Question about smoking on verandahs

Yes, no smoking restrictions at all on the stateroom verandas.

Last time we cruised, we noticed a small placard on the veranda that asks you to be mindful of smoke drifting to adjacent verandas and to consider refraining from smoking out there.

Yes, the sign asking people to be considerate has always been there. I was trying to find a picture of it when the smoking thread was going last week, but couldn't find it.

While we are on the subject, did I read that Deck 13 on Fantasy is smoking on port side? All reports and info I had read prior to sail, indicated starboard. That seems odd, because one side, starboard, was adults, and one side family, port. So have they flipped the sides? I booked a specific cabin based on previous intel. Can anyone confirm. This could develop into an uncomfortable situation. So I assume if deck 13 is going to be port then deck 12 and 11 will be also port? Seems odd they would have a different side for different ships for smoking.

People can smoke on any balcony, on either side of the ship.

On Deck 13, the smoking area is on the Starboard side, next to Currents Bar. There is a family section, but it's on the other (port) side. The only time this was a "problem" was the night they did the fireworks, when families wanted to sit on the Starboard side (where the smoking is) and then they complained.

On Deck 12, in the far aft, there is a smoking area outside Meridian, and it is on the Port side.

Deck 4, Starboard, smoking is allowed only after 6 pm.

There is NO smoking on Deck 11 at all.

I hope it was based on an error, we all know how well folks know starboard and port. In one report, perhaps a TP, they said they were trying to be consistent across ALL cruise companies? ***? I don't know. Are other companies port side? All I know is I committed to a cabin a year ago based on past rules. I hope you are correct that smoking is still starboard on Fantasy.

I thought you could smoke, starboard, deck 11, Dream Class, adult area, Cove?

I'm curious why your cabin location would matter as far as smoking on an outside upper deck? The smoke won't come down to your balcony.

As for the Cove area on the Dream and Fantasy....NO....no smoking there. It was allowed there on the Magic and Wonder, never on the new ships. I'm not sure if they've changed that on the older ships also.


With the different cruise lines I've been on, smoking areas are almost always typically on the Starboard side. In double checking where they are on the Dream/Fantasy, I looked at the deck plans that mark "Starboard" and "Port", just to make sure I wasn't confused.

On the Fantasy, they didn't move the smoking area by Currents bar to the port side...it's still on Starboard, because they added other adult features forward on the Starboard side...making that whole Starboard side on Deck 13 for adults.

Well, perhaps I booked just below 13 and had delusions of a smoke free environment. Or, maybe, I booked starboard 12 , closest to smoking section to minimize my affect on others. Or perhaps I'm just forcing the details out for all to understand and enjoy.

I wasn't picking on you...I truly was curious. The smoking above you really won't be a problem. It blows up and out. But the verandah next door could be. I'd worry (well, I wouldn't worry at all, I'd just go have a great time) but anyway, if you really are wondering or worrying, the verandah would be more of a risk.
