I want to hear more about the psycho couple from the Magic, lol

Seriously though. Enjoying your report.

Thanks!

Would love to see pictures of your balcony.......more conceirge offerings.....the conceirge deck and to hear about any excursions you did!
We are on deck 12 in Dec conceirge and are loving your report!
Also want to hear more about the psycho couple!! ha !:rotfl:
Debsx

I have photos of EVERYTHING!!! I just have to get through them and resize them. But I'll have them for you ASAP.

Are you starboard on your December cruise? We were and liked the views we had. Deck 12 is very nice - convenient to the lounge and very quiet. Except I could hear some base in the evenings. I never found the source - thought maybe the gym? Deck 12 Forward is near the spa and adult areas so we found it very convenient. Thanks for reading!

Looking forward to more! We are in 12012 Concierge on the Fantasy next year..our first cruise ever!

A bit dismayed at the luggage/check-in snafu. There should be a distinct and completely seperate check in line for Concierge. It's something that we paid for to avoid the usual boarding lines and hassle. To run into it anyway suggests they haven't really considered their Concierge passangers....

You took it well. I would have been VERY upset!!!

There is a separate concierge check in area. They just seemed to be prejudging who should be in the concierge check in area and making it very difficult to to get in. Maybe they had problems with non-concierge guests getting in line. But it is clearly marked concierge. It just was strange.

I don't know how to describe it. but for example my Dad left the concierge check in area to look at the model of the ship. When he came back the castmember didn't even remember him from 2 minutes before and asked him what his room number was before letting him back in the concierge check in area. Well my dad had no clue what our room numbers were. So he was stuck until my sister rescued him.

They just made it seem like we didn't belong there when we did - it was weird.

So you want to know about our psycho couple from our table on the Magic last year? popcorn::

Well, I'm not one to gossip, so you didn't hear it from me, but there is at least one completely crazy person out there and she and her husband may be seated by you someday.

This couple was probably assigned our table on the Magic last year because we had similar ages and her husband was celebrating a birthday on the cruise, I was and the Scotish wife was as well. But our similarities pretty much ended there.

On our first night on the Magic, my sister and I again got our luggage after 5pm (we are cursed when it comes to luggage on the DCL), so we rushed to unpack and changed for dinner. We got in line at Animator's Palate and we were led to a table that looked like it was entirely full. I couldn't even see the empty seat in the middle of two men with their backs to me. Sis and I were stuck across from each other in the middle.

To my left was the Scotish couple and across from them were the sisters from Buffalo. They had both stayed at the same resort before the cruise and were already laughing about the coincidence. To my right was the Stockholm Syndrome husband and to sister's left was the woman who could have a Lifetime movie based on her. Folks say I have the gift of gab and can generally talk to anyone about anything, but this couple were a real challenge for me and when you are on vacation, you don't want a challenge like this.

So the Scot to my left at one point turns to make introductions and says he works on deep sea oil rigs and askes what I do. I'm a fundraiser for an environmental organization and formerly worked as a marine mammal trainer/aquarist. Commence awkward silence. We're actually great friends now but it was a less than fabulous beginning.

The crazy couple tell me how they met, online, her using someone else's photo. She has a long list of allergies including shelfish and then she orders the shrimp appetizer. She has to have the menu for the next night brought to her at dinner so she can make her selections. She and her husband order multiple dishes each course. She drinks but doesn't allow her husband to drink. She verbally abuses and demeans him throughout the meal and is abusive towards our servers. She complains to the head server that our assistant server doesn't smile enough (we all made possitive comments at the end of the cruise to try to make up for it - we thought he was great, just had a quiet personality).

We tell the crazy couple that we are having dinner the next night in Topsiders or Cabanas on the Magic because we just made manicure appointments in the spa and they conflict with dinner. Crazy woman knows EVERYTHING about DCL and has been on MANY cruises and since this was our first, crazy lady assures us we know nothing. She tells us that you can't get dinner at topsiders. It is only buffet breakfast and lunch. I tell her that I read that it is sit down and you can order from a selection from the various main dinning rooms. She tells me I'm wrong.

Anyway the second night, Sister and I have a great time in the spa - the girls on the Magic were such fun in the Vista Spa. And then we have a nice dinner at Topsiders - beautiful view as we leave Key West and great dinners - steak and seafood were the options as I recall. One got steak and one got a fish dish and we split - surf and turf. I had a nice glass of wine. It was really pleasant.

Meanwhile, in one of the main dinning rooms, our table mates were learning what we sat by all the last night. Many rude comments were made - this crazy woman is really mean in what she says - I always think it is a sign of a really insecure person. And the abuse to the husband who just takes it is so awkward to be around. Well, the sisters from Buffalo and the Scotish couple now realize what horrible people we were stuck talking to and think we have run off, never to have dinner again there. They decide to try to hunt us down to beg us to return to the table.

I would have happily never returned to our table that cruise, but sister really wanted to experience Lumiere's and we brought nice dresses for the formal night so I said I would go but we were going to get there early and going to sit next to each other! Me on the end! I have to be nice to horrible people all the time at work in fundraising, I don't want to do it on vacation!

