If you have $20 Visa gift cards

how do you spend them?

I can't seem to spend them online because if the total is more than $20 I can't figure out a way to split the charge. I never have an exact $20 charge.

Do you just go to a store and ask them to put the first $20 on the visa card? Could I use them for gas and it will auto shut off at $20?????

I have five of them now as rebates.

Thanks,

Dawn

I use them at the store. Just let them know how much is on them and you will be fine. Not sure about using them for gas though.

Yeah I just let the cashier know to split the charge. For gas I think you would have to go in and tell them to put $20 on the pump.

I've had similar problems, but with $50 cards.
The grocery store works the easiest for me.

The gas idea - I pay at the pump - and you usually have to go in the store and have the amount set for the pump.

I also like to use the entire amount at one time. Then I don't have multiple cards with amounts left over like $2.68.

I KNOW!

I had three $100 American Express cards for our last Disney trip (also rewards cards) and I ran into that.

I still have about $10.62 on one of them. I thought I would just load it into iTunes, but I picked the $10 allotment and it ran a check for $1 to verify the card and then there wasn't enough left for the $10 gift so it declined!

I need to use that one too.

I wanted to load them into Amazon as I have something I need to buy.

We rarely go to the grocery store anymore because we do most of our shopping at Costco, but we do go to Target and places like that.

I always go to amazon.com and buy amazon gift cards with them, then add the GC's to my account. Never had any trouble - they don't put a hold on the card or anything. I just did it yesterday with a $5 card I got form Kelloggs. If you buy much at amazon, it's a hassle free way to deal with them.

Well, considering I just spent $80 yesterday at Amazon......:rotfl:

I can do the instant credit, correct? Without needing to get the cards mailed to me?

Thanks,

Dawn

I use them at Target. They don't have any trouble with two forms of payment. Sometimes I buy a Target gift card, but usually I just swipe the prepaid card then swipe my Target card.

Yes. Order an email gift card and enter your email address as the recipient. Then in the payment section enter the visa card number and expiration date (just put your name as the cardholder name). They'll email you the gift card within a matter of minutes and then take the code they give you and apply it to your account. Then you're all set.

I did the Amazon thing this morning because I had 3.72 left on a Visa Rewards card.....I just purchased an Amazon gift card and had it sent to my email address, then added the gift card number to my account. Easy way to get rid of that extra dollar or two on a rewards card :)

In the past I've used them to pay bills though.....you just have to type in how much you want to pay/how much is on the card.

I use mine at the grocery store. I swipe the gift card and tell the cashier how much is on it. Then I pay the balance with my credit card.
