Just heard this from my travel agent:

If you can sail on March 4th or the 22nd for 5 Nights to the Bahamas... have we got a deal for you!!! There are Oceanview Staterooms with verandahs on the Disney Dream for $1000 less than the usual price and $300 less than ocean view staterooms and $200 less than inside staterooms. This is one of those book now rates - There IS some fine print that you'll need to know....please get with me ASAP for your FREE quote but be ready to move quickly....because they WILL be gone soon. Fares must be paid in full at time of booking.

I am so bummed because we paid way more for our cruise, which is also leaving 3/4 - but we're on the Magic. Doh!

(I have no idea if this is travel agent specific but am happy to pass along her info if you want to check it out).

These are VGT rates...not at all TA specific. There is a lot of fine print, but if it fits your schedule it's a good value.

good to kow that you can still get great last minute rates....

See below for what IGT, OGT and VGT MEANS....Last-Minute Restricted Stateroom Discounts from DCL

In January 2011, Disney will begin offering a new way to save if you are flexible about your stateroom location and willing to book "last minute," meaning 21-75 days prior to departure.

When offered, new "Restricted" room categories be offered on select sailings at the discretion of Disney Cruise Line operations. If offered, here’s what you will see online:

Inside Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY IGT)

Oceanview Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY OGT)

Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY VGT)

These categories may provide a great rate if you are flexible with your stateroom location, but as the name suggests, they are heavily restricted, with a lot of rules.

Important details you need to know:

You will not be able to select a stateroom number or make special requests as to stateroom location. The stateroom is assigned at the discretion of Disney Cruise Line within a week of cruise departure. The only guarantee will be Inside, Outside or Verandah (based on the bookable category code listed).

Applies to new bookings only. Existing reservations cannot be modified to these new categories.

Full payment is due at time of booking. Booking holds are not permitted.

Reservation is non-refundable.

Reservation and applied payment are non-transferable.

Full legal names and birthdates for all stateroom occupants are required at time of booking.

Name changes after the reservation number is confirmed will not be permitted.

Sail date, stateroom category and cruise itinerary changes are not permitted once a reservation number is confirmed.

Not combinable with any discount or promotional offers, with the exception of $25 onboard credit for bookings made online and Disney Visa benefits.

The “Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions” category allows for a maximum of four stateroom occupants.

Restrictions and booking rules are subject to change.

There were/are FL resident discounts available for these sailings too, which are better than the guarantee rates. I thought I saw the discounts were available through 2/12/12, but they seemed to still show up this morning. Use the code FLR when doing your search.

So..been curious about this.
We're on this sailing.
Up to and after the payment due date there was little or no availability showing on the disneycruise website for this cruise. Now there are many rooms showing available, especially in the verandah category, hence the deals being offered.

Have people been cancelling? After recent tragic event? Or do they know something I don't?! :) Just curious :goodvibes

Not worried about missing out on this deal though. We booked so long ago we got a good price.:)

Lots of people cancel as final payment comes. When that date passes, DCL (or really any cruise line) has to determine what the availability is and how likely the cruise is to sell out. If they think they will have difficulty selling the ship, then many cruise lines have deals (like the GT cabins on DCL or Pack'n'Go rates on Carnival).

Not worried about missing out

There was an article posted last week about DCL's sales being slow due to the Concordia tragedy.

On the VGT/OGT/IGT rates, I know that you have no control over the cabin, deck etc, and it cannot be changed before the cruise, but can you upgrade at the port if there is anything available? I don't have one booked, but I am curious. :confused3

Thanks!
