How many days

Hi, my wife and I are huge WDW fans, and DVC members. We've never been to Disneyland before, but we're going for the first time in March.

Was wondering what the general opinion was on how many days you should stay at DL?

I'd think 4-5 sounds right though. Depends on time of year/crowd levels and whether you want to stroll around and take in the details/atmosphere or want to race from 1 ride to the next.

Do you have young children? We went in September at stayed at the Grand Calif (DVC units) and easily spent over a week there. It was our first time staying that long, but it was nice! It was great to have the room so close--so much more convenient to go back and forth to vs WDW. We took our time and went back for naps, etc. We also made sure to take time to just enjoy the resort since the pools are great and the hotel itself is beautiful. Even if you think you only need so many days to tour the parks, give yourself time to enjoy where you are staying. Downtown Disney is so close as well, in fact you'll likely walk through it on some of your trips in and out of the parks.

I think 5 is a good number. Be sure to include some weekend days, so you'll be able to catch the nighttime entertainment (F!, fireworks, WoC), which often runs only Fri-Sun during that time of year.

I so agree with the enjoyment aspect.

We're planning 5 days in March when our DS 15 goes to DLR for a band clinic and then talking about 6 days in the summer. Our DS 15 is in high school and can't go with us during the school year, so we want some extra time in the summer to enjoy the pool a little and the beach. And we'll have AP's so we can come and go and still get our money's worth.

Actually depending on when in March, entertainment and hours can be at their max for spring break.

thanks for all of the input...

we booked our flights and we're arriving on March 6th, and departing on the 10th. We land in LAX at 11:00am, so we should get some park time in on the 5th. Our flight home leaves pretty early, so I think we'll have to wake up, maybe get a nice Disney breakfast, then leave.

I have DVC, and we couldn't get a room at the Grand California for our first night, but we are leaning toward Paradise pier.

I REALLY hope we get to see World of Color.

I think with 4 you will be good, but if you want to go in for a bit on the 5th, why not, for the price of a movie ticket you could be in the parks. Hours are likely short on your visit so keep that in mind, especially on the arrival day when parks probably will close at 8pm.

WoC looks to be a sure thing each night. Just plan for Friday your last day to watch F! and RDCT.
