Fantasy Dinning

Will 2 teenage boys think the dinning rooms on fantasy (or Dream since Fantasy is not out yet)? We feel that they will think its to "prissy" and "girly". Especually the garden room (forgot the real name)

I hope they dont but just want to be sure

Well, if they're like most teenage boys they are probably more concerned about the food than the ambiance of the restaurant, lol.

We have only been on the classic ships, but neither my teenage son nor my husband said anything about the new restaurant(s) looking "girly" when I showed them the pictures, although they didn't seem quite as impressed as me.

I really wouldn't worry about it, it's a Disney cruise. The restaurant decor probably won't be a major factor for your teens.

If they don't want to eat in the restaurants because they don't like the way the restaurants look, there's loads of other places they can eat.

there is always a prince or some other male figure in the Disney themes. Somebody should be with the young maiden in the Enchanted Garden. Might as well be a teenage guy!

Well if they do you could always say that literally thousands and thousands of other teenage boys ate there and made it out alive...lol!!! It's dinner....I am sure they would be more interested in the food than decor. It is not like they would be judged by their peers for eating in a fancy dining room....

Sorry, but if that is their biggest concern in life...they must have a pretty good situation! I think they'll survive, and if not, they can eat at Pluto's.

We were on the Dream last July. DS was 16 at the time and he didn't say anything about the dining room decor. The food on the other hand - he had lots to say, when his mouth wasn't full. He loved it. Trying new foods, being able to order without anybody telling him "isn't that enough?" Then with more freedon on the ship, he probably snuck off for many other things to try. At least from his noting how good such and such was, and did you know you could get . . . at this place, or at this time they put out food over by the . . .
How the heck he doesn't look like a ship is beyond me. And, at 6' 189 pounds, he wants to add a few so that he can be better on the football line. Oh to be young again.

Teenage boy - very visceral. Mostly mouth and stomach, and raging hormones. Keep their attention on the food, there are bikinis on board. Many other distractions than the decor. Good Luck. And enjoy. I'm already dreading next year when we send ours off to college.

My two teenage sons aren't upset with the decor, they are fuming mad about dressing up. They didn't mind it when they went to their semi-formal at their high school, but they are not happy about the formal night, or wearing polo's and khakis for that matter!

My DS16 didn't say a word about the dining room decor on the Dream. He was all about the food.

No one will force you to go to formal night. It's not a prison ship.

My kids could handle that. They would do formal night but they would definitly do something different. maybe we can go to cabanas or room service...

If you choose to skip formal night, then skip it. Eat in the buffet or order room service. Although, it's a great time to have family portraits taken. That's what we did on our last cruise.

I've got a teenage son, too and he might think an Enchanted Garden was a bit prissy but he really wouldn't care so much as long as they were feeding him!

We really like going to the main dining rooms, but we don't like to dress up. I may be in the minority here, but we wear the same type of outfits (pants/nice top) on formal night that we wear on cruise casual nights. No one ever looks at us weird and we don't get kicked out. And we are still more dressed up than some of the crowd. I say as long as you don't wear shorts, jeans, tank tops or t-shirts; nobody is going to care.

We were on the Dream last May and my boys were 5, 7, and 11 at the time. We ate at the Enchanted Garden for lunch the day we boarded, no complaint. Dinner was at Animator's Palate the first night. They loved it. Second night was dinner in the Enchanted Garden and they didn't like it, and neither did we. The next night we were supposed to go to EG again, but instead went to Cabanas. This was much more casual, and had a great view of Nassau since we were still in port. The next night was supposed to be the Royal Palace, but DH and I ate at Palo so we had lunch here instead. It was beautiful and I would have loved dinner there, but the boys again didn't care for it much. I think the "fanciness" makes them uncomfortable. They would have been happy just eating at the fast food places by the pool for every meal. On the next cruise (Fantasy, October) I may just let them!

For those who don't want to dress up , no need to skip the main dining room or eat at Cabanas if you don't want to. It says right on the navigator, formal attire is optional. We choose to dress up but lots of families do not so it's not like you would feel out of place.
