Tena pants for boys

Hi,

We have an autistic/non verbal son who is 15 years old.

Due to his development special needs he wears TENA 'super pants' almost like pull up pants for teenagers.

We haven't been to Florida for a while now and the last time we did we were able to buy the Huggies brand pull ups from Publix.
However, they won't fit him anymore - if we were to go on holiday again we really don't fancy the thought of having to bring all our own pants with us, which may even fill a suitcase!

So the question is can we but them locally in Kissimmee/Orlando?

I know I could ask them direct but just wondered if anyone knew.

Thanks.

You can buy pull up style diapers that will fit him at CVS, Walgreen or Walmart.

Forgive my ignorance on the subject... are those adult-sized then? There are multiple brands of adult sized incontinence products that you can get at any drug store that would probably work well in this situation. If you need more of a diaper style product, perhaps one of the nighttime products from Pampers or Huggies would work? Those both come in larger sizes for older kids. Good luck, and enjoy your trip!

I can't really answer your question, except to suggest that if nothing else you could preship them to the hotel you will be staying at.

I really just wanted to say 'hi' and reach out since I too have an autistic, non-verbal son, who will be 13 on our next trip.

Thanks for the replies.

The standard boys pull up pants aren't big enough - we have used them before on holiday, 'goodnights' (?). He really needs a small mans size.

I have checked on Walmart, CVS, Target and Walgreen websites and they do seem to stock Tena and a brand called Depend, CVS also have their own too.

I just wanted to confirm we could buy them in Orlando - I guess we could check with the stores direct.

You won't need to call them trust me you can find them at all the stores I mentioned above and the grocery stores. I have a 14 and 22 year old with spina bifida that wears them and on the rare occasion when we run out between supply order I just go to the store and buy them.

As the others said, you should be able to get adult size products in many places.

If he is a small adult, you might also want to look into Goodnights, although it sounds like you have tried those and they are not big enough. They are made for children, up to 125 pounds, to protect against nighttime incontinence, but work very well for daytime use.

You can also find those pretty much all over. They are made by Kimberly Clark, who make Huggies for smaller children.

not sure about finding the brand you use but the depends are found easily in the orlando area. hpoe tha this helps you. Depends are adult size in a couple of styles.

Thanks for all your replies - we recently went to DLP and had to take a suitcase full of pullups, looks like we won't need to do this to Florida, thank goodness. :flower3:

What about Huggies goodnights? I know they have a large - extra large size. Our son is 5 and due to his special needs is not potty trained. We use goodnights even during the day because they are bigger.

Hi Julie, I understand your needs exactly. Our 7yo DD wears the youth/small adult size because GoodNights and other "child" pullups do not work for us. I strongly recommend that you place an order online with Tena.com to be delivered to your resort. That way you will be certain to have the right size and style. Especially if you need the "youth/small adult" size - it is very hard to find in the stores.

My experience - here at home, though likely similiar in other places - is that while a store or chain is listed on a website as carrying a brand (Tena, Depends, Prevail, etc.) - the particular size and style you want may NOT be available at the local store. Of all the stores in our local area, precisely 1 physical store carries the brand/size/style we use - and not the same chain at another address, though they do carry the brand.

No need to lug a suitcase full (though that could be your souvenir bag for the trip home), but I'd hate for you to expect to purchase the brand/size/style you want after arriving, only to discover that particular size/style is not stocked. Suggest online ordering for delivery to the resort. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I noticed Walgreens online happens to have them buy one-get one. If your trip is in the near future, you could order and have them shipped to the hotel.

We are shipping our DS his good nights (which are almost too small ) to our resort to be safe. We live in CA and there are lots of places to buy undergarments for all sizes of people, but small adult or large kids sizes seem to run out the fastest. I would buy what you need and ship it to be safe.

How about Amazon.com, they have many types and sizes plus free shipping, you could send them to your resort easily that way. But then again, I like the idea of packing a suitcase with them and using it to bring home treasures too :cool1:

As said from the others you can get them ar Walgreens etc, but you can also buy them at Wal-Mart and the cost may be less.

I agree with the previous post about having them shipped directly from Tena to your hotel(Just make sure that you have plenty of extra in your carry on bag, in case you don't get your box right when you check in.) My experience has been that while stores do have their own brands, they don't always work as well. Many of the store brands have a wider waist band that is stretchy, and unfortunately absorbs liquid and draws it upward, which can lead to problems!

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, we do not go until next May.
Also we staying at off site villa not a resort.

You can probably have them shipped to be held for pick-up at the post-office if you can't ship to the villa. I believe the address for post-office pick-up is General Delivery - [your name], city, state, zip. But I'd check with the villas if a package can be shipped ahead for you.

If you will be at an off-site villa, check with the rental agent if you can have the shipment to their office. They will have someone to sign for it (if necessary) and they will be safe. This will only not work if you are dealing directly with an owner and not a rental agent.
