*~* Official POFQ September 2012 Roll Call - List in Post 1 - Join Us! *~*

Is there a POFQ roll call for May? We are going for the first time ever to WDW May 16-22!! Super excited. Celebrating DD and DS 5th birthday while we are there!! :) I can't wait. I think they are going to love it. DD (10) and DS(8) are already talking about the pool slide at POFQ. :thumbsup2

I have not seen one ... don't let that stop you from starting one of your own ;) Have a great time on your first trip - how exciting for you and your family! :goodvibes

Aww, thanks!! That must have been take maybe 3 years ago? It was while we were waiting to be called into Chef Mickey's and I was falling asleep. LOL I had to start taking some pictures to keep myself awake. :rotfl:

I did pretty good getting what we wanted even though it was short notice. I had planned on us going 9/18 to 9/26 but then we made the quick decision to go much earlier which gave me a few hours to figure out our schedule and where we wanted to make ADR's. Luckily online dining cooperated and we only had to call about 2 reservations. :goodvibes

They are so adorable - I love the outfits, too. We don't have kids and have never been to Chef M's, but I've heard the waits can be outrageously long. Was the food/interaction worth it?

You did get lucky getting online ADRs. So many people have been having problems (myself included). I'm diabetic, though, so I knew I would have to call in at some point anyhow to get that added on.

Seems like T-Rex is the one people are having the most difficulty getting, but I've read everywhere on here that you should just call them directly for your ADR as opposed to trying the online system or Disney dining.

We'll be there September 15 - 22nd! I'm so excited. :cool1:We've always stayed in a Value and loved it so I know we'll be really excited with POFQ. Our kids have such a huge age difference (2 and almost 11 when we travel) that Disney and the beach are really the only two vacations where we can please everyone. And, well, I'd rather go to Disney any day! With free dining it seems to work out cheaper than the beach every time! :teacher:

I'm nervous about the buses. We've always had really great bus service at the Values. It's the one complaint I tend to see about Port Orleans. But, I'm not going to fret about it. We'll have a car if we need it.

I got all the ADRs we wanted for the times we wanted them. So far it is a charmed trip! :woohoo:

Thank you , he is already excited and checks how many days are left everyday. This will actually be our first anniversary, so there will be no better way to spend it than on a great vacation at Disney.

:welcome: Looks like we will be there at the same time!

I too have read things about the bus service, but what I always try and remember is that they pick up at FQ first and drop off at FQ first. I am hoping that will work out to our advantage and that we'll actually be able to ride sitting this time (no sitting for us at POP last year at all). Lucky you to have a vehicle. We're doing the KTTK tour on a day with early EMHs, and I'm sweating getting there using the bus! We're actually considering renting a car for a day just so I can quit worrying about it LOL

Congrats on getting all your ADRs! Are you planning to do MNSSHP?

Aww that is so cute! :goodvibes Congrats on your first anniversary - I got goosebumps when I read that LOL  Seriously though, there is no better place for that! Had you thought of getting a "celebration cake" while you're there? Make sure you have it noted on your reservation that it is your anniversary, and get the pins when you check-in. ;)

We took our honeymoon to Florida and spent several days at WDW (no resort, just the parks), and have celebrated many anniversaries there since. Last year was the first time we stayed at the resort for our anniversary - we're going back this year for our 13th wedding anniversary - I can see it happening a lot in the future! pixiedust:

We're headed to POFQ for the first time this fall, too.

August 26-September 3. Haven't told the kids, yet :)

Can't wait to see how the mods compare to the values! So excited!

:welcome: to our growing group! Glad to have you aboard.

Were you able to get the FD promo? How are you planning to tell the kids?

I'll add you to the list! :goodvibes

DD is 6..I don't think she will be suspicious because my mom and grandmother are going to fly down a few days before and then my grandma will be going home the night before we leave and I'm going to tell dd that we have to take my mother to a different airport the next day. We have friends and family visit often and a couple times we have had to go to the Orlando or Tampa airports to drop off our visitors so we should be able to pull it off.

I love POFQ. We just stayed at the beach club and everytime we drove past the French quarter I felt homesick! I can't wait to go back..I hope all the first timers love it as much as we do!

This sounds great! You'll have to post afterwards and let us know how it went over. ;)

We're so excited to be staying at POFQ. Is it really as "grown-up" of an atmosphere as it looks (remember, we stayed at POP last time LOL)?

Who is going to be at POFQ this coming September? From other posts I've seen, there are a bunch of us. Join in!

Add me please! We (DH, DS 8, DS 6, DS 21mos, and myself) will arrive on Sept 20th, and depart on Sept 29th. We have a Garden View, and I am not sure what that is going to mean, since it seems like a new room cat. We have the Free DDP, upgraded to DxDP.

I am so excited. I have never stayed at this resort before, but always wanted to. The only problem is my DH is not overly thrilled about staying here. We are from New Orleans, and he feels since we live in the real place that the Disney version will seem too hokey or over the top. However, like I told our TA, we are going to Disney and it doesn't really matter where we stay!!!
Any advice for a first timer?

Backstory: Our nephew used to be a CM. He met his wife at MK (she was a CM, also). She is from Louisiana. Her parents still live there.

Anyhoo, whenever they come to Florida, they always stay at POFQ because they say it reminds them of home. That's the only place they will stay. Make you feel better? ;)

I'll get you added to the list on the front page. And as a side note completely unrelated, CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss thus far! :cheer2:

We're so excited to be staying at POFQ. Is it really as "grown-up" of an atmosphere as it looks (remember, we stayed at POP last time LOL)?

