Kidani Village Standard View

We have a standard view 1 bedroom villa booked at Kidani Village. Do we have any view options other than the obvious parking lot view? I'm having trouble finding much info online for the standard view.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Kidani parking is under the building. Standard view has front drive, bus stop, entrance, and on one side, the pool?

We requested close to pool and overlooked main entrance and pool house.

As Deva pointed out, ask for close to pool. It's probably the best request for standard view rooms at Kidani.

The time we stayed there in a standard view I asked to be not tooooo far from the lobby or bus stop and we ended up right by the bus stop. VERY convenient as there were stairs right there that went down BUT also verrry crappy view AND we heard all of the buses pull in & out at all hours (or at least until the last bus of the night). It was also a fair (and awkward) schlep over to the pool from there. I would have to think "close to the pool" would be a better request although it could mean a further walk to the bus stop. We prefer Jambo to Kidani for several reasons - layout being one.

Close to the pool. We had a room across from the pool, and you could see the savana. I can post some pictures later. Great room.

As others have stated, ask for a pool view.

While most of the parking at Kidani is under the building there are exterior lots in several places. For example, even with a pool view if you look straight down you will see a small exterior lot that is in between the pool area and the building but you will be on the 2nd floor or higher and that parking area will be at least one floor below you. If you are in the pool side wing but close to the lobby you will see the short-term parking lot about 100 feet from your balcony.

If you are in the wing closest to Jambo House and near the bus stop and you look straight down, you will see the valet lot. Again, you will be on the 2nd floor or higher so the lot will be at least one floor below you. This lot is only a few rows deep so if you look straight out from your balcony you can ignore it. Plus since they eliminated free valet parking for DVC members, this lot doesn't generate a lot of traffic.

There is another lot for oversized vehicles at the end of that wing but there are no Standard View rooms in that area.

To see for yourself, go to Google Maps and search for Kidani Village, Lake Buena Vista, FL Then zoom in and see where the lots are located.

Great, sounds like it is pool view that we want. Would love to see any pics you all have taken!

Has anyone had experience with the new online check in room request options? Curious what all they are at AKV.

I've stayed in the regular rooms over in Jambo house, and love it over there. We chose Kidani this time because of the second bathroom in the one bedroom villa. I'm sure we'll enjoy Kidani, its always nice to try something new.

We stayed at Kidani this January and had a standard view room. It was a parking lot view - we could see the buses and the main bridge to the lobby. It was certainly not as bad as it sounds. The trees and greenery really made it nice and it was not unpleasant at all. We stayed in room 7215. It was close to the main lobby and elevator.

We were near the bus stop and it was very convenient since we go to the bus stop more than the pool. If you go to the pool a lot, then pool side would be best INO. Either way, good!

the checkin area(where you drive your car up) was our view for our 1 bed stnd view at kidani. we liked the room though and there are lots of animal viewing areas all over the resort so it's not a big deal to go without savannah view

the bathrooms at kidani are awesome. to me the whole resort seems very posh and not dvc-ish. we did online checkin at akv 2 yrs ago. we didn't even have to go into the lobby, were met at the entrance with our packet/keys all that however that was not our experience at blt in april so not sure if akl is just more organized or if we got lucky! i do remember requesting close to the lobby/bus stop and a high floor...both requests were honored

the only downfall of the pool view is that it is a hike to the bus stop. if you have small kids, that may be a consideration. also we avoid pool views because i just think they are noisy but i'm a nitpicker when it comes to noise so it may not bother you at all.

We have stayed second floor right next to the area where people walk down to the bus stop and never ever noticed the sound of the buses. It was great watching the people coming back from the parks, more entertaining than the animals in the savannah.

I agree with you. I would be concerned about the noise from the pool area too. But the OP seemed more concerned about getting a parking lot view and the pool area is the only Standard View area where there are only a few parking spaces in view.

We usually book a Savanna View room and don't care if we're all the way down the long hallway on the pool side. We don't have kids, don't mind the long walk to the bus stop and like that the hallway is so quiet since there are very few people walking/running past the room. We like to be on the ground floor and the closer you are to the lobby, the more foot traffic there is going past the room. Some people forget to use their "inside voice" even very early in the morning or late at night.

Very true about the hallway noise close to the elevators. I guess you win some, you lose some. Obviously I'm okay with the idea of getting a parking lot view since we didn't book savanna view, it'd just be nice to be able to people watch or see something other than parked cars. ;)

I'm thinking of putting in this request for our early January stay. We do have 3 kids (ages 10,8,5) - but they're used to walking if it's not too far.

Does anybody know how far it is from a "close to the pool" room to the bus stops? Either in yards, 0.XX miles, etc.?

We checked in online about two weeks ago and the only request option it gave was which savannah we wanted.

I stayed in a standard view studio. It was the third bead facing the service road and at the end of the savannah. There were animals under the balcony.

I second this. We live in the country, so we're not used to traffic noise at all. We were the first room around the corner from the elevator, 7401 and 7403 (2br). When I saw the view, I was pretty bummed, because I thought it would be loud, right overlooking the portico. I don't know kind of superhero glass those sliding doors are made of, but I told dh, I want those!!! We could see constant traffic from taxis and shuttles, but really couldn't hear it at all.
