Once Upon a Dream, We Took Our First Cruise - Goodbye Dream Vacation

Our table assignment for dinner was number 43. Each night, you show up around your determined start time and head directly to your table. You will be greeted each night by the same serving team. They follow you to each restaurant. Franz was our assistant server each night. Melissa was our server. Simone was our head server. By the third night, the drinks we ordered the previous nights were waiting on the table for us. It was nice. If you have breakfast at the same restaurant you ate dinner at the night before, you will also be greeted by your serving team and eat at your table. Each restaurant has different breakfast hours, so this does not always work if you are sleeping in or getting an early start. The personal navigator lists the operating breakfast hours (along with everything else).
Eating at a different restaurant than where you had the previous dinner for breakfast does require you to check in, so they can find you an open space. Tips are given at the end of the cruise to your servers rather than at each meal. When you eat somewhere else, they tell you not to leave a tip for anything other than cash items like alcohol, which is automatically added. That was weird. It is easy to walk away from your servers knowing you will tip them at the end but harder to walk away from others. I guess it all works out in the end. Since we never ate lunch at a sit down during this trip, I am not sure if lunch works the same way. We did see Melissa at a QS restaurant one of the days, so I am guessing it does not work for lunch. Disney is now having people pay tips up front from what I read recently. We did that anyway, and were given receipts to put in out envelopes at the end of the trip. Of course, we added extra cash to all of them as well.
Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, I will get back to the evening. We headed down to our first assigned restaurant, Animator’s Palate on Deck Three. This is the one we were all looking forward to. Watching Crush at DCA and Epcot is a favorite pastime for our family. The pictures and videos of this restaurant do not show how beautiful it really is. Everything looks like a Painter’s palate or brush, and Xander loved the ambiance.
The paintings on the wall change. When you enter, they all look like sketches. Then, they change into paintings. Before you know it, they turn into the sea. Some fun Nemo characters come out and have fun with people nearby while you are ordering and eating appetizers. Then, they all go away and Crush comes out while you wait for your main course. I hoped Crush would talk to Xander. He never sits up front when we watch at the parks, so Crush has never talked directly to him. Since there are screens all throughout the restaurant and everyone is seated, we finally had a chance. Unfortunately, Crush never talked to us. One of the tables he talked to was very close to us, and it was a lot of fun to watch. Crush was a hoot as always. People sometimes ask the same questions of Crush, but I like that every viewing is slightly different. This evening, the little boy at the table near us was telling him all about his family. When it was Crush’s turn to tell the little boy about his family, it took him a while to name all of his kids. Watching the little boy’s face as he did so was awesome. I never knew Crush’s kids had that many names. There is an interaction in every section before Crush leaves. Every seat in the house is a good one.
Watching the show while we waited for our food made it seem like you were there for the show and your food arrives before you know it. This must be a wonderful restaurant for parents with overly hungry kids. Xander ate at Cabanas a few hours earlier, and I nursed Connor during almost the entire dinner show.
Crap thinks this was a salmon tartare but cannot remember for sure. I do not eat seafood, so I am not sure.
His drink was a Negroni. This is an Italian drink made with equal parts gin, sweet vermouth and campari. He loves this drink and tried to order one for Franz as well, since he mentioned he also loved the drink. Unfortunately, he was not allowed to have it. They are never technically off duty the entire duration of the cruise thus not allowed to have a drink. I never drink, since I loathe alcohol. That must stink for the people who like it though, especially on longer cruises. The drink was the only thing we had to pay for at this meal. Gratuity was added automatically at the time he purchased it.
Between the appetizers and the main course or between the salad and the appetizers, I started getting very dizzy. I was unsure if it was my undiagnosed medical condition or if I was experiencing sea sickness. Since my dizziness usually got bad after activity, and I had been seated for a while, I determined that I was probably experiencing sea sickness. My sister and Crap’s Aunt are regular cruisers who both take Dramamine throughout their cruises. They both advised me to bring some just in case, so I could avoid the prices for it on the ship. Before we ever left Vegas, I bought some at Target. I did not want to find out the hard way that I needed it, so I wanted to carry it with me and take it right when I felt symptoms (if I did). Unfortunately, Crap in his never ending quest for knowledge looked on the Internet before we ever left the dock that day. Site after site suggests pregnant and nursing women should avoid it. The bottle did not have a warning that vast from my recollection.
