First time staying at OKW (in a studio). I tried searching for this info, but i can't find anything, so i must be doing the search wrong. So, my questions are:

1. Have all studios been refurbished? If not, does anyone know what areas have not been?

2. In the South Point area (i'm thinking bldgs 45, 46, 55), do some studios face the water, and some face the road? Another way of asking...do the studios take up the width of the bldg, or is there some kind of hallway, where some rooms look out the back, and some look out the front?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, i can't quite picture the room layouts.
Thanks!

1. All the villas have been refurbished.
2. Most of the studios are at the ends of the buildings. But the entrances to all the villas (studios through GV) are all on the parking lot side of the building. The back side of the building is where the porch is located. So the villas extend the entire width of the building from front to back. But some extend further ot the back because their porches are larger. Studios have smaller porches. All entrances are outside; no inside corridors.

The OKW room we had this past Feb was not refurb. 3010 or 3110 was the room number.

So did it still have the carpet and the old colors? That's strange, because they were announced as all being completed back in the spring of 2010.

Thank you Deb! That's exactly what i was hoping to find out.

We are just back from OKW and it looks like they are still refurbishing in the South Point area. Can't remember the building numbers, but they are located near the bus stop on the way to the pool and the path to DD. There were plenty of workers there every day early in the morning. Couldn't see past the construction walls to see what exactly what stage they were in. I assume this is the last of the refurbishing.

As noted, the Studios in 45,46 and 55 are all on the end of the first and second floors of those buildings and the patio/balconies of those studios all face the Trumbo Canal.

The OKW refurbishment was completed in Spring, 2011 but there is often ongoing maintenance so there are usually some buildings taped off for repair.

Here is a link to the OKW Building configuration.

Here is a look at Building 46 from across the Trumbo canal. Building 45 is to the right and Building 55 is to the left all on the same canal.

What you saw is regular exterior maintenance. All those South Point buildings were refurbished inside a long time ago. OKW does routine exterior maintenance every two years and usually close a building or two at a time to do so.

Hi all, i'm the OP. this caught my eye...is there a path somewhere in the south point area that leads to Downtown Disney? it looked to me like you could scoot up alongside one of the holes on the golf course, but i would think that would be frowned upon??

Yes, the paved path runs across a bridge near building 55 at South Point. You walk across the bridge and hang a left on the paved path that the housekeepers take in the morning when they bring their carts over from SSR.

yep - stay off the golf course paths.

here are better directions to use to walk to DTD from OKW. (they might be a little dated with the THVs now - not sure.)

Yes, there is a walkway along the canal, not quite a mile long walk. The path is accessed near bldg 55. The path is not lighted, it should be used in the daytime only.

I didn't realize this. We will be staying at OKW for two nights pre-cruise, then picking up a rental car at DTD to drive to the port. Will make it easy to walk over to pick up our car!
