I'm so disappointed.. I wanted to get my daughter a Disney bathing suit for our trip since we're going to Blizzard Beach this time. I searched disneystore.com and they have NO girls bathing suits in size 12! I even searched Ebay and the only thing they have is a Tinkerbell one & my daughter isn't really into Tinkerbell. I'm shocked that Disney doesn't make girls size 12 bathing suits!! Am I missing something? This seems a bit crazy to me! :confused3

Check at Walmart as I think they had some last year. Last year the bathing suits didn't come in size 10 which stunk as I liked their suits. My youngest needs a 12 this summer as well but we will probably end up back with a gymboree suit as they held up really good.

I don't know what size your daughter is, but beware that the Disneystore.com bathing suits run SMALL and are cut for a very narrow framed child.

We have lots of them b/c my family lives in a town where they had a Disney Distribution Center and store. They could get the Disneystore bathing suits for $5, so my sister-in-law would go and get one of every suit for my daughter. The 2 pieces are better than the 1 pieces, but we had to give several away b/c they were too narrow for for my average built daughter, and we always needed at least 1 size larger than we bought in any other swimsuit.

I hear ya! Disney misses the boat on certain sizes, and size 12 is one of them. They seem to be saying that kids who wear size 12 wouldn't be interested in characters, yet what they fail to realize is that tall, long torsoed or larger children could wear size 12 at ages 7 or 8, and that is a prime market for Disney characters! That whole size range is totally lost, as they pretty much stop at size 10, and Ladies or Men's XS is still too large as they are made for adult bodies. It is very frustrating!

My very long torsoed 8 year old wears size 12, and I had to stop buying Disney bathing suits a couple of years ago, as the 10s were not a good fit. Adult Disney bathing suits are made larger, but kids are a smaller cut, as mentioned above.

We scored a size 12 Minnie Mouse dress at a Disney outlet in Ohio the other day, and my DD is thrilled, as she is going to wear it on our Disney cruise in the summer. But besides that, they don't really do size 12, and Ladies XS is still a bit too large for her.

She used to wear exclusively Gymboree, but they too have shrunk sizes, and last year's size 12, was smaller than the previous year's size 10, so we promptly returned that! We have been having great luck with Old Navy, as they go to size 16 with some clothes, as well has have half/plus sizes.

Costco also sells Speedo bathing suits, and I think they go to size 14?

Good luck, Tiger

Our Walmart isn't selling bathing suits yet. Hopefully they will be out before our trip. I'll check there. Thanks!

Yeah, my daughter is 10 and still loves the characters, too! She's even small for her age and just grew into size 12. I really wanted to get her a character bathing suit since we'll be at Blizzard Beach & we're at Disney. I know she'd love that so much. I just can't even believe Disney doesn't have size 12 bathing suits, it just seems so crazy! I mean, they're still kids after all!! Also, like you said, a lot of even younger kids wear size 12! I know most of my daughters friends are into size 14 or higher at 10 yrs old.

It's like even Disney is trying to get kids to grow up faster. As if we don't have enough of that in society already!! I mean first we're paying ADULT prices at Disney World for a 10 year old, and now they don't even make their character bathing suits in a size 12? These are STILL CHILDREN! Ugh... I wanna scream it from the rooftops!

Thanks to everyone who responded!

Yup, my very astute 8 year old said the very same thing! Thank goodness for Old Navy, as we buy every Disney character t-shirt they have (and they have lots for short and long sleeved) as they have size 14!

I wish you luck in your shopping quest!

Isn't 12 a girl's large? Because they have a bunch.

The 10 I think is supposed to fit 10/12

None of the bathing suits in the link you provided are in size 12. I clicked on all of them, and they all stop at size 10.

As mentioned, I haven't ever seen size 12 bathing suits at Disney. They do have a few dressses and sweaters here and there, as I mentioned above, but no bathing suits or cover ups in that size.

my DD8 is just into a size 10 and wouldn't wear a character bathing suit if I paid her. most of her friends are the same. they stopped wearing character clothing for the most part once they got into grade school. based on that, I can see why Disney markets the way they do. most of the bigger sizes at our Disney store just don't sell.

What age are you talking about for starting grade school? Here we start junior kindergarten at age 3 (must be 4 by end of Dec.).

It's really sad to me that so many kids don't seem to act like kids anymore...but I'm sure that is why Disney doesn't make that size.

I'm sure it's hard for Disney to compete with the many tacky and not age appropriate clothes that appeal to little girls these days. :sad2:

here K is early childhood and they move to lower school in 1st grade. I can assure you my DD is not wearing "tacky and age inappropriate" clothing. she just oe sent care for anything with a character on it. that doesn't mean she isn't acting like a kid, jut that she is growing up a bit. I find it age appropriate at 7-8 to it longer want to wear character shirts or swimsuits. that doesn't mean they are dressing like teens, just that they no longer want to look like preschoolers. I think that is fine. I don't see anything wrong with a plain tee with jeans rather than a princess one or a strep our polka dot swimsuit rather than Minnie mouse?

