after we get back, but we don't do meets or anything. We don't signal ourselves at all and don't seek out anyone else. We've met a couple of folks through the Star Wars Weekends threads, but its more for Star Wars.

As for the DIS, this old grey mare ain't what she used to be :sad2:

 That is so jank!

Ha! If ever you and I are there at the same time, please stop me .... I will gladly stop for a quick chat :goodvibes

We had our LGMH on our back pack last year and nobody said hi nor did we notice any others around. It was during FD so I'm sure there were lots of DISers there! LOL

I agree with some of the pp, if you don't want anyone to speak to you, then don't advertise you are on here. To me, that is the reason to put your LGMH in sight, to be noticed. I would be glad to chat to anyone who introduced themselves and I would also presume that one wanted me to say hi if I saw theirs.

Oh well, people are weird. :confused3

Hi Melissa! I just started to post again because I am planning a trip next year. But.. I may be able to squeeze a quick budget trip this August. It has been a long time since I was active here.. you know a daily DISer. Since I didn't have any trip planned since 2005, I kind of totally abandoned the DIS. It was too painful to see folks taking their trips while I can't. So I stayed away for long time. But... I'm back!!

Things sure has changed over the years.. I'm so glad that the old timers like you and me are still here! :goodvibes (occasionally when we have trips coming)

I'm sorry that your experience wasn't positive.. You can be assured that if you ever see my lime tag, and you come up to me, I will welcome you and have a friendly chat with you! :)

Same here.. I'm very approachable. I don't have fangs and claws! :lmao: Just a cute smile. :)

DW and I had the same bad experience -- we recognized a LGMH in the line for BTMMR in front of us, and when DW said "Hey another Dis'r" the response back was "Do i know you, do you post in my threads, why would i care if you were on the Dis or not?"

as the "dis'r" didn't have a name tag we had no idea who they were or wheter we posted on their threads or not..

I suspect that a lot of people come here to find out how to get free things, and think the LGMH will help with that and thats all.

I'm just surprised that they are rude and mean like that.. It make me think that they are the ones who like to stir things up around here..

I'm sorry bdoyledimou that it happened to you too.

Wow. That is crazy that someone would react like that. I was able to find some LGMH at my HD because we are decorating our room and door. We were planning on figuring out a way to make some buttons out of them as well to wear while we are there.

I like the idea of putting the maple leaf on them and maybe the DIS logo or username though. I am a friendly person by nature so I usually strike up conversation with most people while we are waiting in lines. :goodvibes

I had the LGMH on my backpack and my purse this past April and no one said hi. I also looked for other DISers, but didn't see any. I did meet a fellow DISer one year in the food line at Flame Tree in AK when I offered to help carry their food since she was in a wheel chair and her DH had a cane. We ended up sitting rather close and chatted off an on while eating our meal. She gave me a LGMH with her Dis name and her website on it.:goodvibes

I cannot believe someone would advertise the fact that they're on the DIS and then not want to at least say hi when someone approached them let alone going so far as to be rude!! That makes no sense to me.:confused3 So sorry it happened to several of you.:sad2:

I used to attach a GIANT (like size of my head) LGMH to DD's stroller. It had my screen name on one side and "DISboards Rock!" on the other side. I was approached a couple times, once by a DISer I knew which was awsome! (MrFDNY).

I haven't done that a while, but I did randomly talk with a few DISers at the park!:goodvibes

You'd think that someone with a LGMH would want to chat! People are so weird.

A friend and I play "Spot the DISer" in WDW. We see someone we think is a DISer. If we are able to chat them up and find out, we get (or lose) a point. There are many stupid rules to our game. LGMHs are an automatic point. :)

I still have 4 unused lime green Mickey heads from Home Depot's paint department. I guess I better take real good care of them!
Home Depot must have finally gotten tired of people like me who picked up 8 at a time. :rolleyes1

I bet my Home Depot would have wished that I only picked up 8 at a time!!!!

Same here!:rotfl: In our Home Depot the paint samples are right across from the counter where the guy mixes up paint. When I walked in and made a bee line to the Mickey Head samples, he always laughed and made a comment about "going to WDW again?":rotfl: He is really nice and a few times they'd be running low and he'd say "let me see if we have any underneath in the cabinet" then he'd give me a whole handful telling me to keep them for the next trip as no one ever really wanted them to use as real paint samples anyway. Thankfully, I still have a bunch. I use a couple each trip. I write very small anyway, so always write my ADRs, times, and confirmation numbers on a couple, cut them out, laminate them together back to back, poke a hole in an ear, and put a luggage tag thingy through it, then hang it on my park bag. It makes it easy to identify me as a DISer, plus keeps my ADRs handy.

When I was there this past Nov/Dec I saw a leather lime green Mickey head key chain hanging in that little kiosk in Canada. They engraved my name on it and I plan to hang it on my park bag now. It's really cute, plus it's lime green.

I can't beleive that they would advertise they were on here and then not want to talk. That is definitely very rude!
I will have my LGMH this year for sure and I will make sure the family does also! NOw just to figure out how to attach it to my stroller without it bothering DH.

I have to say that my dd is the queen of spotting the LGMHs!!! She can spot one at 20 yds!!! It's really funny.
I will most likely have one hanging off me someplace when I go in early Dec. Since I haven't seen anything DIS-sponsored going on, there probably won't be nearly as many DISers there as usual. But, I will say hi to those with them on. Stop and say hi if you see me!!!
