I scored a reservation this AM and have to call MS to add on a day tomorrow. What room request should I add on too. Are the lower floors better for animal viewing? Thanks
:cool1:

Lower floors puts you closer to the animals. Stay away from the Pembe Savanna.

Many believe lower floor gives you a more direct sight line to the animals. I take any floor because I also like the more panoramic high floor view.

The main question is: do you like walking from the base of the World Of Nations at Epcot to Germany? Now answer that same question when you have just got back to Kidani via bus from a long day at a park and have young ones in tow. Because that is the approximate walking distance from the lobby to the end rooms on the north wing at Kidani. It is the longest walk down an internal hallway from lobby to room that exists in any hotel on earth. If you want to avoid that, you either have a car that you take to the parks because you can park the car in the parking lot beneath the building and be close to your room because there are multiple elevators along the wings, or you better make a request for room location such as "close to lobby," "near community hall," or "across from pool area" and make one of those your No. 1 request before lower floor or any others. You may also request sunset savanna view as a secondary request if you want to see giraffes.

Ok sounds good so which is better? Pool lobby or hall? No little ones with us or car for that matter. I stayed at jambo and remember how far a walk it was to our room. Is this the same? Also as far as giraffes - yes we want to see them. You can only view them at the sunset savanna? Are there a limited number of rooms here. How many savannas are there. Sorry so many questions.

It's a personal preference. Pembe savannah doesn't have giraffes or zebras, but they have okapis!:goodvibes. I was very, very happy to have a Pembe savannah room, we saw the red river hogs lots of times, as well as the okapi!

One problem is you could see the boundary fence, still, our January stay was wonderful, well,we did have the very last room, so it was a very very long walk.

If you have walked from lobby to a room at the very end of the hall at Jambo then all you need to do is multiply that distance by 2.5 to get from lobby to end room on the north wing at Kidani.

If you request close to lobby or near community hall, those are close to the same request since community hall is on the south wing right near the lobby. If you get either of those requests, you automatically will get Sunset savanna view which has giraffes. About 75% of all savanna view rooms at Kidani are on the Sunset Savanna. Pembe Savanna is to the north/northwest of the resort and starts quite a distance away from the lobby.

Is it really longer than the walk at Boardwalk Villas? Our last trip was spent in a 2BR almost to the end near JellyRollls, and that seemed like miles from the elevator.

We were at Jambo last year and that was a much longer walk then inside boardwalk by JellyRolls. So if they are saying that I have to multiply Jambo distance by 2.5 to get from lobby to end room on the north wing at Kidani, then I would have to say yes. LOl

I have often done that same walk at BWV. For Kidani multiply by 4.

What is the difference? What kind of view do you get with a value vs. a standard, vs. savanna view reservation? Help me justify the added cost or forgo it.

Thanks,

All the values are at Jambo.. we had 1 last year with a perfect Savanna view.. Giraffes and zebras and other things.. my husband and sons were across the hall facing a parking lot.. The value rooms are a bit smaller than standard but Ive done some research on them and the majority of value rooms face the savanna or pool.. I would stay in a value room again no questions asked!

We are staying in a 2 bedroom villa in Kidani. We have 5 little ones and I am already worried about all the negative press about the bus schedules. My kids want to see abundant giraffes and zebras. Any suggestions on where we should request to stay?

Thanks.