That night, the third night, we got to know the Scotish couple and the sisters better and really had some great laughs. Turns out we got along really really well together. The crazy couple on the end remained the crazy couple on the end throughout the cruise.

Everynight they gave the servers a hard time, while we joked and laughed. She had the head server bring her special menus and then order two of everything and three of every dessert.

The night they went to Palo for dinner they came to join us after their dinner and made the servers bring them dinner - this was when the restaurant was already breaking down for the night.

On my birthday I was at Palo but the next night the servers brought the birthday cake - which were big sheet cakes on the Magic last year - and I had Jason, our wonderful server, cut everyone a slice. The next night it was the Scottish lass' (who looks just like the star of Brave) birthday and she shared with everyone. Next night was the abused husband's and after we sang happy birthday, the wife got up with the entire cake and walked out.

On the last sea day this made-for-reality-tv couple won the jackpot bingo. I happened to run into them right after on deck and congratulated them and said that "dinner is on you tonight then". She got really wierd and didn't seem to get the joke that dinner is free. She told the table that night that they had thought about buying a bottle of champagne for the table but then decided not to.

"So put that in your head and let it roll around." That is one of the catchphrases the crazy woman used. I'm still letting it roll around.

Oh and just to add - once onboard the concierge team was fantasic. They were so friendly and open. We had some good laughs with all of them. We probably got to know Andy and Julia the best since they seemed to be in lounge when we were but PJ was really great also. I can't say enough good things about them!

Excited to hear about your trip! You'll love it! My advice for the check in - if it still Wendy or someone like her guarding the concierge area is this:

It is located in the far back towards the boarding area but on the right hand side, you can double check when you get up the escalators but knowing to head there should help.

Have your confirmation and stateroom number in hand and in mind (sounds like you have that, our go with the flow dad didn't).

Know that you do not have to go to any other line that that line (you can do your children's activity checkin and excursions etc all through concierge never go anywhere else). They tried to send one family to the massive children's line until the wife questioned, "but we're concierge". And then Wendy let her in.

If they tell you to have a seat and they will call to have you check in, don't believe it. They were doing that with our check in and then forgetting about the people they said to go sit down! Have one person just stay in line - it moves fast.

Since concierge are first to board, everyone pretty much is there early and at the same time. The preboarding lounge got crowded but no more than 15 minutes were we there before we were boarding.

There is a photo opportunity on the gang plank as you board.

Also you give someone your name as you enter and they announce "The Smith Family" as you enter the atrium. Neat.

While on board you never have to go to Guest Services. Just the Concierge Lounge. Someone is always there or on call. If there is something wrong with your room call concierge. (one stormy night our balcony's divider lock broke in the wind and was banging, mom called guest services and concierge told her the next day she should have called them - it was the middle of the night, but they said anytime and always. was fixed immediately none the less.)

I know you'll love your cruise!

We are in 12008..........not sure is Starboard! ha! ha!
Can't wait!

Your cabin is on the port side.

Wow....what a psycho couple. That poor DH.

We were on one cruise with a large family/friend group and there was a family of 4 sitting next to us at our own table. The family never spoke to each other at dinner; mom, dad and 2 tween kids. The dad keep looking at us having a great time and looking like a lost puppy that just wanted someone to pay attention to him and play with him. We thought about asking him to join us one night, but we all chickened out. We felt sorry for that dad.

I think that is the left side of the ship. I think the 0 after the deck number is the indication of right or left. 5 is for right. We had a view of the port as we left and generally good views. We also had a view of the fireworks from our balcony on the right side, you might have to go up deck to see from your side though. Concierge will know best and help you. They are wondeful!

We've now met our concierge, Andy, and had some complimentary champagne and nibbles. Now let's go back to the room to see if our luggage is there. If you have been paying attention, you know the answer to that already.

So let's take more photos of every detail of my room... Above are the two robes and slippers in the closet.

There are two closets for hanging clothes - one is entirely long hanging and the other also has the safe and cubby holes for shoes, etc. On either side are drawers, a counter and a cubboard with more shelves.
P5190090.jpg

This is the toilet that has less fancy tile then the one bedroom, but nice counters and sinks. The tissue is in the structure of the sink and we don't have the soap dishes or toothbrush holders mom and dad have.

P5190091.jpg

I loved our shower. There were three main settings - one just pours at your feet for the tub, but is a good way to test the temperature; one is for the rain shower; and one is for the hand held (with four settings on it).

P5190092.jpg

The tub is round and has a shelf that you could sit or put a foot on (good for shaving, ladies).
P5190093.jpg

I don't have a photo of it, but be sure to look at the shower curtain. Disney didn't miss a detail on this ship.

There are also TWO cords for hanging went clothing, two towel racks and two robe hooks in the shower area. The sink has shelves on either side.

P5190094.jpg

This will give you an idea of the size of the shelves in the bathroom. The toilet area has a larger shelf, high up above the toilet.

