Hi everyone

We just booked our trip and now it's time to rush, rush, rush! We leave in 2 weeks for our first trip with the kids.:cool1: So excited and grateful to get to fulfill my dream of bringing my little ones to the happiest place on earth! Here's our cast of characters...

Me, Clara:

I am a (mostly) stay-at-home mom who works very part-time at a childcare center. I have been to Disneyland only once, with DH in 2006. It has always been my dream to take my children, and now I can't wait to go! I have many favourite characters: Mickey :smickey:, Todd and Copper, Belle, and Jiminy Cricket. Must-do ride: Peter Pan! I didn't ride it last time because lines were always too long, so this time I'm making it a priority!

Here's DH, Greg, with our daughter attached to him :rotfl::

DH is a writer/editor :surfweb:. In the Spring and Summer his work schedule becomes quite flexible, so that's why we can take a trip midweek in May. Hurray for potentially avoiding crowds! :thumbsup2 He has been to DL 3 times, twice as a kid, and once with me. Fave character: Goofy:goofy:. Hmmm, come to think of it, he's a bit goofy himself . Must-do ride: Snow White's Scary Adventures because he can't wait to ride it with DD. Awww:lovestruc

Then there's DD3, Josie:

Oh man, she is a nutty kid. She makes our days... interesting. This little gal has a temper and is extremely opinionated, so taking her anywhere is a challenge, much less Disneyland! But she's also super smart, funny, curious, and wonderfully weird. All we can do is try to make the trip go smoothly and hope for a little bit of :wizard:. Fave character: the wicked queen from Snow White; I kid you not. In case you were wondering about the title of this pre-trippy, she calls her "the foot-step mother." She has no idea what a step-mother is :rotfl2: Must do ride: Snow White's Scary Adventures, of course! She's not scared! I've never done this ride, and I know others say it's too scary for wee ones, but Josie is adament that we not only ride it, but that we ride it first! I should also add that DD is teeny, and at a mere 37" she won't be able to do any big rides :(

Lastly, here is DS1, Charlie:

He'll be just turning 13 months on this trip, and is mostly a jolly little guy, although he can throw a tantrum with the best of them when he wants to. You'll notice in the picture that he's holding a marker. Markers are his security blanket, and he takes them everywhere he goes; no idea why :rotfl: So we will be packing some markers this trip. He's not walking yet, and I'm a little concerned that he won't have many places to crawl around and will get restless and grumpy :confused3 We'll see, I guess. Really, I'm hoping he'll take his first steps at DL, wouldn't that be a great story? Fave character (yes, he does have one already): Lightening McQueen. He doesn't watch movies yet, but he has a LM car that he just loves. Must-do ride: riding on Mommy in the Ergo, of course! :rotfl:

Well, there you have it... oh yeah, I almost forgot the trip details. We are going May 14 - 18 and spending 4 days in the parks. Staying at Best Western Anaheim. We still have a lot of preparing to do, including making reservations for character meals, so I'll keep you posted as we get all set. Two weeks isn't much time! Yikes... and also hurray!

You must meet the fantastic Evil Queen. She can only be found out in the park on the path on the right side of the Castle. She and Snow White will be at the Wishing Well for about 20 minutes every hour.

She is amazing with any outgoing kid or anyone who engages her in conversation. If there is a little Snow White she will convince her the story was one sided.

Queen Quote: "If you look at Snow you will see that she is short because she did not eat her fruits and vegitables. The apple was to make her healthy and tall, but with only one bite it was not enough, and she fainted."

Wow, thanks for the info! :worship::worship: I just assumed the Queen wasn't a popular enough villain to make an appearance. DD will be SO excited to meet her!

We've made our character dining reservations! We'll be having 2 character breakfasts: the Chip n' Dale one at Storyteller's Cafe and Surf's Up! with Mickey and friends at PCH Grill. We'll also be doing lunch with the princesses at Ariel's Grotto. So fun! And tonight I did something I've been dying to do... went to Home Depot and got me some lime green Mickey head paint chips ::yes:: DH says he is not wearing a paint chip in the parks, but he is. I can be very persuasive... :stir:

Yay so exciting!! And it's so close. It's nice booking trips that close to departure because you don't have that agonizing "this is going to take FOREVER" feeling, haha! You guys are going to have a great time. I think the crowds shouldn't be too bad by the time you guys go, but you'll have fun nonetheless!! Can't wait to hear more about your trip. :goodvibes

Get ready for the worst pre-trip update ever! I'm sick, and we leave in just over a week!:sick::sick: A couple of days ago I got a tickle in my throat... then a pain in my chest... the next day it was worse and I felt like I had a fever. So last night I went to the doctor, and he said it's bronchitis. Apparently there's nothing I can do but keep my fingers crossed that it's gone soon, and that I don't pass it on to DH or the kids:guilty:. Blah! Well, I spent the day resting, and lucky for me the kids had a birthday party to go to, so they didn't miss me at all :) We didn't buy the trip insurance that would give us our money back if we had to cancel... whoops! Figured we were usually healthy! Well, I'll keep you posted.

Oh no!! :sad2: I hope you feel better. I was like this on my New Years trip to WDW back in 2006. I was sick at the time but had to go to the doctor the day after christmas since we were scheduled to leave the next day :scared1:

Well, I'm back. I've been so sick for the last while that I've done nothing but lay on the couch, feverish and caughing. But I'm mostly better now, and thank goodness, because we leave tomorrow! It's hard to be excited now, after a week of  Plus, the kids got sick too, and they're still cranky and snotty-nosed. And one more thing about little noses... this morning DS woke up with a nose bleed  As if anything else needed to go wrong :headache: I've never seen a baby with a nose bleed before, and no one in our family gets them at all, so I was pretty freaked out! But we called the nurse and were told it was probably just one of those things, maybe brought on by being congested. So there you have it... a weird start to a trip, but I'm trying to stay positive :confused3 We can do this... I'll be writing a report when we return. See you then! :yay::yay::yay:
