PodCast 4.0 Chit Chat

My interest in a Dec. 2012 Panama Canal cruise didn't last long! I looked at the itinerary from one of the previous PC cruises, and it seemed to be short on ports and long on sea days. I really want to sail on the Fantasy, and I like going to WDW in early December. So...it looks like you all are stuck with me! :rotfl2:

Rumor has it that when DCL announces the Magic and Wonder's 2013 plans - the Wonder will do a Panama Canal cruise Dec. 9 and reposition to Miami! Hmmm...would I rather do a Dec. 8 Fantasy Podcast cruise or a Dec. 9 Panama Canal cruise?

I would choose to do a Panama Canal cruise over the Podcast cruise for sure, but DH won't take 2 weeks off of work, and I suppose it's not great to take DD out of kindergarten for 2 weeks before Christmas break, either, but it IS tempting. Panama Canal - check. Smaller ship - check. Christmas decorations - check. Oh well - we can all dream :cloud9:

I'd love to do some cruises on the Wonder out of Miami if they do some alternative Caribbean ports to make it worth the 4 hr drive from Tampa, as right now, Port Canaveral is only 2 hrs away. I'd love sailing on the Wonder again (smaller ship, less people) and I'd love to see some new islands :thumbsup2

I am more interested in a September 2013 Hawaii cruise than a Panama Canal cruise - especially if it's a Vancouver to Honolulu one-way. If it's another roundtrip from LA, scratch that.

I was briefly booked on the first (May 2009) and second (Dec. 2010) Podcast cruises, and both times I ended up going on other cruises instead. I went to WDW for a week, followed by a 7-night San Juan to Norfolk, VA cruise on RCI in April 2009. When the Dream was available to book - I switched from PCC 2.0 to a Feb. 2011 Dream cruise. Had I still been on the Dec. 2010 Podcast cruise, I wouldn't have been able to go on a 2-week Transatlantic cruise with my husband and in-laws that ended in San Juan the day the Podcast cruise departed. I had no interest in another Dream Bahamas cruise, especially during the summer, so I didn't book PCC 3.0. So - barring any unforeseen events, I think I will be on PCC 4.0. :)

Hey everyone..sorry I haven't been around much, just not feeling well these days.....to much happening....I guess the threads will pick up some traffic as the year progresses. Once airfares come out for southwest, I can begin to do some real planning.

Airfare is out for Alaskan- we have our ticketrs there!!!
Alaskan is the only non stop flight for our route.

Since I am already booked on the podCast cruise, I'd rather stay on that cruise. There will be plenty of Panama Canal cruises (likely 2 or more each year), but a 7 day podCast cruise on the Fantasy has never happened before.

Have you ever been through the PC? It's fabulous ... just as is Alaska. I will go back to PC and Alaska ... and am not bound by specific dates.

I would not hold too much faith in previous itineraries. Given the unrest within Mexico (and hence, DCL's pulling out), they may not want to make as many stops in Mexico. On our EB PC, we stopped in Aruba, and Cartegena ... the first time DCL ever stopped at those islands. Both were nice ... and I would return to see them again ... pretty much ... similar feeling after being in the Caribbean.

Have you ever on a Trans Atlantic Cruise? We were afraid we'd be bored at sea ... but that was the best part. I'd have NO PROBLEMS with 10 days IN A ROW at sea (straight, no excursions).

Enjoy!

I agree about the Podcast cruise on the Fantasy, and have decided to keep this one!

I haven't cruised through the Panama Canal, but I have cruised to Alaska and loved it. Right now I'm booked on a cruise through the Suez Canal in 2013, but I'm not 100% sure I'll actually go on it.

I agree ... would LOVE to go further south ... Miami would be ideal!

I have been on three non-DCL Transatlantic cruises, and two of them had six and five sea days in a row, respectively. That was as many sea days in a row as I care to handle! I chose two of them for the great itineraries, and the third for a combination of nice ports and really low price. I prefer port days to sea days, but welcome sea days interspersed here and there between busy port days to rest.

Hello Everyone !!!! Not much longer and we will be under 300 days.....

Haven't done a PC cruise, yet. Either PC cruise or Dream Villas or All-Inclusive Resort [in US} in Dec 2013. Until DD finishes college, have to do Dec. Summer vacations are sooo expensive.

I'm doing better....still recovering from a wisdom tooth removal...but other than that....all is well. Really bored at work today, I've already finished what I have to do....makes the day go by so SLOW.....

How are you feeling?

I am feeling good. Just tired all of the time. I am sick of the rain right now. But it is better than snow!

So I've heard many great things about the Palo brunch. Has anyone experienced it? Do you plan on doing it this cruise? How early can you make a reservation?

We did Palo brunch on PCC 1.0 (courtesy of Dreams) and it was wonderful!!! Really a spectacular meal. So many choices, and all of them good. Can't say enough good about it (could you tell?).

Reservations can be made at 75 days out if you are a first time or Silver CC member. Gold is at 90 days and Platinum at 105? days.

Jeff,

Not quite -

1st time cruisers can book at 74 days out
Silver at 90 days out
Gold 105 days out
Platinum 120 days out (they get Palo free!)

We've done Palo dinner 3 times & brunch once. Both were great! I think I enjoyed dinner more, but am very glad we did brunch & would do it again :)

That's the question I'm tossing around now. Do we try to do the brunch, dinner, or both.