There was a large paintbrush looking pillar behind me. Throughout the second half of our dinner, I leaned on it a lot. Crap said he felt fine. Connor appeared fine. We kept asking Xander how he felt. He was fine too. Sea sickness was only affecting me. It was good that the boys were all well though. I decided to forgo the medication to keep it out of my breast milk. If it does not expire before our next cruise and Connor is done nursing by then, I may bring it just in case.
Connor fell asleep after he was done nursing. He had been sleeping in Crap’s arms, since I was so dizzy. Melissa suggested we bring our stroller in, so we could lay him down. I wanted to rent a stroller, since our double was not going to work for this ship. Despite feeling dizzy, I did walk to the guest service desk. We were happy to find that the stroller use was free as long as it was returned undamaged to the desk before the end of the cruise. It was a Peg Perego Vela, I believe. Xander had a Peg Perego Pliko3 when he was a baby, and I loved it. The Vela was horrible. Very rarely would it even turn by itself, so we had the hardest time getting anywhere with it. Getting on and off the elevator with this thing was no fun, because we did not always make it off before the doors closed! Whenever I ran into another Mom who was obviously using the ship’s stroller, I asked how hers was. All three of the people I ran into said theirs was terrible as well, so it does not appear that we just got a dud. That stroller was so terrible that we turned it in early. It was in its original condition when we returned it, but I can say it was not damaged. Our stroller (purchased just for the WDW part of the trip) was a Bob Revolution SE Dualie, and we were spoiled by how well in handled in use and bothered by how much of a hassle it was on transportation and getting through our cruise door.
As if this restaurant was not already cool enough, it was the best meal we had while we were there. Every table service dinner is on par with a signature restaurant at WDW, but this was all of our favorites. I had a filet, Xander had Mac and cheese and Crap cannot remember what he had. He does remember that he liked the food from that restaurant the best. We never dined at Palo or Remy’s this trip, since we wanted to try all of the main restaurants. Those are the adult only Italian and French restaurants respectively. Diners have to pay an additional $20 for Palo and $75 for Remy. On our next cruise, I would like to try both of those restaurants. I am sure that those are probably the best tasting restaurants on the ship.
Xander ordered chocolate cake for dessert and was happily eating it when they came around and gave him another mini cake to celebrate his birthday. It had already been over two days at this point, but it was still being celebrated. He looked so excited and could not get over eating two desserts. Unfortunately, he never came close to finishing either, but he still loved every moment of trying. They did a mass celebration for all of the celebrants at the same time they did it for Xander. I do not remember them doing it again for Xander or anyone after that, so they probably just covered everyone at the first meal.
After dinner wrapped, my dizziness was not as bad. I did feel slightly nauseous, but that is a side effect of my gastritis. It could have been that well. If it was sea sickness, I was able to fight it off just fine. Within a few minutes of walking around, my nausea subsided and my dizziness was very minimal. I would experience other very small bouts of dizziness throughout the rest of the cruise but none more severe than I suffer at home. Not medicating was a very good idea, because I would have never known that my body fought it off on its own if I had medicated.
Since my dizziness was almost gone, we did a little more exploring of the ship. There was so much beauty everywhere we went.
The ship had a miniature version of the gingerbread house we spent the previous week looking at. It was still pretty massive compared to others I’ve seen. I loved the smell of this, and you could smell it from very far away.
All of the artwork and decorations on the ship were truly amazing. Before long, our exploration had to come to an end. We needed to get the stroller up to our room and make it down to theatre to watch our first of three live shows in time to get seats and popcorn for Xander.
When we got to the room, this stroller would not fit through the door either! This was the Dream’s official stroller, and it does not even fit through the door. It was by no means large, so I wonder how small a stroller would have to be to fit through the door. An umbrella stroller may fit through but most others may not. I carried Connor into the room while Crap carried the stroller in. I changed Connor, and we headed back down to the third floor to watch our show. This update is already long, so I will wrap it here. The video I mentioned will have to be in the next one.

that is cool about the wave phone. I don't remember having that on the cruises I have been on! certainly if they had them they were not free to use. it is also cool that you can rent a stroller for free, but too bad it was annoying to use! we have not cruised with our kids so haven't had to fit strollers into cruise rooms yet!
the one time I saw the crush show (at disneyland) I think someone asked crush his kids' names. he went through a long list of them, it was so funny!

