Cold temperatures have caused some damage to the monorail beam between the Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom. The monorails have to reduce speed over this section of beam and this is causing delays.

Yikes! Anyone there now that can comment on this?

And to PrincessdisnyGina - it was refreshing to see someone not 100% loving their room who made ther best of it! :thumbsup2

princessdisnygina - Thanks for sharing your quick trip report and photos!

I started packing this weekend - over 2 weeks in advance is earlier than I have ever packed. But I'll be in NY for work starting tomorrow for 6 days, then only about 48 hours at home before we get on a plane to Florida! I'll probably overpack on clothing, but as long as it all fits in the suitcases, we'll be good. I was feeling really ahead of the game...until today. Packing for the work trip is stressing me out - so obviously I'm taking a break here on the DIS. :laughing:

ONLY 2 Weeks? You are WAY behind!! :lmao: (not even being sarcastic, I've got 6 months until the family trip, 3 until my solo trip and I'm already packing!)

Happy Valentines Day everyone!! :lovestruc

Has anyone been to the Poly in early May? If so, tips on the weather would be appreciated.

LOVE MAY TEMPS! My first time at the Poly was a land/sea vacation that spanned over Mother's Day. Warm enough to swim and enjoy the weather but not so hot you were sweating after 2 minutes outside. Not a lot of rain and just fabulous. LOVE MAY at Disney and wish I could go all the time. But with the kids getting older, it makes a difference if they miss too much school now. So enjoy MAY!!!!

Did you try requesting a different room at check-in? I'm curious if they attempted to accommodate you and couldn't?

Thanks for your report!

Hello Poly Lovers :) I booked my airfare last night, and in doing so, I ended up needing to book a day earlier to get the flight sale, so Another Disney Day for us :cool1:

Unfortunately, I am now homeless for my arrival night....I am anxiously awaiting some "hopeful" spring/ summer discount codes that might help make a room at the POLY affordable for us for our arrival night.....We are staying at the BWI CL, for Sept 28-Oct 4, but to add on another night in our current Deluxe room, was going to be $950.00 :scared1: :scared1: definitely VETOED that!!!! :eek:

I am hoping that maybe we will be able to get even a standard GV room at the POLY for around the $300 mark or better, then I will be able to experience at least ONE night at this beautiful resort! and try the pool, and watch wishes from the pool, and dine at Captain Cookes -- adult grilled cheese! mmmmm -- before our package kicks in on the 29th of Sept.....

Fingers crossed an affordable option opens up for us!
I'd love a night of POLY Paradise! :lovestruc

PRINCSSDISNYGINA!!!!

Love early May, we've been twice. Can't anymore due to travel baseball. Very warm to just a tad hot, it depends. But very manageable, only midday gets really toasty - perfect time for a pool break. Both May trips - not a drop of rain!

We always go to WDW in early May, although this year will be our first Poly stay. You can get the occasional afternoon thunderstorm in May. This happened once each week when we were there in May the last two years. They were huge thunderstorms, so severe that we had to pull over on the highway and wait it out. They don't last long, though, and it's not everyday like in the summer. The rest of the week was beautiful, not a cloud in the sky. Temps most days were high 80's to low 90's.

Awesome news about May!!:cloud9:

We are paying off our trip today!!!! SO EXCITING!!! :banana::banana::banana:

It puts me in a much better mood than I was in yesterday. My DH ordered some flowers to be delivered to me at work through Teleflora...THEY NEVER SHOWED! The customer service number just hangs up on you and it feels like we have just been ripped off :confused3

Guess that's $150 we will never see again. What a waste. Its the thought that counts though. I am a lucky girl! :lovestruc

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

It is becoming so real, which is awesome because I have been thinking about this trip for over a year!!!!

my DD(37) has a business trip to Tampa in June and just booked three nights to follow that at the Poly.

Now why wouldn't she pack me in a suitcase? Sniff, sniff, sniff!!! Puppy dog eyes didn't even get her attention. Well I will just have to wait for our Family trip in 2013.

Buying DD's "I'm Going to the Disney World Resort" shirt tomorrow. Disney Store is having their anniversary sale. :goodvibes Now, I am just trying to figure out how to announce the trip. Any ideas on how to suprise a 4 year old?!

Think I will pick up a Cinderella Tutu as well. They are so cute! princess:

Awwwwwhhh :laughing:

For my four year old grandson my daughter just put in the presentation DVD and handed him the maps she ordered and it didn't take him long to figure it out. He still did not really get it until we walked under the train at MK and he saw the castle and he shouted. "We are really HERE!"

Just wanted to say that in exactly five months we will be at the Poly! Yay! I know it's still five months away but you have to get excited about something right?

Kids!!! You change there diapers, send them to college and cant even include mom on a disney trip. :confused3
You will have to forget your wallet on your next trip in 2013. "Sorry, crazy, forgetfull mom forgot her wallet".:thumbsup2
:lmao::lmao:

Do the POLY rooms ever come down into the $300 range or better for 1 night? I would love to stay at the POLY for our arrival night before my package at BWI CL kicks in on Sept 29..... The prices seem so high and I am having a hard time justifying $495 plus tax for 1 day! I have thought about AOA as well, but I think this would be a great opportunity to try out the POLY without a huge commitment, and if I love it, then it might be a great choice for my future anniversary trip. Being as I only need a room for one night, I hope some discount or better pricing might be obtainable :)

Well, for the date you need with 40% off you'd be at $297+tax, but that's a best case scenario.

Good luck. The Poly is spectacular :love:
