Tell me about the Hoop De Doo

We will be arriving on a Sunday afternoon and I am thinking that Hoop De Doo might be a nice way to start the magic. We are staying at A0A so what would be our best stragegy - take the bus to HS and then transfer? I have heard that this can add a lot of time to your travel plans - what should I allow for travel time??

HDDR is a lot of fun. The food is very simple but good and the show is on the silly side but fun. I think it's a not to be missed experience.

The best way to get there is to take the bus to MK and then get on the boat to FW. From there it's a very short walk to Pioneer Hall. Allow at least an hour to get there....an extra 30 minutes if you need to get your tickets after you arrive at the hall.

good day all

This is the second thread that I've seen you post in with nothing to add to the topic....posting just to boost your count is not cool. The mods don't take kindly to it either.

ETA: make that 5 threads....and I bet the count will go higher.

We love the HDDR, but I don't think I would plan for it on arrival day. You didn't say how you were traveling, but if it is by air, there are way too many ways for arrival to be delayed, putting your dinner plans in jeopardy.
Plus traveling is tiring. We find we like to do something simple and hit bed relatively early to be ready for an early start to our vacation in the morning.
That said -- I don't know how far AoA is from FW, but Disney tells you to leave 90 minutes travel time from place to place. That is especially true, as getting to Pioneer Hall always involves transfers. So I would leave at least 90 minutes, maybe a bit more.
Enjoy.

If a bus to the Magic Kingdom shows up right away, you could take it and then stroll over to the boat dock at the Contemporary Resort for a boat to Fort Wilderness. The walk from the Magic Kingdom to the Contemporary Resort is short and pleasurable to us, and the boat ride is nice, too.

The Hoop Dee Doo would be a nice way to start the magic. If you are arriving early in the day, I would not worry too much. If you are arriving later in the day, it might be stressful. Another option is to take a taxi cab to Pioneer Hall and ride the bus system back to the resort. It is a little extra expense, but might be worth it.

With the bus system to pioneer hall, about how long would that take? We are thinking of cabbing it on the night we go. Also, has any one heard anything about the Closing Of Hoop Dee Do, possibly for a refurb? I've seen it mentioned that the closing was pushed back but I can't seem to find info that states what is going on and for how long.

Thank you for the assistance!

Although I love Hoop De Doo, I would never pick something that was prepaid, nonrefundable for my first night if I'm having to travel a great distance. We travel a lot and we've had too many problems with flights and I would not want to be out all of that money and miss the show because a flight got delayed, cancelled, etc.

We are arriving this Wed and I booked us for a 4pm dinner at HDDR. I wasn't even thinking about the possibility of travel delays. If I cancel today, do you think there's a chance we could get a Cat1 table reservation when we arrive to Orlando?

We love the HDDR and we plan it every trip. The boat from MK is the easiest way to get there in my opinion. Its not a long boat ride at all and you're dropped off not far from Pioneer Hall. We like to get there about 45 minutes early and have a drink while we wait on the porch next door.

I would wait a night or two into your trip to do Hoop Dee Doo. Aside from travel to Ft. Wilderness, there is waiting to get checked in, getting your picture taken, and then waiting again until they open the doors to the show. Don't get me wrong, it is a fun night. But on arrival day, I would want to do something a little more relaxing. JMO.

What kind of food is at this show?

They serve fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, baked beans, salad, and strawberry shortcake. It includes soda, milk, bud light and few other beverages. If someone does not like the food served, the chef will come to the table and offer to make something else. They made my son pasta with marinara sauce. There were many other options given not listed on the menu. They were very accommodating.:thumbsup2
