Sixt Car Rental in Orlando?

I just reserved a full size car (Ford Taurus, Dodge Charger) for March 3-11 (1 week + 1 day) for $151.45! Looks to be fairly easy - the shuttle info was pretty clear, and only 5 min from the airport. Fingers crossed that all goes well.

Best of luck, I hope you can report your experience when you return.:)

I checked out Sixt and could not believe how much less it is to rent from them vs Enterprise:banana:.

.00 less with Sixt :thumbsup2, But I did not put in a rental, I'm waiting to hear back from the company about if there are any deposit on the rental or do you just pay the quoted price. Hope the price quoted is all I have to pay:woohoo::woohoo:.[/B]

Does anyone have Sixt number at MCO Airport location ??

Dear XX XXXXX,

Thank you for your enquiry. Please be advised that there is a deposit for your hire, which is usually twice the amount of the rental. You are not able to pay cash it must be a credit card. The number for the branch is +1-888-941-7498. Press option one for English, option six to rech the branch.

Thank you for your e-mail.

The map I saw on Sixt's website showed that their site was on Frontage Road, right near Payless (which we have used several times). It is very close to the airport, and should not be a hassle to get there. We have found riding a shuttle to the rental lot is not a big deal, unless you have a big party and lots of luggage.
Haven't used Sixt yet, but my reservation is made. I'm still watching the comments......

Found this place late Saturday night & got a rate of around 90.00 for a Ford Explorer, Feb 20-28th. Didnt book it cause I didnt know much about the place. Today that same rental is over 1000.00. Any idea why it would change so much or if they give their best rates in the late hours of the night.

I noticed the rates were much higher than what people were posting in January on this thread. I put in some of the same exact dates others posted about and got rates 3 and 4 times as much. So maybe it was an introductory special. :confused3

Either way, while my rate is MUCH higher than the $12 per day price I got from priceline a few years ago, I reserved a car because it was still cheaper by $100 than the lowest rate I could find. I'll keep trying to get something lower (still have until early June), but at least I have this one if all else fails. I'll also bid on priceline and see if I can get the price down. Don't know though because rental prices have skyrocketed over the past few years.

Those of you that got the super low rates, congrats! ::woohoo:

We rented from Sixt in Orlando 2/24/12. Time from airport curb to Sixt location 1 hour. Then 1 hour to get our car rented. They are now requiring customers to show proof of their auto insurance, although this wasn't listed when we rented. I called & reconfirmed reservation and wasn't told then either. Others using their debit cards were told there would be a $2000 hold put on their card. We couldn't find anyone to check out the car with us for any previous damages and finally a lady from the office came out and wrote it on a sheet of paper. They only had 3 agents at the counter and at least 15people in line the whole time we were there.

The market spoke?

SiXT had the best rate for a 2/24/12 pickup so we thought we'd give them a try even though they're off-airport. After luggage/shuttle delays we got to the counter about 11:30pm and were just ready to get a car and drive away.

At the end of the transaction they said they would not let us decline their insurance unless we had our Auto Policy number ("since it's a Florida state law"). We've rented in Florida several times a year for the last 25 years and have never had to provide proof of insurance. I'm guessing they just didn't want to honor the rate we had.

So we declined the bullying insurance play and went back to the shuttle bus. Very nice driver, by the way, and he asked us why we were returning to the airport. So we told him we felt like it was kind of a scam operation since we had never had that experience with any of the other car rental companies.

With my trusty smartphone I was able to book an Alamo car via Hotwire before we got back to the airport. The rate was more than the original SiXT quote but less than the price of their rental plus insurance. We went to an Alamo kiosk and the reservation was processed in about 5 minutes (declining insurance easily) and we were on our way to the car rental pickup.

We will not use SiXT again and will rent onsite from now on. It's just SO much more convenient. And we'll have our policy # with us in case this ever happens again.

Just wanted to update with our Sixt experience! The shuttle arrived fairly quickly to the airport, and it was a really short ride there. It took about 30 minutes total to get our car once we got there. The holdup was that there were two couples that had issues with their reservations, so two of the agents were tied up with them. Once I got to a free agent, I gave them my car insurance info, driver's license, and they assigned my car. Very quick! The car was very nice (Toyota Camry) and clean. When we returned the car, we didn't have directions back from them, but put the return address info into my phone, and the directions were pretty clear. Took about 5 minutes total to return the car, and the shuttle bus waited for us. Dropped us off in the right place and we were set to go! Pretty seamless transaction, and as long as the prices stay right, we'll probably rent from them again. They would need to have competitive prices to lure people away from the rental agencies with presence at the airport, but all in all, pretty good!

When you show proof of insurance, can you just bring an insurance card from your own vehicle, or do you have to have the actual policy pages that come with the insurance cards? Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know if SIXT will rent child car seats? I don't see the option on their website, so just curious if anyone saw them at the rental location. Thanks!

I rented from Sixt 2 weeks ago, without any issues. Car was new and clean. I did not have to show any proof of insurance, but was asked if I would like their insurance which I declined, not pressured at all.
I usually rent from Alamo, and enjoy the quick check in using the kiosks, and on site cars, so it did take longer to get the car and be on my way. But saving several hundred dollars made it worth while.
I would definitely use them again.

The cards have generally been enough for me. Sometimes the rental company will call your insurer to verify that their car is covered.

I just took my State Farm insurance card (that I normally keep in my car at home) and it was sufficient.

Would you recommend SIXT for a 70-year old (young-feeling) woman that has arthritis, fused ankle, and not-so-good at lifting heavy things? I will be going on vacation alone Dec 2012 to Orlando (do this quite often). There will be nobody to help me with my 21"carry-on, 25" suitcase, and walker. Normally, I don't have anyone to help but the car rental garage is right across the street. I will be renting a mid-size SUV. I normally rent with National and take a SUV off their lot. So I just get my luggage from the carousel, put it on top of my walker and walk out to the garage. I pick out a car, load the luggage, and away I go.
So do you see any problems with renting from SIXT?

Any other reviews on Sixt?

It seems the bad reviews come from newbies to Dis. :confused3 :confused3

I have a resi with Sixt and Alamo but my Sixt is 1/2 the price of Alamo with the Costco codes. I have no problem taking/showing my insurance info.

Keep the review coming.

It is extremely uncomfortable for me to write down this lines, as I cannot explain how furious I am at this point.
I rented a car from Sixt for the fifth time but now in Mexico City, as always, I prepaid online and charged it to my credit card, and as always, I purchased all protections even when you include a basic insurance, for the first four times I rented, everything was great, great service and enjoyed a lot, but this time, let me tell you that I was treated like dirt, after booking and paying, I called the Mexico offices to find out where is Sixt located at the airport and some other doubts, the lady who answered told me that even with all the insurances bought, tires, mirrors and windows were not covered (what kind of false confirmations you are sending out where you missed to mention that), but at the end I drive carefully and had no further issues with that, she explained to me that I had to go to your counter, then accompany someone to see the car and then accompany somebody else to the counter and then they will hand over the car (at night, sorry but I don´t trust you to drive me around in that city). I booked a GPS, as Mexico City is one of the most dangerous cities in the world and wouldn´t want to get lost and finally when I arrived, located the counter and the person told me that you ran out of GPS (terrible for someone who prepaid) but it seemed not to bother so much the clerk so I asked the clerk to cancel the reservation and refund me my money, he just told me ok, but I needed a proof that you were going to do that, but he didn´t know how to do that so asked me my copy of the reservation and wrote whatever needed to make that. At this point I haven´t received my reimbursment.
