No wbta 2013

Cool ta. Was thinking it must be something of a waiver/declaration type thing to say you are allowed into the country on a one-way ticket but wasn't sure. Does it automically come up to print when you book the flight?

I think so. Either that or it gives you a link to print it.

We played with the different costs of flying into different cities from SEA.

I figured that we could do a little exploring on the way from the airport to the port if the prices were right.

The day I looked (don't remember the dates I choose, but it was when the scuttlebutt was of a Rome home port) there were differences of 750 - 1000 between flying into Paris and Rome.

For us that would be times 3. I figured for $3000 difference we could easily explore for a few days or even just take the train and enjoy the scenary while we get used to the time change.
(Plus the train would go past Boularis and I could relive a few college age memories "Art in France" and Italy redoing the same route)

Skye- who will not go into every art museum in every city on this trip. Nor will she be doing critique writeups. Just appreciating and enjoying the art.

After the 2010 EBTA, I went to London for a few days. So I had two different flights going on - BCN to Heathrow and then Heathrow to Orlando. First flight was with BA. The second was on Aer Lingus (connecting in Dublin). I booked direct with each airline. When I was trying to confirm payment and such for the second flight, it kept kicking back my CC telling me it wouldn't work. :scared1:

I knew the card was good, so I called the cc company. Ends up they were blocking my card due to unusual "foreign transactions" too close together. After answering several security questions, they unblocked my card and I was finally able to finish booking my second flight.

It was a lot of aggravation in a short span of time, however as least I know my cc company was looking out for me. I've always called to let them know when I'll be overseas so my card doesn't get blocked while on vacation, but had no idea it would occur during an internet transaction.

Just something to keep in mind if any of you end up booking multiple flights with a "foreign" airline.

depending on the costs and such, I'm thinking of doing a bit of exploring myself before the cruise. I joked with a friend that I could fly to Ireland, ferry to Wales, train to London, train to Paris to port. My friend told me that if she went, it would have to be a ferry between England and France as she will NOT go underwater for that length of time. Believe me it was hard enough getting her on the metro from Arlington into DC. :rotfl:

OK just scared myself at looking at prices for one way flights from Houston! $1661 per person in economy! My God that would definately rule us out! That's insane! Its $1061 per person for a return which is still over double what I paid for our one way in 2010! Getting worried now that I may need to rethink this cruise as the cost of flights might just push it too far! Anyone else looked at this?

Looking at Orlando:
$1458 1 way on BA
$1017 return on BA
$1431 1 way on Virgin
$944 return on Virgin

Looking at Miami:
$1483 1 way on BA
$1042 return on BA
$1456 1 way on Virgin
$892 return on Virgin

Prices just seem so much higher!

Being from the UK we have decided to buy return airfare from US to England, so we have our 2013 and 2014 holidays covered. We will be looking to fly back to the US, and return to the UK on a TA crossing april/may 2014. This solves our problem of the one way price hike.

DH and I did the 2010 EB two months after booking and finding the Disboards. We were pretty shy and stuck to ourselves, although we did do the FE and Secret Mickey exchanges. It was sooooo much fun, we knew we would rebook but chose the 2011 WB (losing that 6 hrs was painful!). :.
That is basically how we felt as well. We were very shy but soooo looking forward to the 2013.

I guess we are next...
I am Crystal (40) married to Trent (41) have been together for 12 years married for almost 5.
I work for a medical clinic and work as a TA part-time. Trent works for the City.
We have no children (however would love too). We do however have 4 dogs and 2 cats.
We are from Deadwood, South Dakota.
We love Disney so much we got married there, and are DVC members. We can't wait for this cruise!!!

I do have a question we are debating between early and late dining, any insight?

Well, we sent our Travel agent our request to change our dummy cruise to the Westbound!!! We are so excited! We are trying to get a sideways cat 11 or depending on the price a 9A with a porthole. I don't really care, I just want to be on the boat!!

