Easter week... good food and service at every restaurant!

Was in WDW for a short 4 day trip during Easter week. I was worried about dining as so many reviews I read had been so critical of the quality of service and food. This was my 6th trip to WDW so I am not a newbie by any stretch. However it was my first trip without my kids (DD in college and couldn't go, DS there at WDW but with his marching band) so we tried a few places new to us and a few we hadn't been to in many years. Did not eat any breakfasts out, just lunch and dinner. Had PS for the following places, never had to wait for more than 5-10 min even when we checked in significantly early. Engage your servers! We had some really interesting and helpful servers who made great wine recommendations, food suggestions or just told us about themselves and their country, really adds to the experience.

Lunch:
Sci-Fi (fun and surprisingly good food)
Via Napoli (pizza and salad, zeppole to die for)
Plaza (club sand, ice teas and air conditioning with a castle view)
Rose and Crown (shady spot on terrace, great view and waitress)

Dinner:
Cali Grill (poor first table location, very nicely asked if there was any other choice, waited 10 min then given most awesome window seat! Really good food, fireworks right from our table, special experience)
Jiko (was our friends choice and we ended up really liking it. Awesome appetizer and wine, good entres, very quiet and good for conversation)
San Angel Inn (much maligned in reviews, but had a nice table, good drinks and really pleasant dinner, not up to Cali Grill or Jiko quality for still very tasty no complaints)
Ill Mulino at Swan (great food and service however we did not care for the atmosphere, very loud, table placements poor, probably the only place we wouldn't return to but not because of food)

Thanks for sharing your experience. My family really enjoys the Cuisine and the dining experience at Disney, and it's always nice to read about another positive experience. It seems all anyone does anymore is complain.

thx for posting!...... just curious which pizza you had at via napoli???

DH and I shared the individual sauage pizza and we had the family salad for two. He had a fresco drink and I had ice tea. It was soooo hot that day we needed to cool off inside in the ac and not over eat. We did order dessert which was awesome. We really liked this place for lunch.

yummy. Sounds good! So the individual pizza was enough for you two to share?

We are going to Sci Fi for the first time soon. Can you share with us what you ordered?

For us it was, it is good size, has 4 large slices. I ate 1.5 and DH ate 2.5 and we did get the salads as well. We thought about ordering an app but really wanted dessert instead. We shared that as well.

I had the turkey sand on whole grain with lettuce, tomato and avacado mayo. DH had a burger with mushrooms. We both had the cucumber salad which was really good. It was so hot out that fries just sounded too heavy. I had ice tea and DH had a vanilla coke. I would eat there again for lunch, not so sure about the more entree like items.

What I noticed between this Easter week and last year's Easter week:

Last year, good room discounts, crowded restaurants, absolutely no walk ins.

This year, no room discounts, walk in availability at most places, esp at lunchtime, very good service and food was nicely prepared.

I went to Cali Grill and before being seated, I specifically asked for a window table. The server asked me to wait a minute, then came back with a very nice table by the window. I guess if you don't ask they try for a non-window table.

We were there the week before you and also found the food and service outstanding. We were there during Free Dining and the parks were packed, but the restaurants were taking walk ups (even 'Ohana) and we had very short waits to be seated.

What a view from CG! Thanks for posting your reviews.

We were there Easter week as well, and also had good experiences. To be honest, I was quite surprised that the TS restaurants were not that crowded. We went Easter week in 2007 and there were no ADR's to be found. This time, I was changing our ADRs up to the last minute with no problems.