I would say the atmosphere is very relaxed. I think it's great for adults, couples and families. We went last march during spring break and it was a really busy and high crowd week at Disney but you would never know it coming back to the resort. It's great because it's not as large and spread out as the other moderate resorts so I think it would be impossible to have a room in a bad location. The boat ride to downtown Disney was really nice and it's just a beautiful resort. I've stayed at pop as well and it is very different. I thought pop was fun and my daughter liked it but in comparison pop is really loud and busy and it's great in a different way. But I LOVE the French quarter. It's a great place to relax after a busy day at the parks..I hope you have a great trip!

So, a couple of questions for you guys...WHY did you PICK POFQ?

We knew we wanted to go w/ a moderate resort and I liked the idea that POFQ was a little smaller and easier to get around. Also, heard that when POR and POFQ share buses, it stops at POFQ first. Oh! and the boat to DTD sounded like a lot of fun too! :goodvibes

This will be second trip to the resorts (I have been to disney a total of 5 times), and our first in a moderate....woohoo! We did stay in ASMo last time which was around 7 or 8 years ago.
Well this will be our first trip as a family of 5, and even though I know we could have stayed at POP with no problems(the baby is under 2), *I* felt we needed more space. Not to mention the FD at Moderates vs QDP, it felt like a no brainer. It was narrowed down even further with the fact that DH was a CM at CBR and didn't really want to stay there, and we think that CSR seems to have too much of a grown up feel.

Everyone's ADRs sound great!

What I want to know is ... who is planning/hoping to go to MNSSHP? DH and I are definitely going - it will be our first time! And yep, we're dressing up too!
We went to MNSSHP in 09, and with our kids we felt it wasn't worth it unless we don't do another park that day, or maybe when our boys are older and can stay up later. When we went it was very crowded(especially since it was still Sept) and our little ones were just too worn out. This year we are going to play it by ear...if we feel they can hang, then we'll buy the tix then.
:welcome: to our group!

Thank you so much! That story does make me feel better, and it isn't the first time I have heard of that happening!
Thanks on the congrats! I am working very hard, I have about 100lbs to really lose, and hope to be at least 1/3 or 1/2 way there by our travel dates.
My DH just lost 85 lbs! He is smaller then when we met, and he is in the best shape. Looking back at our last trip(before he started losing, it is such a huge difference!)...

We are celebrating this trip...DH and I are celebrating our 9th Anniversary, DS8 will turn 8 on Sept 22nd(this is his second birthday trip to the world and DH is afraid we are setting a bad precedent! lol), DS6 (who has Autism) is celebrating some accomplishments, one of which is finally potty training this year, and it is DS 20 mos first trip!

Well I have my ADRs, I too wasn't able to use the online system and I was worried when I called on 3/24 because I was put on hold for 15 minutes before I got a CM. I had some special requests for DS6(extremely selective eater) so it is probably best that I did call. I had the SWEETEST CM!

Question for everyone:

What are you doing to countdown/pass the time until Sept?

Hello !! I just registered in this forum to post this message!

I'm from Brazil and I will stay 08/30 - 09/13 (free dining)

We went to MNSSHP in 09, and with our kids we felt it wasn't worth it unless we don't do another park that day, or maybe when our boys are older and can stay up later. When we went it was very crowded(especially since it was still Sept) and our little ones were just too worn out. That sounds like a good plan. Did you enjoy it when you went in 09?

Want to know a little more of the backstory? Our nephew's parents (my DH's brother and sister-in-law) ... ALSO met at Disney. :lovestruc I guess Disney kind of runs in our family!

85 pounds is fantastic! Great job! I am also in the process of losing 100+ pounds. Found out I am diabetic a couple of years ago. Have so far lost 80 (had lost 103 but got put on new meds and gained some back - soooo frustrating!). It is taking a while, but so worth it! Keep up the good work, both of you!

How exciting! Happy (very early) Anniversary and Birthday, and congrats on DS6's accomplishments! All that ... AND a first visit for your other DS? Holy moly! You do have a lot to celebrate! ;)

Congrats on getting your ADRs done. So glad to see someone else is eating at Biergarten - that was the one I wasn't sure about LOL Make sure you send in the email to special diets before your trip to re-inforce everything you need for DS6.

Question for everyone:

What are you doing to countdown/pass the time until Sept?

Ummm well ... I spend a LOT of time on here  But I also am getting our itineraries ready, mousekeeping envelopes, making up stuff to decorate our window with ... just in general immersing myself in Disney for the next 5 or so months LOL What about you?

Okay, I took your post in chunks ... the bold is my responses LOL :)

:welcome: to our growing group! Glad to have you aboard.

Yep, we are totally free dining freaks. We did QSDP last year and DH said that we needed to go back to regular DDP for this year, so I convinced him it was time to move up to a moderate.

We did a surprise trip with the kids 2 years ago. Here's our youtube link-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AjaYfZ0cLs
It was fun, but we won't wait near that long this time. I'm slightly holding out hope for free dining between Thanksgiving and Christmas because I'd love to see the Christmas decorations just once. So, we've held off on coming right out and telling the kids. They don't think anything of seeing me on the DIS. I do that all the time-doesn't matter if there is a trip planned or not :)
