Hopefully some others will be joining us on the spring break cruise out of Galveston. Just booked this morning too excited!

booked today.

Will be the first cruise ever for the kids, and first Disney Cruise for us adults (Carnival Conquest, Summer 2010).

We are very excited. After going to WDW four times since 06, its time for some different kind of Disney fun!

We have been twice since 07. I practically grew up in Disneyland so WDW is new to me. We have our first Disney cruise in 41 days so we are going to see how the kids like it. I am also going to try to reshop this cruise onboard to see if I can get a discount.

We just moved rooms from two connecting inside to one inside/one navigator balcony across the hall from each other.

Having five persons vs. four really does increase the costs on trips. :headache:

Tell me about it we have 5 too. We are currently booked in a 4E. Since we have a 1 year old I figured we would splurge and get a balcony while he has naps.

We are in 2 10A rooms for our cruise in 40 days to the MR but my mom is coming with us so she can help watch him sometimes when he is napping (he'll be 4 months when we sail).

Hi guys!! I booked this cruise on Jan. 26 too . I'm so excited about it. I had the Fantasy out of Port Canaveral while hoping that Disney would be in galveston for 2013. We are super excited. After we sail November 2012 this will be our fourth Dcl cruise.

Welcome NoodlesMom.

Do you cruise the other ships out of Galveston, or only DCL out of FL? Being right in your backyard, the others must be tempting. We justify going on DCL simply because it's 4 hours away vs. having to travel to FL.

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Have a great cruise!

Dh and I have cruised on the other lines but we would rather drive to go on Dcl with the kids. The other cruiseline are ok but nothing compared to Disney.

We are booked! Now just waiting to pack the bags. Our girls are trying to be patient but it is becoming hard. This will be a long year of waiting. Our girls are 6 and 2.

1st time cruising...1st time posting. So much to learn and read. If I want to start a Fish Extender group for 3/9/13 how do I do it? Do I use a different thread?

Hi guys,

Looks like we'll be joining you!

We just got back on 3-17-12 from the Magic and we liked it so much that we have two inside connecting staterooms on hold for Spring Break 2013 with you!

Biggsfamily, for the other cruise, the FE list was kept in the same thread. the member in charged asked whoever wanted to participate to send a personal message to her with cabin number, names of the people in the cabin, age of the kids and if anybody was celebrating anything special on the cruise. Then, one month before the cruise, we closed the FE participation list to allow everybody to get their gifts ready.

I have to say that distributing the FE gifts was one of the best way to get to know the ship and the boys were always excited to go back to our cabin to see if something had been delivered. :)

If anybody has questions, we are far from being veterans, but having just been on the Magic, and having read exhaustively the different threads on the Disboards, I'm pretty sure I can provide accurate responses to most questions.

This is going to be a long, long year to wait for it!

Also, I'll be posting a very long (and somewhat personal) trip report on the trip report thread if you want to read about our experience.

Welcome to all the new cruisers!

We just got off the Wonder on Sunday and we had a huge blast! I reshopped this cruise on board but had to go with a higher category because ours was sold out. But we were fortunate because our TA was able to drop the other reservation and snag our room back with the discount and OBC so we are now saving $700. Include the $500 card we get back from the TA and the $200 OBC the cruise is starting to look reasonable.

Another question for those of you who have cruised out of Galveston. I just tried to look at room rates (I know it is insanely early) but they appeared to be really expensive because of spring break in Galveston. Like $250/night. We were hoping to drive from Austin on Friday and stay the night but that looks crazy expensive. Has anyone cruised spring break and did you just pay up or stay in Houston somewhere? I guess 30 minutes wouldn't be too bad of a drive I just don't want to drive all the way from Austin the morning of the cruise. We'll probably stay the night and look around again when we get back but at $250/night I would rather have spending money for the ship :)

Try the Sheraton in Galveston. Last I checked the rooms were $169 and that hotel is right across from Pleasure Pier which is a really neat boardwalk that's being built right now. It is scheduled to open this summer. You should also check Seabrook, TX. It's near the Kemah Boardwalk which is also a fun attraction and you should find really decent hotel prices. I live in Houston and we are also considering a night in Galveston but I think I may stay the night after the cruise instead of before. If any of you guys have questions about the Houston/Galveston area feel free to ask. We visit Galveston regularly. We actually spent last weekend there and the island was PACKED for spring break. Definitely make your hotel reservations early to get the best prices.

Forgot to mention that Seabrook is about 20 minutes from Galveston.

Ok DISers,

I am officially starting a fish extender group for the 3-9-2013. The link provided above was a big confidence booster. So even though I have never participated in a FE before, let alone been on a cruise, I will do my best to facilitate this FE.

Please send me a personal message if you want to be part of the group. Once we accumulate 10 participants we will begin to discuss rules and everything else. If you have been invoked in a FE before please speak up and lend the group your experience. I want this to be fun an easy. (I tend to make things conveluted...so please help me)

I am looking very forward to next March.

Hello All,

I just made our reservations for this cruise. Still concentrating on my first cruise which sails in June but now have Spring Break 2013 ready to go.

So hello for now and I'll be back after cruise #1 is done.

Howdy fellow Texans (and any neighboring Southern states!):wave2:

Just booked a few days ago and are looking forward to NOT HAVING TO PAY AIRFARE for a Disney cruise!:rotfl: As if the prices of Disney cruises aren't high enough. (Yes, they're worth it, but I kept wishing upon a star that DCL would one day sail from Galveston so we could save what we'd pay in airfare for a future cruise deposit.)

As of now, it will be my DH Rob, our DD Rachel (who'll be 18 when we sail) her BFF Shanelle (17) and me, Priscilla. (Rob and I are both eligible to join AARP.) That's all I'm saying about our ages.:rolleyes1

My brother, DSIL, two nephews and niece are also booked (I need to tell them about this thread.)

Both of our families have participated in the FEs, and they're a lot of fun. I'll try to upload photos soon. I think it's a great idea!:)

Just also wanted to mention..when we sailed DCL in 2011, our DISboard group created a FB page as well. I know some people prefer not to join or use FB, and that's fine. We kept communication via both sites.:)

See ya real soon!
Priscilla

I just created a FB group for those here who would like to join.:)

In the FB search box.."DCL Magical Spring Break Cruise March 9, 2013"

Hope to see you there.:)
