HELP Direct Air Sales?

 I finally talked my SIL into taking my 2 nephews to WDW this August with us. Money is super tight for her, and I found great deals on Direct Air out of Kzoo. I was planning on booking today, and the prices are up over $50 a ticket each way :scared1:! I'm afraid she won't be able to go, as that adds $300 to her trip. Ugh. I'm kicking myself for not buying the tickets last night. Long story short, does anyone know how often Direct Air has sales? Or what are the chances I'll be able to find tickets under $160 RT for August? We live in mid-Michigan so driving to pretty much any airport in MI is fine with us. HELP!

Do not pay full price. They are always having sales. Right now they are introducing Way2Go Club, for a $49 yearly membership fee you can book any available flight for $179. The add says no blackout dates.

Thanks! I'm hoping they run another sale soon. This tix I missed out on were $139 RT! Does anyone know if Direct Air charges a fee for picking your seats (like Spirit)?

Yes, from their site: "$15 Advanced seat selection per person each direction of travel"

They also add on a $15 "convenience fee" per person for each direction of travel for booking online. $20 for booking via phone. No convenience fee if tickets are purchased at the ticket counter at the airport.

HTH's!

My convenience fee wasn't added on top of the flight price .. it was built in to what I was quoted. But yes there were seat fees.

Huh.....I was trying to book one of the $79 fares the other day, and this is what I read on their site. I wonder if it's new?

Fares do not include a Convenience Fee of $15.00 per person each way. For reservations made by calling 877-432-DIRECT, a $10.00 per person Reservations Department Fee will apply. Bookings made at a Direct Air ticket counter location will not be assessed the Convenience Fee or the Reservations Department fee. Reservations made by calling (877) 432-DIRECT, will cost an additional $20.00 per person each way, reflecting the Convenience Fee

Is it just me or is this really confusing. Is it 15 or is it 20 when you call?:confused3

I made mine online, and now I'm even more confused.
A. Because that statement you posted says nothing about the fee if you book online.
and
B.) because I just checked my receipt. The fee is on there.. but when you add up all the itemized fees up the grand total for the four of us comes to 872.
However.. we were only charged 812.. and that is exactly 872, minus the four 15 dollar convenience charges:confused3

So basically it's itemized on the bill, but we weren't charged for it.
Finding this curious I went back to the invoice for the online reservation I made in October for our upcoming April trip. Again, the fee is noted on the statement for each passenger, but the grand total is 60 dollars less than it should be if we were charged the fee!

So, from what I can guess, it's showing up on the receipt but you aren't actually charged it when you book online. OR, maybe it's waived for the sales? I booked one set of flights during a $59 sale, and the next set during the $79 sale.

Curiouser and curiouser!:rotfl:

When we booked ours, we got the Family Fare deal and it included all fees. I know they don't have that promotion any more, but there could be others.

It could be difficult to book at the counter in Kalamazoo since they have so few flights and see to rarely staff the counter.

I've been doing the family ties "membership" program :grouphug: and all the fees except baggage are/were included in the fare price for our upcoming 4/14/12 trip.
Our total price was $169 p/p, $507 total for the 3 of us.
Their new sales pitch, Way2go $179 any seat any time, requires a separate membership fee $49 now $69 after March 11th. pirate:
It's been impossible to get in touch with their service agents or an e-mail reply. :surfweb:
I hope I'm wrong but it looks like September 2012 is their last month of service. :sad1:
good luck all,
joe