P5190097.jpg

a nice scale - be sure you have it set to kg or lb as you want. I weighed myself now and on the last day and it didn't change - I ate a lot and do the midship detective game a few times and even out

We also got a nice fruit basket in our room. This came in handy the first couple mornings and lasted pretty well.

I think every stateroom has this alarm clock Ipod player. The sisters from Buffalo were talking at dinner the first night about how nice the iPod player is and sis looked at me and said do we have that? I said, 'No we are Concierge, we have a string quartet that arrives when we ring the bell by the bed.":)

P5190102.jpg

The blue light is very bright and we had to take the Dream pillow sign and a towel to cover the light at night.

Our art and frames weren't as fancy as the one bedroom. I think they were the same as the other staterooms on board - stamps. Only an art dealer's daughter would probably notice though.

You can access the concierge sun deck either through the Concierge Lounge on the 12th deck or by going through the doors in the adult sun deck on the 13th.

There are sun block sprays and Evian water misters in a basket on top of the clean towel stand.

P5190146.jpg

P5190147.jpg

Towels are laid out - one at the head and one tucked on the sun chair. The towels are thicker and fully terry cloth with finished ends, than what you find in the other areas of the ship. Mom would grab towels from the concierge sun deck to take to the shaded adult only area by Satellite Falls.

I wish they had carried the cabana idea more on the sun deck and had more shade areas.

I'm not sure this is adult only. I never went in it but saw kids and families by it most of the cruise. A shallow little pool for dunking your feet.

And now for my favorite place on the ship...
P5190155.jpg

When we were leaving Port Canaveral, my sister and I got into our suits (which we had in our carryons) and sat in the Satellite Falls and we could watch us leave as we sat in the water. Everyone walked by saying "that's a good idea".

After several failed attempts to take some time to read your thread, I finally had a chance to ooh-and-ahh! over your pictures. I am loving it all!

We are sailing Concierge next June, and it's nice to see a detailed report. We are in the regular family room, so I really appreciate the pictures of that category in addition to the *lovely* one-bedroom suite.

I can't wait to show this thread to my husband; he's the reason we decided to go concierge and is probably the most excited person to go on our cruise.

Thank you for sharing your pictures and adventures with us. I look forward to seeing more!!

I'm glad you enjoy it so much! The stateroom was beautiful and very comfortable. I think your husband will be pleased. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Happy planning!

On the first day of the cruise the spa is open with tours and lots of opportunity (pressure) to buy things. Lucy, she does excellent updo hair, gave me my tour. On the tour I said "no thank you" a lot but did sign up for rainforest room on St. Thomas day and my sister bought the sugar scrub in vanilla flavor. I loved this and used it in our fancy rain shower in our stateroom and have it at home now. I loved it. It was $35 I think. I was glad she bought it the first day of the cruise and glad that she bought it for me! We get a long really well, we didn't always but as adults we've become good friends.

Here's a photo of the manicure table - My sister and I got pedicures and we both were really disappointed. Sis' gal spent most of the pedicure trying to sell her things like 3 ounce bottle of something that cost $60. My gal did a horrible job. It was chipping the next day. A pedicure... chipping after a day. We got pedicures on the Magic and really enjoyed it. Mom got a manicure from the head girl and that was really good. Perhaps it depends on who you get.

P5190170.jpg

The gym is another area I liked better on the Magic. I thought it seemed even smaller than the Magic's and I didn't like how the machines are sideways to the direction the ship travels in. It was very crowded in the mornings and I gave up after the first day - every machine was taken, every inch of space was taken. I did the morning yoga/stretch and the sit ups but left as soon as dad was done on the tredmill. Found the 4th Deck and doing the stairs and walking here and there more enjoyable then the crowded gym. During the tour it was empty though...

P5190171.jpg

Rainforest room I also liked better on the Magic. I thought the steam rooms and saunas were more comfortable on the Magic, but the Fantasy has two unique hot tubs and nice views from the rooms.

P5190172.jpg

These showers you can go into and out of as well as several steam rooms and saunas. The showers have lights or sents and different settings like rainfall or waterfall or caribbean storm.

P5190173.jpg

A note about the hot tubs. These clearly say on the outside that they are for 2 people each. The tubs are curved to seat two people side by side. The jets are set for you to sit in a certain position.

The sisters from Buffalo had a cruise long pass for the Rainforest Room and one day had some random man join them in hot tub. I am still giggling now trying to picture them squeezing in for this guy. I can't imagine how they managed to fit. Don't be rude, just wait until the two people in get out. There are two hot tubs and I'm sure it wont be long until one frees up.

Also there are two hot tubs in the adult pool area.

P5190179.jpg

Nope, not here yet. But Dad's golf clubs have arrived. Even if you drive to Port Canaveral - I would recommend using hard case suitcases, as if you were flying because the luggage does get abused between the curbside drop off and your stateroom.

Here's a photo taken on the balcony. I'm standing at one end by the one bedroom and looking down to my room - we had the steward open the panel between the room verandahs. There is still some privacy but it opens it up by the rail.
