Wanting input from those of you who have stayed at the THV. We well have 2 units. How far apart are they. Well it be a pain if traveling with 2 families, going from one to another? We have 8 kids, is the transporation that muuch of a problem if we dont have a car? I am torn whether I should change to a different resort or stay at the 2 Villas we reserved. We only get to come every other year so trying to make the best decision for our group. Cost of THV points well go up, so should we keep this res? Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

The worst case maximum distance between two THV villas is less than the possible worst case you might encounter at SSR, OKW or AKV. I would think two families would love having two THV villas - particularly the kids!

THV is definitely worth it. We stayed in 1 in November with family. If you hav 8 people total, make it a grand gathering, and request with MS the villas be close together. We like South end, canal view.

I loved the THV except for the bunk beds. (I have a thread on those.)

I loved them with a minivan for transportation. If I had to use Disney transportation, I'd say not so much.

But with two families already booked, I'd keep the reservation and try it for yourself. With the point increase for 2013, I am really not very likely to ever stay there again. I'd prefer the other two bedroom units with 3 baths and 2 bedrooms over the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths at THV.

I too would keep the res. get a "traveling with number' attached to the reservations and hopefully you will be close. I requested THV near SSR path since my parents were staying at SSR - and requested for them to be in the Grand stand area at SSR closet to the path our requests were met and even though it was about a 5 min walk we still considered it close and did meals together. When checking in make sure you ask if you are close just in case something was over looked they will do there best to get you close.

I stayed at the THV on our last visit and LOVED it :lovestruc!!!! You don't need a car at all, transporation is not an issue once you get the hang of it. There is an intra resort shuttle back and forth between Saratoga and the THV. You can also walk, it really isn't that far. With two units I would most definitely call a day or so before you arrive and request that they be next to or near each other, that should be ok. Keep your ressie at THV you are in for a big treat!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

I think a 2 THV family/friend vacation would be a lot of fun. Our DGC and family have brought their bikes and love to ride around the THV area to/from other parts of SSR.

We've used Disney transportation for most of our stays there and have found it to be convenient.

I would keep the trip as is!

We stayed there once and I don't want to do it again without a car. Now if the kids are all older and can walk to Grandstand easily, it might be OK, but if you take the shuttle it adds probably 30 minutes to your average trip. We had a 3 and 5 year old, as well as grandma, and I didn't think walking was an option. I also found it really annoying that there is a stop just as the shuttle enters the THVs, but not one just as it leaves, which meant on two days we watched the shuttle drive by us on its way out...

Keep the reservations. I would call now and request that they be together. The THV set-up is that there are groups of THVs that share the same parking spots. We stayed in Feb, 7035 and were close to the path to SSR. Beware of golf balls in 7035 as our rental windshield got smashed, good news I brought home a dozen golf balls, many with mickey logo.

Regarding car vs. Bus transport. We had a car and except for going to magic kingdom, we preferred car transport from a total time standpoint. Since MAgic kingdom requires parking at the ticket and transportation center, the time savings is a bit reduced.

My 16yo and 6yo had no issues with the bunk beds. We loved the space the extra bedroom affords and will likely stay at the THVs again in the future, although I am disappointed with the point increase.
