What did you take to have signed? Post pictures please

There are tons of threads on this just look around a bit or use the search tool. Pillow cases, photo mats & vinylmations are all really popular items to have signed.

Driving home now so can't post a pic..but I purchased one of the animators palette plates in the fantasy gift shop and had it signed by the characters. Turned out great!

I took a standard pillow case, which I left with a pack of Sharpies, a note saying it was going to be a wedding present for my friend and a bag of candy and this is what I got back.

I saw an image of the vinylmation someone has signed. I LOVE the look and will be ordering one to have signed.

Where do you leave these items to get signed? In your room?

No you leave them with Guest Services. They will be returned to your stateroom at the end of the cruise.

Here is what we are having signed on our 5/19 cruise on the Fantasy:

The bank came from Target, and has a little chalkboard area to it. I used silver permanent marker to add 'Our Disney Fund' to it. We leave it accessible all of the time, and change and $1 and $5 bills go into it regularly. I think last count had just over $180 in it.

So, packing it might be a trick but that is what we will be taking for signatures.....can't wait!!!

What a great idea! I know the local craft stores sell similiar banks. Actually I have a blank one collecting dust as we speak....
Thanks for sharing

We didn't know we could do this on our first Disney Cruise on the Dream in August. We are going out of NYC on the Magic in August so I can't wait. My kids love getting autographs. I am thinking the pillowcase might be the way to go. I am thinking of getting them embroidered at a local store with kids names and Cruise info.

thanks for the tips! Kristina

We did a black Vinylmation, because the Disney Store online was having a great sale ($15 + S&H):

I know I've seen some really cute Mickey-themed things in the dishes section at Target, on an end-cap. Some of those might work well, too.

What did you use for the silver marker? A paint pen or do they have silver sharpies?

The black and silver look sharp!

It's probably a silver sharpie. More reliable and less likely to leak! We love silver sharpies (most of the kids' baseball caps are black and the silver is the only way to get a name on them!)

I've only ever done photo mats. Maybe I'll get a pillowcase for my nephew next time.

White with colored sharpies:

And a black one with a silver sharpie:

I used the black one for one of our formal pics and it turned out nicely. :)

Yup, silver Sharpie! It really does look awesome and it sits on a shelf in my kids' room as a perfect souvenir of our trip. The character cast members are absolute pros at writing on these things, too... they were able to perfectly go over joints and bends without any problems.

We've had photo mats signed in the past (see example below). We added the scrapbooking decorations first, as then it is clear what the orientation should be. If you go this route and want a picture from the cruise to go in it, make sure to ask the photographers to take at least one shot in the orientation you are looking for. (Also remember that the Shutters photos come in 8x10 or 6x8--if you have a mat with a 5x7 opening, you'll have to reprint the photo.)
This time we are taking a white 9" vinylmation.
I love the silver sharpie on black! I'll have to think about that for a mat or vinylmation for next time. :)
