Or something else...

What would you suggest if you've gone..

My son is going with friends to Atlantis but I'm thinking of not paying for 3 others to go as well - my daughter WILL NOT slide or anything at Atlantis.. Maybe at a resort hotel she will...

Maybe head to the Sheraton and back to the ship?

Whatcha think? :)

Thanks!

We did the Sheraton a few weeks ago when we are on the Dream in March and I would recommend it. It was about a 15 min cab ride which cost around $15 each way. The pools were great, there was a trampoline in the ocean that the kids jumped on, there was a large blow up water slide that you had to pay to go down but was fun. There were also kayaks and large water tricycles you could use for free. We did get a room for the day but probably didn't really need it. It was nice to shower though and go back to the ship clean. We just took snacks from the ship so didn't buy any food. Let me know if you have any more questions. Below is the letter with the info I received from them.

Thanks!!!

It was either Sheraton or Wyndham and I thought u could use both - they were sister properties.. I think the Wyndham had a slide at the pool.

Were you bothered with locals and hair products?

I thought you could also walk to the hotel from the pier.. Oh well, guess I missed out on a few details ;)

No, you definitely can't walk. It was a 15-20 cab ride depending on traffic and how many ships were in port.

I don't believe you can use both the Wyndham and the Sheraton, although we didn't try and they may not check. We didn't get wristbands or anything since we got the room.

We were not bothered by vendors. There was one man on the beach selling t-shirts and we did not see anyone else.

We stayed at the Wyndham a few years ago and were able to access all the facilities of both resorts. I'm not sure if this changed or if it is different when you buy a day pass, but when we were there they were definitely considered "sister resorts." We also headed back there when we were on the Disney Wonder in 2009. We took one of the "Jitney's" (local buses) that picked us up right across from the straw market (about a 10 minute walk from the pier). It only costs $1 per person. We went to the beach in between the two resorts and also laid by the Wyndham pool. We did not pay for day passes and had no issues. We then took the Jitney back for another $2. This was a very low cost and enjoyable way to spend the day.

I believe that is the Hilton that you can walk to from the pier. I think it's $50.00 for a day pass. We are looking into this. I contacted the hotel and it needs to be booked by using this link:

I just called and booked for our upcoming cruise (May 1st).

We have 2 adults/ 2 kids and the price INCLUDING all taxes, etc was only $99. This is for full access AND a room from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

We did this in '09 after being diverted from Cozumel (H1N1). It was a very memorable day. We did not book in advance and expected to pay ~$50pp, but got lucky. The desk lady comp'd all 4 of us with free day passes (no room). :cool1:

We spent a few hours in the morning playing in the multiple pools/water features at the Sheraton. Our then-5-year olds had a blast walking through the waterfall and chasing each other through the narrow ~30in deep waterways. We ate lunch at the restaurant near the beach and I think I recall the pool next to the restaurant had a swim-up bar.

Then we wandered over to the Wyndham and went up and down the big slide over and over. I don't think there was a height limit for the slide since our kids went down by themselves (they are small for their age), but I did have to wait at the bottom to catch them, since the receiving pool was several feet deep. You can see the slide on their website. It's not super steep or super fast, but long and winding and keeps you moving at a nice pace.

We did the Sheraton last year and were able to access the pools at the Wyndham as well. We started off at the Sheraton, played, had lunch, then spent the afternoon using the slide.

We are planning on this again this time around.

We did the Hilton a few years ago (Carnival cruise). It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the pier and once you are at the Hilton, their private beach is looking right at the ships.

I emailed the Hilton directly to book and just had my email when we got there. Didn't pay ahead. I think it was ~$40/adult and maybe $20/child.

Benefits...depending on what you are looking for...it was QUIET! The pool was very nice (no slide/no bells and whistles) though they had float stuff like noodles etc.

The beach was small and private so you really felt relaxed. There were ship members there so I think they always know the 'best' places for relaxing on their rare days off!!

Kayaks were free of charge and readily available.

There is a pool bar as well.

IF you want down time and no hustle/bustle, I recommend the Hilton. Though it sounds like the Sheraton/Wyndham are lots of fun.

:scratchin Hmmm. I did e-mail the hotel directly. They are the ones who sent me the link to book through. :confused3 Perhaps they changed their policy.
I would prefer not to pay ahead of time, should we change our minds.