Just as I suspected, I am even more obsessed with Animator's Palate than before. I think it looks absolutely amazing. It's hard to believe that Disney could outdo themselves with themeing, but I think that DCL does it.
I love that there's a gingerbread house on board! I love watching gingerbread competitions on Food Network, and I've made a few, so I know how hard they are to make. Those really impress me <-----geek.
First I was thinking "How awesome that the stroller rental is free!" Then I was thinking "Ohhh, a Peg whatsitsname, nice brand!" Then I was thinking "That sucks. No wonder they don't charge"
I really love how all inclusive cruises are. I'm not a drinker either (and DH only occasionally since I don't) so cruises are perfect. That's what we really loved about DxDP too. You can tell that you guys are from a good restaurant city--you obviously know how to tip

Drives DH nuts that I google everything. Did you feel badly the whole trip? I sure hope not.
but related to the obsession with research and googling. We went to buy the appliances for the new house today. You know how most retailers "price match"? Well I walking into the store with a folder of information. I had 3 of each appliance chosen to look at-at 3 price points-and had at least 3 prices quotes for each of them! The sales guy said "Wow, you're prepared." (he wasn't annoyed tho). I told him that when we bought my car last year I knew more about he car than the salesman did. (and I still love it, so research paid off! )
Can't wait to hear more about the cruise. I'm going on record to say that we WILL be on DCL sooner rather than later. I started talking about how we'll utilize DxDP on our next WDW trip tonight and DH looked scared
so I better hold off on planning the cruise

We loved the wavephones. At this point in the trip, only one of ours was working. We had not separated for long periods of time, so it was okay. Loaning the stroller is a great idea. Now, they just need to get better strollers.
It was so funny to hear him go on and on. It reminded me of when kids just talk and talk.

Everything about Animator's Palate is amazing, but I doubt it will be Maddie's favorite when you go. It was all of our favorites for everything, food, decorations and show. They have a Royal Palace well suited for Princess Maddie.
We did not know the ship would have a large gingerbread house, and it was a lovely touch. Disney and gingerbread go hand in hand around Christmas time.
I would not have been happy if the rental was not free. We barely used that thing, since it was so difficult to use. It was nice to lay Connor down during meals when he slept though.
Disney cruises are even more all inclusive than other cruise liners. My sister buys soda package on her cruises. As long as you go to the drink station on the 11th floor, order it from room service (which we never did) or get one with a meal, they are free. The room service is free other than a tip, of course.
I am actually glad I did not take the Dramamine. My dizziness resolved itself. If I had taken it, I would have thought it was the medication working. After dinner and a little walking around, I never felt more dizzy than I sometimes do at home. It was all good. Crap and my sister are the Google King and Queen. If you tell either of them anything, they are going to Google it before they believe you. They are both always looking things up too. Since I did not want to medicate Connor with something unsafe, I am glad he Googled this time.
Your preparation to shop is even more extensive than mine. I like to go everywhere with a plan knowing what I will buy and what it should cost. This is where Crap checks his Google skills at the door. When he shops, he does not care what it cost. He just buys what he wants. It is frustrating, because I love a good deal.
I am glad to hear that you will definitely take a cruise at some point. You will all love it, I bet. Maddie is still at an age where she loves Disney, so I think it will be an awesome time to cruise. Even though you will not see a lot of it in my report, there are character meets everywhere. The Personal Navigator tells you where to meet the characters. There was a Princess March in the Grand lobby one time we passed by. A bunch of little girls were dancing with them. I wished I had a daughter as we walked right past this. We would have done more meet and greets if our cruise was longer. The only one we all saw was Mickey. There was so much to do and so little time. They even send characters to the clubs. The nursery gave me pictures of Connor with Chip and Dale (which I have misplaced
. I walked into the nursery one night as Ariel was walking out. Xander says Cinderella and others came into the Kid's Club.Yes.Awesomeness. Here's to more lasters wanting to finish last.

