Rental car headache!! HELP!!

ok I have seen people renting cars for little of nothing. I am flying in the day before a cruise and was going to rent a car but everyone wants to charge an $80 one way fee. I was also going to rent a car for the trip back to the airport after the cruise so it doesnt really make since to me to pay to rent a car if I am going to have to pay one way fees on each side. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure if you use Budget they won't charge you a fee. There is one onsite at MCO and one nearby Port Canaveral (with a shuttle).

I second this. We've used Budget and they were great. Shouldn't be more than $55 each way, or less.

I see people talk about $25 or $30 fares too, but all I can find from one of the agencies with a shuttle is $70 to $80 for our cruise. I'm pretty good at using codes and getting rental car discounts too. I think it all just depends on your timing.

What are your dates and what kind of car do you need? Are you using any discount codes?

if you go to www.mousesavers.com you will find lots of codes. We've used national and never paid a one way fee.

our cruise is May 12 2012 we wanted to get a car for the day before when our flight arrives until time to go to the ship and we want one after our flight out at 6 pm. Just about any car would work for us it is myself DW DD6 DS2 and 4 small bags.

I just quickly punched in a pick up on May 11 at MCO with a drop off on May 12 at PC. I used BCD code Y937800 and it pulled up an Economy or Compact for $53.23 with tax.
Are you planning to stay at WDW the night before? If so, a rental pick up from the Doubletree location near DTD gives me a rate of $38.52 for an Economy.

But like PP says, you can find other discount codes on Mousesavers too.

Hi Corey:
The number for Avis (located at the airport, no shuttle necessary) is B389700. For picking up at MCO and dropping off at Avis in Cape Canaveral is $40. The return trip, I'm guessing is May 17th, is a little more at $47. (You have to pay more during normal work week unfortunately because they like to mess with us business travelers.) I'm always curious what the best deal is. Who did you go with, Avis or Budget? I am a die hard Avis fan for the past 16 years. But always willing to change for a better deal.

Oh also, bring your own car seats. It will cost more than they are worth to rent them. I know Avis will store them for you at the port without charging. I don't know about the other companies.

I have been putting in codes for weeks trying to get a decent price on a 12-14 pax van for our post cruise stay at WDW (We will be picking up near the port and dropping off 4 days later at MCO).

Every quote was between $650-$800.....put in the code above S208200 and it brought it down to under $400....then I put in the Disboard code of Y937800 and it brought it down another $8.00....I am very happy...we are splitting cost with another family. This was for Budget.

I will also keep checking as prices change all the time!!!

If you really need more room than that and you have 2 adults, why not rent 2 of them?

We have 10 people so even with 2 minivans we will have luggage space issues plus the other family didn't want to drive. I will keep looking though!!! My rental is for 4 days. cc5 to MCO (with WDW in between).

The only trick I know is to check all the codes at rentalcodes.com and mousesavers.com. Sometimes you have to join a hotel loyalty program for a code to be valid (I've never been asked to show a card though). It is a pain, but it can save a lot of money.

Only the non-Disers pay retail.

Budget code X474200 can be really helpful. I'm looking at a minivan for Nov 8-10. Without code was $188. With code $90 for the 2 days.