I will introduce myself....My name is Daisy and I am married to Chris. We have an 8 year old daughter and a 5 year old son.....they will be 10 and 7 on the cruise.

I am ready to book already and get that part over with!!

Boy, I go away for a few days and it's hard to catch up. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
For my intro: I am Evelyn, I did the 2011 WBTA, first Disney cruise also sailed on the Magic's Double Dip 7 night in November. She was Decorated so pretty for Christmas, that was a real treat. I am retired from Southwest Airlines, Hence the name fly4free2 :tink: . I travel the world but I must say, Crusing is my favorite and Disney does it best.

The perfect time to step right in after my friend Evelyn.....Hi, I'm Caroline - retired in June after 34 yrs teaching, missed it so much over the summer, that I am back 12 hrs a week teaching. Have 5 grown daughters, 2 grandchildren, and I love life!!!!!

After an abbreviated 2011 WBTA, I decided that some things in life we begin, must be finished, so I plan to complete the 2013 WBTA!! :thumbsup2

Hoping we can relive the "Table 23" experience.

Margaret do you have a crystal ball that foretells a UK TA crossing in 2014 :wizard:

Caroline I didn't realise that you didn't complete the cruise. I hope it wasn't due to an emergency or something bad....you must definitely complete the 2013 one! ::yes::

Morning All. I too was away for about a day and a half and wow did I fall behind on all of the posts!!! Note to self: Check The DIS Board each and every day!!!

I too was thinking like most everyone that we would be returning to Port Canaveral. Galeston never entered my thoughts!!! Port Canaveral, Miami or Tampa would be fine for us. I guess we are just going to have to wait and see. This is the week we should know something for sure!!!

I noticed on here a few pages back someone mentioned a facebook page. Now I am not setup on facebook. Frankly, don't not anything about it. How hard is it to setup? Can you keep all of your info private? Can someone help a facebook challenged guy out here???:thumbsup2

It's been so long since I set up my account, I don't remember much. I think you just go to Facebook homepage and register. You can then go to the Transatlantic FB page and make a request to join. You can also go to individual members' pages and make "friend" requests. That way you can see stuff on their pages, and pictures they post. Here's the link to that page: 2013 Transatlantic page

You can set your privacy settings to "private," but even still, things can happen. I went to a lecture by an internet security expert (used to work for the FBI or something) a couple of years ago, and he said it's possible for unscrupulous sorts to get into your account, use your pics, etc., no matter how "private" you think you've made everything. It even happened to him!

That said, it's not likely that anything will happen with your account. I just make sure I never post anything that I wouldn't want the entire world to see. So I post my birthday w/o the year and just post fairly vague info about work/school/etc. I know there are ways to set up groups so that some people can see some things but not others, but I haven't bothered with that. I usually set my pictures to either "Friends" or "Public" so that people on the Tranny cruise page who aren't on my friends list can see them.

Okay, I hope that helps. I'm sure there are more FB savvy sorts here who can give you more advice, but this should get you started.

Ok, thanks PFlamingo.:thumbsup2 That doesn't sound too bad. I'll go and check it out. And thanks for the link to the TA facebook page. I've just heard some things that sorta worried me about joining. I know allot of people do use facebook, just never had a reason myself to join, until I saw that there was a TA facebook page.

I've used Facebook for quite awhile. I don't tend to post very personal stuff since it's changed. Mostly jokes and cute animal photos.

I do still like it as it's easy for my son and DIL to post photos of the kids that I can see.

The downside these days is that you can get many strange messages and friend requests. That's why so many groups are going private. For example, because I am learning sign language and am hard-of-hearing, I frequent some Deaf sites. I now get a ton of "you have won the Deaf lottery" messages, plus tons of messages from men who are just "enamored" by my profile photo. There is, unfortunately, many who prey on certain groups (like the Deaf) to scam them.

Its just a matter of being aware.