The inside of the ship lobby looks so amazing with all those Christmas decorations and of course a Christmas tree.

I loved the way the ship looked with all of the Christmas decorations. It was amazing.
Xander loved hanging in the porthole, and we all loved DCL.
I had never mentioned DH's DIS name out loud before. When I asked him if he was CrapBag. You should have seen the look on Xander's face.
He thought I was calling his Dad a CrapBag. He said, "No he's not, Mommy." It took me a while to explain to him that Daddy wants to be called Crap but only on the DIS. 
Why did DH have to come up with that stupid name? Moving all of those buttons at once is hard for me. The few times I've played MW3 I get killed quickly, because I always hit the wrong button. It is not fun, but he plays it for hours every single day!!! He sometimes asks me to play with him, but I decline.If being first is all that mattered, Dara already won that game. It is still fun to be first, but the fun continues with whomever is last on the lasting board. Here, it is just about our trip. Since I respond to everyone, I will always end up being last!!!.

I forgot to mention in the last update that we attended a little bit of the sailing away party on deck. The funny thing is I cannot even remember when we were there in sequence of the other events, because I took the picture with my cell phone. If you are interested in attending the party, the time and location will be listed in the personal navigator. It was fun. The characters and some live cast members put on a little dance like show. While we do not need to do this every time, it was nice to see at least once.
Crap and I separated briefly at this point in the evening, because our steward had not returned with a working wave phone. He headed to Guest Service. The boys and I headed into the Walt Disney Theater to claim our seats for The Golden Mickeys. We found some seats toward the stage on the left side of the room or stage right. Since we liked our seats and the middle seats were gone every night by the time we arrived in the theater, we would sit there for every show. After Crap got a working second phone, he stopped by the snack bar near the movie theatre. He got Xander’s popcorn and met us inside the theatre. Everything from the concession stand there has an extra charge.
Crap and I love the theatre, but musical theatre is our favorite. He was not a fan when I first met him, but that all changed when I took him to see Angels in America. I highly recommend that for anyone also interested in the theatre but who has not seen it. There was a movie made about it as well, and that was good. It was not as good as the play. My first play was Kiss of the Spider Woman, which was also amazing. Rent is our all-time favorite play. We have seen the stage production six times, including once on Broadway. We never miss a chance to see it if it comes to our city or we are vacationing in a city that has it. The movie was good, especially since everyone but Mimi and Joanne was in the original Broadway cast.
Being a huge Disney fan, I chose to see The Lion King on Broadway over Wicked. Crap still teases me about that decision all the time, because we missed a chance to see Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth originate the roles. We saw it later off broadway with a touring cast and loved the show. The Lion King on Broadway was all right, but it is not something I ever need to see again. When we were offered free tickets to see the shortened Vegas version, we turned them down.
Even though the ship has a large amount of entertainment options, including first fun movies in the Buena Vista Theater, we knew we would see which mini plays Disney had in store for us each night. Crap and I have different opinions on which one was best. His favorite was Believe while my favorite was The Golden Mickeys. We both agree that Villains Tonight (while still good) was the worst of the three. All three shows are worth seeing for anyone who loves musical theatre and Disney. They are shorter than plays you’d find on Broadway but are beautifully produced little numbers. I was very impressed by the fact that all of the actors participate in all three plays. There were some very good actors in the plays as well.
Crap decided he did not want to take pictures during the play. I knew Connor would be sitting on me throughout the show, and I would need to leave if he made any noise. Reluctantly, I decided to leave the camera in the room. My cell phone was locked in the safe (still searching for updates at this point). Luckily, Crap had his work phone on him. He kept it on throughout the duration of cruise just in case it actually worked and anyone needed him. Either no one called him or we never got a signal, because it never rang. Since a trip report needs pictures, I borrowed the ones you are about to see from the DIS description of the Golden Mickeys to put back on the DIS. I did not think it was appropriate to take them from anywhere else.
The Golden Mickeys is like the Oscars. If you get there early enough, they even do a red carpet. Rona Rivers, the host of the pre-show, conducts random interviews with incoming theatre goers. She reminded me of an over the top entertainment reporter. This was excellent casting, because the lady who played her was marvelous in this role. We were not selected. Usually, I would love the chance to be featured but am glad it did not happen this time. I was bringing both boys in by myself until Crap met up with us. They show some interview clips from the red carpet before the show starts. This is broadcasted live I believe, so the people selected do not get to watch their big moment on the screen. Disney really should have a one minute delay on that, because it would be more exciting for the people selected to watch themselves on the big screen.
The cruise director made an announcement that they would be awarding a prize at the end of the show. When the show was about to start, a CM approached Xander. She asked him if we wanted to help them set up the show. Xander replied, “Maybe.” Just as she was about to walk away he said, my maybe means yes most of the time.” Then, she asked him again. This time he said, “Well, if you want.” She whisked him away. Then, I noticed they were asking other kids as well. The show was about to start and Xander was nowhere in sight. I wondered what he was going to do.
The show opened just as the Oscars would. You see dancers in gold suits lining the stage then the ropes are pulled back. A “nervous” stage manager, Ensign Benson, gets the word while we watch that she will be hosting the show. She starts off nervously and warms into the role slowly. By the end of the show, it seems like she has been hosting shows for years. Disney played that off well.
I do not remember the exact sequence of the story line, but the awards she presented were for Disney movies. Whenever she presented an award, you would see live singing, dancing and acting to scenes from the respective animated movie playing in the background. It seemed like the older movies went first and the movies got newer as the show progressed, but I could be mistaken on that. Snow White definitely received its award close to the beginning of the show. After short scenes from the movie were acted out, the seven dwarfs enter the stage. They dance around with Snow White and the other cast members from the show. The dwarfs are seven children selected from the audience. The one in the green shirt and purple hat, Dopey, is Xander! He is the second kid behind Snow White. All week I came close to crying a few times, but this is the only thing that actually made a tear roll down my face. My baby was so adorable up there. We did not have a camera with us. Crap wrestled his cell phone out as quickly as he could and caught some video of it. This is the only thing we have from that special moment. It was Disney magic. I wish Disney would have recorded it and sold it to us, but I guess they do not do that. Even if you do not plan on taking pictures during the show (without the flash of course), bring your camera. Your little one could be selected.