I think with kids growing up so fast we and Disney should embrace the fact that there are still girls at size 12 that love the Princesses, Minnie, and Tinkerbell. I really wanted to get my daughter a Disney swimsuit for our trip this August, as she LOVED the Rapunzel swimsuit but she can't wear a size 10. I have noticed a lot of brands and I'm disappointed to see that Disney is one of them marketing only to the skinny girls. My girl is not the skinniest but she can't wear a lot of clothes she likes and it's disappointing that Disney does it too!! We love our Disney come on Disney Store!!!

I didn't mean to imply that your daughter was wearing tacky or inappropriate clothes, but much of what I see at the mall that many little girls are drawn to, fits into this category. Disney can't compete with that, since as you said, if little girls of 6 aren't wearing characters, than most girls age 10 or 12 probably aren't going to either.

No one is saying that your daughter has to wear a princess shirt, but to imply that a child who does is a acting like a preschooler and isn't as grown up as your daughter is rather insulting.

I find it rather funny that you think if you wear a princess or Mickey shirt that you are dressing like a preschooler. Seriously? You or your daughter don't like character shirts, then don't wear them. But to imply that children who do, aren't as grown up or mature as your daughter, is really rather ridiculous.

I think it's attitudes like these that contribute to the fast growing kids we see before us today, and this is exactly why Disney doesn't sell princess or Minnie bathing suits in size 12.

It really is sad...Tiger

Very well said, Tiger. I agree with every point you've made! It's so sad that kids can't be kids for very long anymore.

I even wear character shirts, and I just turned 35 years old! ;)

I know kids here still wear character clothing through grade school and even in Middle School and High school. Disney is nuts for not continuing clothing in the sizes for all kids.

In the states grade school generally starts at 5.

I am with you on being saddened that kids don't act like kids. Seeing how some of the girls in my 3rd grader's class act is scary. They are trying to be all grown up way too soon.

Great post and I couldn't agree more. My 13 year old wears shirts with Cookie Monster on them as well as some with Tinkerbell. She is far from a preschooler and so not the only one wearing them.

The PP's response is the reason my youngest didn't want to wear certain shirts last year until she realized that the ones making the comments were the ones trying to act like teens and thinking they were all grown. I let her decide what to wear and she decided that she likes her character Tshirts and sweatshirts and no one could make her feel bad. Funny how this year some of those same bratty girls are wearing Tinkerbell shirts. :rolleyes1

I am 41 and still love my character shirts. Just yesterday I wore my Disney Character shirt from WDW. :rotfl:

I am not implying anything, just pointing out how my DD and her friends view it. They think they are too old to wear characters and I don't see anything wrong with that view. it doesn't mean that I think that a child that thinks differently is any less grown up. your reply seemed to imply that any child choosing not to wear characters at that age is growing up too fast and must be wearing things that are age inappropriate. I don't think that one necessairly goes with the other, and I dont see why both choices, characters or not, cannot be acceptable and age appropriate.

not what I was trying to say at all and my DD would NEVER get away with acting like that towards another chld, ever. she makes decisions for herself, but is taught to respect the decisions of others as well. that is all I am asking for. why can't it be ok for a little girl to choose NOT to wear a character without it being assumed that she is growing up too fast and a mean girl???
as for the middle schooler, I teach high school, and apparently it becomes "cool" to wear characters agian once middle school does around. I cannot begin to explain the whys:confused3

The Disneystore used to carry characters suits in size 12. (Just like they used to carry the PJ pals in a 12:cutie:). A few years ago I bought dd character suits in every size they had at the DS and one of them is a 12. I wish I had bought more. DD loves wearing character clothes, but then again she has always had her own mind and is not one to follow a crowd LOL. She likes what she likes!

There's a Disney outlet about 15 minutes from where I live. Last fall the outlet was full of clothes and bathing suits in size 12. The CMs at the outlet told me that they get the leftovers from the regular stores, so I'm guessing size 12 is not a big enough seller for the Disney Stores to continue making them. I don't think it has anything to do with Disney not caring if kids grow up to fast and I don't really understand how that conclusion was drawn. Rather, I'm sure the lack of size 12 has more to do with sales and money.

My daughter is 7 and has always worn character suits, but this year she's on the fence with the character clothes. She's moving out of princesses, which I think is just a natural progression for her age. I don't think she is growing up too fast at all, nor do I think she is being pushed out of being a little girl. Her interests are just changing. She still likes Tinker Bell and will always have a soft spot for the princesses, but she's just not interested in wearing them on her clothes anymore. She prefers the girl power or friend t-shirts that we've found at Justice. I really don't understand how not wanting to wear Disney character clothing equates to kids growing up too fast. :confused3
