Flying from Buffalo - best time to buy?

Even though I'm Canadian it cost way more to fly from here to Orlando, then drive an hour and save a efw hundred per person. But right now we are still looking at just over 300 per person from Buffalo, in September.
When do you think would be a good time for the prices to come down, or will they?

we will be flying out of buffalo (sept 30)
i plan to book our air (SW) as soon as possible (waiting for the tax return!)
it is more than i had hoped to pay BUT my dates are not flexible and i will only fly
non stop.
i am also afraid that with gas prices going up tickets may keep going up.
i can live with $310
knowing that i am getting the date/flight that i want and that should fares come down i can get a credit for the difference in $$

SW does not offer cash credits when fares drop. They will give you a credit for future travel that must be used before the date of original purchase.

I have been traveling from BUF for years. The fares this year are much higher than in previous years...heck, previous months. They have not had any sales and it doesn't look like fares will drop...so book now.

Hmm I'll have to see how far out Rochester is. For savings I'll go abit further, but I'll have to look into it.
And yes I have been checking DirectAir, but noticed as well no prices up yet.

Hmm it's an extra hour and a few outside of Buffalo. Not sure.

Rochester is only 1hr from Buffalo and lots of Canadians fly out of there as well.

If you are willing to fly with Direct Air wait for a sale. I got our April roundtrip tickets for $59 each way, and our late August for $79 each way. Yes you will have to rent a car in Lakeland or pay for a car service but it was still WAY cheaper for us to fly direct air, pay seat and baggage fees, and rent a car for the whole trip than it was to fly out of Buffalo this time.
They have to be opening soon. Might even be worth a call to them to find out when the schedule will open for September.

ETA) Rochester will be another 1.5- 2 hours from Buffalo. Unfortunately I've always found them slightly more expensive than Buffalo. Of course I haven't looked since our trip last summer.. but it was higher than Airtran out of BUF.

Thanks Pigletto - they have a sale today for 79.99 each way, but it's only up till Sept 6th :P We leave Sept 17th :P I'll keep checking and I'm sure something will come up. I'm sure Direct Air is going to be our option.
Now to see if I can get a discount on a car rental from the places it offers.
We need a rental anyhow cause we are going to Clearwater. Woo hoo there might be a chance to save some good money :D

Be cafeful to check the cost of a rental car from Lakeland BEFORE you buy airfare on Direct. I checked it for my next trip and the rental was over $500....which made the savings only about $150. The flight times weren't that great for us so all in it wasn't worth it.

Also, it's only 1 hour further to Rochester....not any more than that.

We bought tickets for a September trip from ROC, paid less than $100 each way before taxes and fees...direct flight both directions. Gotta love Airtran....I'm gonna squeeze every last bit of goodness out of them before SW puts them on the shelf. I might have to just buy a house in Florida at that point....it will be cheaper.