If you arrive at the show early and follow directions, you will have a chance to win the prize.
We took the boys back to the room. The wet spot on the carpet was nearly dry, so we deduced someone probably spilled something that morning. Since nothing was leaking, we felt comfortable not addressing the issue any further. Crap decided to call it a night (of course). Our first two items from the Fish extenders program had been delivered. Since others were already delivering theirs, I decided to deliver mine then as well. Fish extenders are where a group of people decide to exchange gifts with one another. The term comes from the fact that the hook you hang your bag to receive gifts on looks like a fish. It is right by your door near the room number. Each group determines the rules if any and how large the group will be. You can arrange this if you are interested by finding the thread on the DIS for the cruise you are about to sail on. Someone will usually start the discussion on the thread but you can do it if no one else has done it yet.
Our group only had nine members, and the only rule was that you had to join at least 45s before departure. Some people that came across the thread after that point started a smaller group of their own I believe. Delivering the fish extenders took a little bit of time, because the nine people participating were all over the ship. This is a massive ship. I personally would not want to participate in a large group for multiple reasons. The gifts you bring and the gifts you receive take up a lot of room in your luggage. It would take a very long time to deliver all of them. If too many people participate, it can also get costly.
People can bring pretty much anything they want. We received eight total gift bags (since we were the ninth in the party) with items like hand sanitizer, kid’s sunglasses, toys, sand pails, coloring books, alcohol, tote bags, a DVD, a CD of Christmas songs and much more. There was so much stuff from everyone that we could barely fit it in our bags. Xander enjoyed this more than I can explain. Whenever we returned to our room and he found “presents” in our bag, he was ecstatic. That alone made participating worth it. Crap said it was a hassle, but I would do it again and just save a little more bag room for the items.
Some people say the best gifts are ones that represent you or your city. I am not crafty, so I decided to give out practical gifts. Since all of the people in our group were DIS members, I got mouse pads (for their computer), pens (to take notes), screen cleaning clings (for their cell phones), chocolate coins (who does not love chocolate), Disney coloring books for the younger kids, cards for the older boys, game sets for the older girls and a tote bag to put everything in. Everything but the coloring books represented Vegas, because all of the items were Vegas themed. I just did not think small kids should have anything Vegas. The stuff I handed out took up a lot less room in our bag than the stuff we received back. Some people must have spent way too much.
On a longer cruise, some of those items might have really come in handy too. We were not able to use most of them while we were there, but Xander did open some of the toys. My favorite items were the homemade ones. Someone made a Mickey ornament with each person’s family name in it. Unfortunately, it broke before we left the ship. Another group made a door hanger that Xander adored. Green is his favorite color, and he said it was pretty.
After I delivered the fish extenders, I headed back to the room. I was exhausted. When we got home from our trip, I noticed that two people had last minute room changes. The updates were delivered to the DIS while I was at WDW. They probably never got my gifts. That made me a little sad. I hope whoever got them enjoyed them. If you participate in Fish Extenders, I suggest you check the list again when you board the ship to account for last minute room changes (as long as you remember to turn your phone off as soon as you’re done and before the ship sails away). That was another learning experience for me.

