Rental Car Return ? Before we Head to Universal

We plan on renting a car on our arrival at MCO airport and we will be staying at Bonnet Creek Resorts for a full week. After our stay at Bonnet Creek we plan on staying on site at universal studios at the portofino bay hotel

My ? is we would not be needing the rental car while at universal. Where can I drop the rental car off before we get to universal

do they have a rental car pick up at universal?

what would you do in this scenario?

Should we just keep the car onsite at universal as well. What is the parking fee per day?

I have been researching rental prices and it seems almost double if you rent at MCO and return it elsewhere. I am thinking we will keep the rental for the entire time and return it to MCO when we fly out. There are places all over Orlando that you can return it, but watch the prices. I think Enterprise will pick it up. The quote I got from them was almost triple. If you are staying at a Universal hotel there should be no fee for parking it there.

I don't really think you'll need the car at Universal. You might want to keep it if you need to get back to the airport and find the cost high for a shuttle versus what it would be to just keep it.
Yes you have to pay to park at the hotel. I'm not a fan of that .. kind of think that 15 bucks or 17 bucks or whatever it is per day should be built in to the 180 a night I'm already paying but that's another post for another time:rotfl:

There is a Hertz rental place onsite at Universal. I know it lists the location at each hotel, but I don't know if there is one desk at all 3 or a central onsite location for all three. I find Hertz kind of expensive compared to the others though.

There is a Budget at hotel very close by but I don't remember exactly which one (Doubletree maybe?).

We do the same thing each trip and we just keep the car since you would need to pay for transportation back to the airport and depending on the number in your party that can add up. The cost to park is - $17 for self-parking and $24 for valet. Since we travel in Aug. and I'm on vacation it is valet for us at Universal and Disney. I like having the car all cooled off by the time we get in.

I would keep the car. I just checked and one of the transportation companies charges $65 per person plus tip for a one way trip from Universal to MCO.

As a former enterprise employee, I can assure you they will not pick it up. There may be a rare case, but it's definitely against policy.

If you return the car to the office, they will give you a ride to your hotel (within reason). Check with the individual office to ensure that your hotel is within a resonable distance.
