November Airfare

currently airfare for November 1st (I cannot book a return date yet) is outrageous compared to what we have paid in the past. Typically we can hit a fare sale and get each was for around $80 a person. It is currently at $143 per person one way. I guess my question is, what are the chances that I can hit another sale?? This is with Southwest.

We plan to be in WDW Nov 1st-4th, I am registered for the Gingerbread 5k with Give Kids the World.

Personally, I think $143.00 each way isn't a bad airfare these days. Who knows if the price will come down? Did you check other airlines?

Gone are the days of tolerable airfare prices I think for awhile. Gas prices are making the ticket prices go up. Our gas price went up to 4.15 a gallon here in MI today. I bit the bullet yesterday and bought round trip tickets for 260.00 per person because they were just not going down (I have been monitoring for 2 months). I knew with the gas price going up, it was only a matter of time before the ticket prices went up too. I spent 186.00 round trip last year. It's a $500.00 price increase for our family of 7 this year. It makes me said to think if it goes even higher next year, we won't be flying anywhere for vacation in 2013.

Two years ago we flew in early November and paid $79 each way. This year we are looking at October and it is $154 each way. I have been checking daily for weeks and things are fluctuating much. I am nervous about it too. Take that times 6 people and it is a huge expense. Really don't want to waste 1 1/2 days driving each way....

I am also hoping for a sale. We fly from Seattle and paid $102 each way last time. Currently it is $242 each way and we are a family of 8. :scared:

Have you tried other airlines? SW is no longer a discount airline. We fly out of BWI and it's generally at least as pricey as every other for where we fly.

Honestly, I'd book at $143/pp. Back on 12/5/11, I booked our trip down to Orlando on AirTran at $87/pp. I was/am thrilled with that price. I waited to book our return flight because they were too high (I thought) at that time. Boy, do I wish I would have booked it then instead of waiting. We are now looking at $158/pp on AirTran. Southwest is $179/pp for almost the exact same time. I'll still be ahead flying AirTran and paying to check our bags. I check both AirTran and Southwest websites several times a day. Neither of the flights I have been watching have gone down in price, not even during a sale. I think with the rising price of fuel costs, airline ticket prices are going to continue to increase. BTW, the flight I booked back in December for $87/pp is now $189/pp. I'm so glad I booked that flight when I did.

We recently had a work meeting where we paid for people to fly in to STL from all over the country. There were no cheap flights. Every flight was at least 30% more and some had doubled. I was thankful to book SWA using points for our upcoming Trip.

You could check fares with Allegiant flying into Sanford or St.Petes Clearwater and then drive over to Orlando. They are booking thru Nov 13th at this time.

We are going down 11/17-11/24 (thanksgiving week). Cheapest flight I found was $450/pp rt.

The 18 hour drive is looking better and better