Sorry about that. Maybe I just didn't read it correctly last night since I was tired. That is very interesting to hear why your DH picked that name on the DIS boards?
I do play MW3 with friends at my house, but I am not that competitive to play online with those other players. Mostly I play on the CPU instead of the PS3 or XBOX 360. I can understand that he would play for hours on MW3. I still play card games with other people and it gets me away from the CPU once in awhile.
I got to read your last two posts on your TR. The Animators Palate restaurant looks so amazing as well as the food. It would have been neat that you would get picked by Crush at your table. It must be neat to see the show and eat then just by watching it at EPCOT or DCA.
Very nice update on your next post. Very nice video of Xander in The Golden Mickey's. I bet that he was excited to be on stage for the show.

Love your TR so far. Don't you just love magical moments? On our 1st trip to WDW my kids were picked to open the Indiana Jones show at Hollywood Studios. 5 years later the memory still makes me smile

I am caught up. Love the pics of the ship. What a cutie to play Dopey! You know you can take ginger for sea sickness as well. I also learned a long time ago about using a shoe organizer for the ship and I use it for the hotels as well. It hangs over the door and we put every thing in it. Bathroom , cameras, glasses, pens , paper anything. Its a great way to keep everything in one spot and not taking up space on counters or drawers. We always turn off cell phones. We dont need it at all. Just kept them in the safe.
Sailaway is alot of fun, Disney looks like it has alot more fun with it though. I like the lunch when you first get on board. Cant wait to read more...

OMG, WOW!!! Xander got chosen! So cool. I am so glad that Crap had the phone to take video. Awesome. What a great Dopey. 
I also love musicals, and Maddie is obsessed with them. I'm with Crap though, the original cast of Wicked? And you didn't go? I'm in love with both Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, so that would have been a no brainer for me. We had tickets to see the touring version in Chicago, but DH got really sick so we had to skip it. I've read the book and love it. Rent is hands-down my favorite. Thanks. At the risk of the report being a little more boring than the average cruise report, I am trying to add as much information as I can to explain things.
If I had a huge theatre budget, I would be going back and forth to New York all the time. Thank goodness for touring casts to get us through until our next trip. It is always fun talking theatre with fellow lovers.
It seems so obvious to put the interviews on a slight delay. I wonder why Disney does not do that.
Seeing Xander on that stage was my favorite thing about the cruise. That is so Xander. He is such a little performer.
I did not know you lived in Vegas. That's cool. Your friend was reallt sweet to give you things that would remind you of home. If we ever moved from Vegas, I would miss it so much. Crap would be excited to move.
I think most people did just one delivery although I have heard of people delivering something each day. There were some loose unlabeled items in the bag from time to time. It is possible that the loose items were delivered seprately. I just assumed that they did not fit inside some of the bags. Most people labeled their bags, but their were some unlabeled bags along with loose items. Even if it was a longer cruise, I would have delivered everything at once. With a small group of nine people, it still took me some time to deliver all of the items. I would not want to do it everyday, but some people may not mind. Since I do not have any right brained talent at all, it is hard not to get a little jealous of crafty or talented people. However, I was happy to receive the awesome things they made. It was a neat overall experience.

