Alamo Rental Question

I reserved a car through Alamo April 28-30. Ideally, I'd like to pick it up on Walt Disney World property as I will be staying at OKW for 2 nights already. When I priced out picking the car up at either the Dolphin or the Car Care Center, the price jumped up $80.
Anyone know why it is more expensive to pick up the car on property than it is at the airport?
Also, I haven't read the fine print, but does the AP Alamo rate not count for 2 day rentals?

You did not say where you are returning it, if you are not returning it to the CCC or Dolphin and are returning it to MCO, then the rate would be more expensive as it is considered a one way rental. I don't know about the AP rate, I would read the requirements.
If you join Insiders (you get approx. 10% off your rentals) the difference would only be about 20.00.

simple supply and demand.....there are a lot fewer cars available than at mco.
we have rented vehicles at the dolphin alamo or national for many years, and found that prices go up and codes/coupons are no longer valid the closer it gets to the date of rental (codes/coupons normally have a use limit for each facility).

almost every time we go there are ppl trying to rent without a reservation, and there have been a number of times when they had no more vehicles available (agents can check CCC and MCO however).

on a side note: we still might pay a bit more (closer to $20 more for the week), but prefer the relaxation of DME, the convenience of the dolphin (easy to drop off a day early), and the excellent service we get there vs MCO.
the desk agents know us now, and as i always tell them, are a wonderful start to our wdw vacations :)

I have found that cars are generally more expensive at the Dolphin or the Car Care Center. However, I have found SUV's to be less expensive. Check out different car types as well. Not sure the details of the AP Alamo rate.

Thanks for the info.
I originally wanted to pick up the car at the Swan/Dolphin or the Car Care Center on April 28 and drop it off on April 30 at MCO, just for convenience.

Since I am checking out of OKW on April 28 and going to stay with family for two nights (hence the rental car), picking up the car on property would be nice. The prices were almost $100 more for picking up the car on Disney property versus picking up at the airport.

renting from CCC or Dolphin and returning it to MCO you are "not" charged a one way rental charge. We have rented many many times and have never been charge a one way rental fee.
These two locations are considered local rental offices and they don't offer the great rates that the airport location does. They are renting space at each location and have to alocate for the rental of the space.

I would just rent from MCO. I have had great luck with my last two weekly rentals and paid less than $100 for a mid size. Once in 2011 and again in 2012 Be sure to join the Insiders program which is free and you will get better rates and coupons that are not offered to those who do not belong to the program. And keep an eye out for discount codes on here!

I just looked at your rental dates using my Insiders ID and to rent from MCO the total cost for a full size is $70 and the CCC would be $112. There is also a $10 off coupon available to Insiders members that would make the rental cheaper!

If you are a costco member they have an offer of $67 for a SUV for a rental from 4-27 to 4-30 (you get one free day!)

When you rent in one location and return to another location it is considered a one way rental and the prices are almost always higher than a round trip rental. It may not be charged as a one way fee, however, it is built into the rate.
MCO pays rent at the airport also, and it is listed on the contract as a customer facility charge and an airport access fee, at the offsite locations it is listed as a Landlord concession recovery.
Check any coupons as they almost always need a Saturday night keep.

I wish I was a Costco member!

I just checked again for my dates and the rates went up a little bit.

When I reserved the other day, I was able to get a $124.00 rate. I am under 25 so I get charged extra for that... (that's part of the problem)

I am satisfied with the rate I did get, but it would be nice to pick up on Disney property.

I am planning on taking the Magical Express from OKW to the airport to pick up my car. Is this allowed? I just have to provide flight information. Can I make that up? I realize this might ruffle some feathers, but it is just me. Has anyone done this before?

Thanks!

I believe that is allowed IF you are actually flying. I would call ME and ask.
