Made reservations for my son and his bride 3/22-29, she really wants to ride the monorail, will they be able to ride even though it's not a monorail resort? I sure hope so or I am in trouble!!
Any other tips about this resort I could pass along to them would be greatly appreciated.

absolutely, they can get on the monorail at Epcot or Magic Kingdom or the Ticket and transportation center. If they're using the bus transportation, on a day when they're planning to go to Magic Kingdom, they could take a bus to Epcot and then take the monorail from Epcot to TTC to MK. Nice views too.

I'll second that it's easy to get a monorail ride. We've done it just to get a bit of a sit-down break while at MK. Unless they've stopped it since I've been there, they can even request to ride up front.

Riverside tips... I stayed there on my last trip. It's a big resort. Lots of walking to my room. But there's lots of beautiful walks that, of course, we never had time to enjoy being the park hoppers that we are. :lmao:

The boat to Downtown Disney is a fun little trip.

There's a whole website somewhere dedicated to POR. Can't remember the URL, but I'm sure it's an easy find.

Riding with the pilot was discontinued a couple of years ago.

I love, love, love POR!!! It was my first Disney resort, back when it was Dixie Landings!!! It is so beautiful there...I loved just walking around the resort. Anyway.....there is the boat to DTD. Very pleasant ride. Not quick, but pleasant.
The monorail is currently having it's hours curtailed due to construction at the GF. So, the resort/express monorail is not running to and from the MK/TTC from the hours of 11:30am to 6pm each day. Not sure how long that will last.
BUT...they can get on the monorail at Epcot!!! Take the bus to Epcot and then hop onboard. It will go to the TTC. You can stay on and then ride back to Epcot...when it returns to Epcot, it actually runs through Epcot itself!!! Really fun to do.
Or, they can take the ferry over to the TTC from MK, and get on the Epcot line that way...ride to Epcot, and then back to the TTC again. Or, get off at Epcot, tour Epcot for a bit, and then head back to TTC or take the bus to POR.

Anyone can ride the monorail....you don't even have to be staying at a WDW resort....much less a resort along the monorail itself.
Hope they have a ball.

As far as POR, normally on Wednesday through Saturday evenings Bob Jackson (Yeehaa Bob) entertains. He's lots of fun and manages to get the folks up to sing and parade around the lounge ("Don't Worry, you'll never see these folks again"). It is a nice place to stop for a couple of hours in the evening and is appropriate for adults & kids. Bob's web site is www.yehaabob.com.

I second going to Bob's show. We found him during our honeymoon in 1998 & stop in every trip. If they want to observe but not be in the middle just hang back at the sofa/chairs at the back of the lounge (it's what we do)
