We will be traveling down to Disney the last week in April. We will be coming in late and then going to our Disney resort in the morning. I need a recommendation of a hotel close by. I'm really not interested in amenities, just a bed free of bedbugs and sketchy folks :) Thanks in advance!!

We're interested in this as well. We are at Pop 8/19-29. At present, airfare is significantly less if we fly in on the 18th. Looking for something for the one night. Will have a car rented, so anything within 10-15 mins is great. Days Inn, Red Roof, etc will do. Priceline is also an option, so interested in any deals someone may have gotten through them. Thoughts?

I thought about priceline too but you can get burned by the "extra" charges. I once got a great hotel for 45.00, but had to pay 14.00 for parking:eek: I'm really afraid about parking charges or resort fees(which priceline says can be as much as 40/night) in Orlando. Took a look at the vista, that might be a good option for us.

unless you are getting a rental car - then might suggest one of the airport hotels - they will take you to there hotel and back again - so think you can still use the disney magical express to get to WDW.

otherwise might go with another night at Pop or all stars if they are cheaper.

disney will move your luggage the next morning if you are staying at a WDW resort - it does not matter which.

you can check in at any WDW resort at 6:30 am.

Take a look at the Holiday Inn Resort at Lake Buena Vista (NOT the DTD one) - it's just outside DTD - :thumbsup2 It's close and the rates are pretty good - if you use the code through allears you can get the room for about 70.00 - but I think there's a daily service fee of 11.00 or so - :flower3:

Spiceycat, I wish that were an option but there are five of us and that knocks out the cheaper on property options. We will be driving down, so the car isn't a problem :)

When we drove down, we ended up arriving at 1:30am (had planned on stopping along the drive down, but once the kids fell asleep we just kept on driving). We called a couple hours out, and got the Doubletree Guest Suites for that first night. It's a Downtown Disney area hotel, so close by, and has a nice amount of room for 5 (two beds plus sofa sleeper in the other room) and is a real suite. They frequently have good prices.

Or you can check out the other Downtown Disney hotels for specials also. I think you're pretty safe there - the Doubletree wasn't fancy but it worked for the night!

If your just looking for a place for to rest your heads . We have always stayed at the Clarion Inn lake buena vista before heading to the POP . Its nothing fancy but works for a night. I use Bookit.com and get a rate of $49 or use a coupon out of one of those books for $47 a night

It's my impression that fewer hotels in the Lake Buena Vista area have parking fees and resort fees than in the Maingate/192 area. With that in mind, I used Priceline to get a 3-star LBV hotel for two midweek nights during the week before Christmas 2010. I got the Fairfield Inn in Marriott Village for $35/night plus a total of around $15 in taxes and Priceline fees. The room was clean and well-appointed, with a newer and firmer mattress than at the pricier Residence Inn in Fort Myers (where we also stayed that week). The breakfast bar had lots of choices including a hot egg dish. Marriott Village is gated and slightly off the SR 535 strip - no sketchy people, no timeshare hawkers on the sidewalk. I'd do it again if I wanted to stay offsite.

We stayed at this Fairfield about two years ago and it was perfect. It was clean, close to Disney property, and pretty nice for what we paid for it (about the same rate).

You can get this hotel often on either bookit or on Travelzoo....usually $49. It's a nice clean and newly renovated property. It gets good reviews here on the Dis and also on other sites.

We stayed there for 1 night in February. I booked it through Bookit.com for $49...though I have seen it as low as $25 on occasion through Bookit. It was clean and decent, but make sure and request to be on the parking lot side. It is very noisy on the interstate side! It is located just down the street from Downtown Disney :)

We like the Fairfield in the Marriott Village also. It is just across from DTD and does not have a parking/resort fee. :thumbsup2

We staryed at the Caribe last year before we checked into POR. It was clean and had the most comfortable beds. It is also less than a mile from Disney, and I got a mousesaver rate.

I have always used the Clarion Inn on Palm Parkway when I need a close one night stay. I have never paid more than $60 a night no matter what time of year and it is owned by the Rosens who are the largest hotel owners in Orlando.

This hotel is always clean and it is about a mile outside DTD.

Good luck!
