Have any of you packed something like brownies to give out as FE gifts? Are you able to pack them in luggage and take them on the plane? How about through security on the ship?? Thanks!!!

You can not bring home baked or home made items on the ship, you can only bring aboard prepacked dry foods.

i didn't know about the rules, but I was thinking, food? That's the one thing that there is no shortage of on the ship. (i'm sure your baking is delicious.)

My baking is just "ok". I was asking because my DSs DGF owns a bakery and was thinking of making cupcake pops to give out as Fish Extender gifts.

I'm going to let her know that they don't allow homemade foods to be brought onboard.

No offense intended AT ALL, but I would never eat something someone baked themselves and they left it for me to eat if I didn't know them really well, and less so if it were just left in a public place for me to pick up.
Prepackaged as said above is the best option IMO, but I would appreciate the thoughtfulness of the intension behind the gift! :flower3:

I am sure that the bakery has wonderful treats, however, even if they were able to come Onboard, I would still have to throw them away. The sentiment is right, but I would still treat the FE gifts in the same manner as Halloween ToT candy.

Have to agree with this. And sometimes I won't eat something someone makes because I know them so well. I have a friend who keeps her cats' water and food bowls on the kitchen counter...so the cats jump up there to eat.... sometimes right after coming out of their litter....

Needless to say, we always go out to eat. :rotfl2:

I am giving out girl scout cookies for my FE gifts, and so far everyone in my group is very excited. I told them I will be separating them into baggies, wearing gloves, as the entire box wont fit into a FE.

I am giving all of the tipped CM's full sealed boxes of thin mints the last night.

Maybe everyone in my group is lying to me, or the love of girl scout cookies is too overwhelming?

Since you are bringing on board a manufactured product in sealed boxes, you are not violating DCL's policies. What your FE group does about opened product is up to them. I don't doubt for a second that they left your hands having been handled in a safe fashion...but you don't know what some inappropriate kids may have done after they were placed in the FEs. If you opt to give a cabin an entire box. you can ask a stateroom host to place it in the room or ask GS to do the same--just label with room number and as much of a name/dis-name as you know.

Absolutely NO disrespect to you intended...but we've seen kids on the ship getting into things that were not their business (twice only), and seen films of a whole lot worse.

Wouldn't something from an actual bakery be ok?
OP-If the GF makes them and wraps them in the bakery they should be fine. If she makes them at home then they would be homemade. I think the problem would be most bakeries don't seal things up. If she can then they would be fine.

I think they need to be wrapped in a commercial type air sealed packaging.
Saran wrap wouldn't be considered commercial, nor a paper bag or the like.

twindaddy,
I would bring them aboard in the boxes and then separate them into the desired amount's once there.
Then give a token in the FE saying to collect them at a DIS meet or hand them out personally, so they cannot be interfered with inbetween.
But that is just my opinion.

Oh wow--I had no idea about the pre-packaged rule. In fact, I had considered making some candy popcorn to bring along to give out (ran out of time.) We recieved some (very delicious) home made cookies in our FE exchange and we ate them right up--the package was tied tightly with a ribbon and I know no one messed with it once in the FE. Oh well--live and learn!

I am horribly offended and demand a moderator publicly flog you. KIDDING

I didnt know you could put things at GS to put in a room, that is a great idea! I also thought about putting them in a target bag and hanging them from the fish, behind the FE. GS might get mad if I had them ten boxes of girl scout cookies.

Good ideas as always techie. I think I will make little labels for each cabin and hand out at the DIS meetup or give to guest services. I had no idea you could turn things in there, thanks for the tip cashner!

I don't know about anyone else's but an entire roll of thin mints would fit in my FE :lmao: Like other's have said, I would not eat anything that had been opened and handled. But everyone is different.
