Charging ECV at Pop

Hi,

I will be using an ECV for the first time at Disney. I am renting from an off-site company and staying at Pop Century. My DH seems to remember bell services storing the ECV's and I assume charging them rather than taking the ECV to the room. I will be able to walk short distances and I don't need an ADA room.

Is this an option? I can probably guess some of the pro's and con's but I would still like to gauge if this works well or not.

I tried to find some info on this in the sticky's, sorry if it is posted somewhere.

Many thanks!

but there is a post below on this board about having the ECV charged by bell services at DL and it didn't work out.

I, for one, have not personally dealt with charging an ECV at Disney but since I plan on renting one this trip, I have spoken to those who have rented them at Disney and elsewhere. Unequivocally, I was advised to charge in my room v. any other option. One friend expected hers to be charged overnight (I assume at bell station) and it ended up being unplugged, another tried to do it in the hall and (again) unplugged, and several friends have said that they have charged in the hall or out of sight only to find sticky fingerprints/chocolate/misc on the ECV.

Again, I can't say from personal experience, but the info I've gleaned so far has been it's best to do it in your room so you A) know it gets done and B) know parents aren't letting Jr. climb around on it.

to the best of my knowledge Bell Services only stores ECVs that have been dropped off by companies and are waiting to be picked up by guests and vice versa. I dont believe they generally store them for guests to charge them but you could always ask. I just dont think it'd be conveinent if you are staying in the 70's, 80's or 90's and using the bus. it's really not a big deal to take to your room, put it by the window and charge it. Good Luck!!

1. An ECV will fit easily in any of the value rooms. It may be necessary to move the table to get convenient access to an outlet.

2. There are reports that Bell Services will hold but not get to a full charge.

3. Leaving outside is bad enough where there are inside corridors, but with outside corridors kids (and teens) may want to play with it and also it will be exposed to any evening rain.

4. You do not need an accessible room for the ECV. The doors to all rooms are 36 inches wide and any ECV can get through the door.

Chesire--I have an ecv and this trip will need either a rollaway or air mattress for my DGS. (He sleeps sideways so my son won't sleep with him and at 11 is too old to sleep with grandma). Do you think this is possible? I am thinking the air mattress would fit between the bed and window during the day and can be stood upright until we need it at night.

At the POP, once we are in for the night I park the ECV long ways in front of the door. This is a good out of the way place.

The only thing that concerns me about this, StreLady, is if you all need to get out of the room in a hurry in the middle of the night.

Never really thought about that. I guess its not a great idea. This time I will consider another place.

The first time my son and I stayed at a value without my hubby, I felt a little less safe than with him. So I parked it there mostly for comfort. Of course that was a long time ago and he was much younger.

Thanks for passing on the thought

We sort of shove the table and chairs as close to the tv stand as possible and will sometimes move one of the chairs over to the other side, there is sometimes either just the wall or a connecting door that we won't need access through and that leaves room for the ECV to fit closer to the wall and leaves plenty of space from the bed to the door.