Crap's Aunt takes a lot of Dramamine on and off ship but loves cruising. I can see why some would avoid cruising if their issues are really severe though.
I am confused by your apology for Crap's name, so I think it may not have been conveyed the way I wanted to. Sorry. When I first noticed CrapBag posting to this thread, I was not 100% sure if it was my DH. He was very clear that he would never get a DIS account and read my previous TR through lurking without ever logging in. The first time I saw him after I noticed it, I asked him if he was CrapBag. He laughed and tried to play it off. Xander thought I was calling his Dad a crap bag!!! It was very confusing for him.
The backstory on the name is that he will not let me mention his real name anywhere on the DIS. His name is unique. He may be the only person with that first and last name combination. Since everyone on the DIS already knows our last name, Medina, he will not let me mention his first name. There are so many people with my name that when you google it, you cannot even find me. At first, he did not want me to show pictures of him or mention him at all. Eventually, he agreed to let me use his pictures and mention him. We are huge Friends fans. Mike insisted that Phoebe call him Crap Bag if she changed her name to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock. Neither ever changed their names after that.
DH insisted I call him Crap Bag then if I ever mentioned him. The dumb name was his idea that he ripped off from Friends. He laughed like crazy when he said I had to call him that, so he thinks he's funny.I am so over MW3 being played in my living room every night. The living room TV is the best, so he has to play it in there. That is why I went from being on the DIS once in a while to being on it a lot. At least we both get to do something we individually enjoy.
Disney tied the show at Animators Palate with dinner very well. It was very seamless. The show does not start until everyone is seated and has ordered. By the time dinner arrives, the show has wrapped. We wanted to get picked. Maybe, we will get selected next time.
I love that Xander got to go onstage for The Golden Mickeys, but I think he loved it even more. He really enjoyed it.
Love your TR so far. Don't you just love magical moments? On our 1st trip to WDW my kids were picked to open the Indiana Jones show at Hollywood Studios. 5 years later the memory still makes me smile
Thank you. It really was amazing. You're right. Long after I've forgotten other things that I really loved from this trip, I will always remember that. Hopefully, he will too, because he loved every moment of it. That is so cool that your kids were selected for the Indiana Jones show. Even though I am not super fond of that show, the kids chosen really are adorable. Crap likes the show, because he loves the action.
I am caught up. Love the pics of the ship. What a cutie to play Dopey! You know you can take ginger for sea sickness as well. I also learned a long time ago about using a shoe organizer for the ship and I use it for the hotels as well. It hangs over the door and we put every thing in it. Bathroom , cameras, glasses, pens , paper anything. Its a great way to keep everything in one spot and not taking up space on counters or drawers. We always turn off cell phones. We dont need it at all. Just kept them in the safe.
Sailaway is alot of fun, Disney looks like it has alot more fun with it though. I like the lunch when you first get on board. Cant wait to read more...

The ship was really beautiful. Luckily, other than slight boughts of dizziness that I get at home all of the time, I was fine after that first dinner. I did not need anything else. Thanks for the tip on the ginger though. Someone else mentioned that while we were on the ship, and I would have tried it if my problems came back. The shoe organizer is a great idea, and I am sure it would have made unpacking a little faster. I read that when I was researching the cruise and forgot to buy one. Since I only own about 12 pairs of shoes, I do not currently own one. Next time, I will turn off my cell phone before I put it in the safe. That was an $11 lesson I learned this trip.
We all thought the sail away had the potential to be fun. Since we were not settled in yet, I was not as into it as I might have been. Next time, I will either skip it and get all settled before dinner or get to the ship earlier. Crew members looked like they were really having fun at the sailaway party. Some of the other guests looked like they were as well. Very few people were actually there though, so I think most people decide to skip it.
