Hi, I was wondering if someone could clarify the dining arrangements for me?

I have read (not sure if I am reading it right though). that if you are on the main dining, then that you have a set time for breakfast too? If so, how early would breakfast be because I am booked on the main dining seating?

TIA

Ii am cruising the Med 1st June 2013 (if this makes any difference).

I'm not sure if the Med makes a difference...so someone correct me if there is.

The only day you are assigned a breakfast time is disembarkation day. Normally you'll pack and leave your luggage outside your stateroom on the last night, then get up at the crack of dawn :rotfl2: to eat (at the MDR that you ate in the previous night) and get off the ship. You do not have to do this, though. The buffets are open for breakfast so you could go there to have breakfast instead.

If you have main dining you have a 6:30 am breakfast (if I remember correctly the time). If you had second seating I believe your breakfast time was around 8 or so on disembarkation day. We had main seating last time and I refuse to do it this time.... We are so not a morning family and my oldest (10 at the time) was so miserable at breakfast she actually crawled under the table and went back to sleep after crying she was so tired. She never did eat breakfast!

Thanks for the info.

Whilst my kids are normally early risers we always see to have to wake them when we have gone to DLP. So I think the long days of Disney and the later nights really take it out of them.

No. Only on the last day. And you don't have to go.

Breakfast and lunch are on your own for everyday but the last. You can go to one of the MDRs anytime they are open, go to the buffet, rooms service or one of the fast food places. Only on the last day are you assigned. It is to the same MDR you ate in the night before. You have the option of skipping breakfast and going to the buffet. There is no room service the last morning.

Okay, thanks for setting me on the right track.

I have a lot to learn, and a lot of time to learn it. :yay:

Only the last day do you have an assigned breakfast time and place. All other days you can have breakfast where ever they are serving it and can go at anytime during the open hours for breakfast. You should be able to choose from the buffet up on deck 9, or the buffet in Parrot Key, or a plated breakfast in the central dining room, or you can choose room service. On disembarkation day you will be assigned to the rotation restaurant you ate in the night before, and you will have a set time for this. Approx 6:30am if you have main dining, and approx 8:30 if you have second seating dining. Or you can choose to go to the buffet up on deck 9, Topsiders.

Disclaimer: I haven't been on a cruise yet so the following could be wrong but I've been reading a LOT on these boards for the past year! I read a tip for those with early breakfast on disembarkation day - order room service the night before! Order a carafe of coffee, a cheese plate, a fruit plate or anything else that will keep overnight and there ya go. :thumbsup2 I don't believe you can take any unwrapped (as in non-store-bought wrapped) food off of the ship, though, so keep that in mind.

You can do this. Room service stops at 1 am the last night so if you are up late packing make sure to order before then.

On a 7 night or longer cruise, you have 2 assigned breakfasts--the character breakfast and the last morning. If you don't like the times, you can choose to not attend and have breakfast elsewhere--like on the pool deck.

You never have an assigned lunch--eat when and where you want. Breakfast every other day is when/where you want.

The exact times of the disembarkation breakfasts have varied over the years. Some cruises, all the restaurants had the same time (6:30 or 6:45 and 8:00). On other cruises, they were slightly staggered depending on your restaurant assignment. For instance, late dining had breakfast a 8:00 if you were in AP or Parrot, 8:15 in Lumiere's on our December cruise.
