rental car that seats 6?

Staying at AKV this November. I would like to rent a car to make it easier to get around. I would like a car big enough to fit 6. I know I could rent a van but they are expensive and I don't need the room for luggage. Has anyone rented a car with a bench seat in the front that fits a sixth person with a seatbelt?

We had six, and we rented a minivan from National. It was $400 for 11 days. Loved it! You just have to keep checking for deals. They do come along!

Not many of those cars left out there, unfortunately. Ford recently ended production on the Crown Vic, some of which won't have a bench anyway. I believe such cars fall under the "premium" category, which probably isn't much cheaper than a minivan. A "full-size" rental will get you what is actually a mid-size car (like a 4-cylinder Camry, for example).

Even with a fullsize like an impala with 5 people you have 3 in the back. You need a minivan. Book with Budget for now using BCD x474200 (travelocity code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off. Total for 1 week in Nov from Nov 10 -17 for example is $272.84 inc taxes after $30 coupon is applied when return vehicle. As you get closer to your dates you can look for a lower rate.

Thanks everyone! I will look for deals and coupons. When I priced minvans they were over $500 for 7 days which I think is too expensive! If I can't find a good deal I will just use Disney transportation.

True, but again those are typically bucket seats up front. And there's no guarantee of what kind of car you'll get when you reserve it. When I traveled into Mexico, I used to specify "no Toyotas" because the speed bumps down there are HUGE and the Toyotas sat lower than the Fords & Chryslers. Corollas would drag in the middle & Camrys banged the muffler How many times do you think they still had a Toyota waiting for me? Yup, pretty much every time


I once reserved a full-size van & when I showed up to get it, the gal behind the counter said, "Oh, we don't have full-size vans at this location, so we have a minivan for you instead. That'll be fine, right?". Ugghh

The Crown Victoria stopped productiong mid last year and most of the last model year were sold as fleet cars with many heading to export. Very, very few of these exist in the fleets and would be pointless to book a Premium with a small glimmer of hope to get one. Better to book a minivan.

I just got a Premium for this week, Crown vic or Buick Lucerne, The same cost as the Full size, Impala at $17 a day, with fees came to $197 on Hotwire. I watched the rates for about 2 weeks before booking 2 weeks ago.

Mini vans were just too costly, but needed room to transport luggage, walker, stroller, and us to the airport on early flight.

I will post Tuesday let you know we get. It is through Alamo.

Just so you won't be disappointed, I wouldn't count on either a Crown Victoria or Buick Lucerne because there are many other vehicles in the Premium category, including Nissan Maxima, Toyota Avalon and if I recall Alamo considers the Ford Taurus a Premium as well.

Yes, typically if you read the fine print it will say, "Or similar". Best way is to speak to someone at the counter at your exact rental location to see what's actually in their local fleet.

We used to have a problem with Budget in Harlingen, TX. They had actually created a class of car all to their own that didn't exist in other locations.

right you are, but, I have seen a bunch of Crown Vics lately.
