6th BDAY on the Dream 10/16-20th,11 "Hyatt MCO and the Ride Home" 12/30 COMPLETE

We have the same thing. I order the escargot, and everyone wants to try it...get your own!!!

Well I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I wanted to finish up my daughter's birthday night. It was time for dessert and she was brought out this mouse type dessert.

The wait staff got together and sang a song for my DD.

We knew we were going to Cabanas the next day for breakfast so we said our goodbyes. The "Til We Meet Again Party" was our next stop. But one last thing we had to rush to our rooms to make sure everything was packed so our suitcases could be outside our stateroom to be picked up.

Let me just say I liked how they do the farewell on the Wonder better than on the Dream. It felt like we were going through speed dating! They introduced all the chacters and then we had twenty minutes to go around and get hugs and autographs. On the Wonder they had the farewell to the characters and then you had the chance to go and get autographs. This felt way too rushed. If you were in line when they start to play the farewell music, forget it!

It was after 11 before we got back to our cabin. Of course we always end up packing somthing we will need the next morning like underwear or shoes lol

Up next debark day and saying goodbye to the Dream!

So which did your family like better...going to the parks at WDW or the cruise??

It's almost like asking which kid do I love the most?:rotfl: We love the parks because there is so much to do and discover. Our favorite parks being MK and Epcot. We love the cruise because of the interaction you get with the characters. You also get to go visit different destinations you may not ever see if you didn't go on a cruise. They both have totally different feels. Castaway Cay is the cherry on top. We have also had so many once in a lifetime moments on a DCL cruise like having a private meeting with all the characters by ourselves. That is something we will never forget!

The ship you feel like you are rich even though you may not be. Everything is taken care of for you. There is time to actually relax. At the resorts I feel like I am always moving and need a vacation after my vacation.

We have been on two 4 days now and a three day. (We were hooked after our first cruise) We want to see other places so we are thinking about either Aulani which will cost a fortune or another cruise. But this time on the Fantasy for a 5 or 7 day. Another thing for us is we wil have a child in high school the next time we go and won't be able to yank her out of school. We would have to plan our vacation around that too.

Sorry about the long answer. We love them both and will be back hopefully soon:)

We didn't go to bed until about 12AM. My DH and I were scaning the cabin for anything else we needed to pack. The kids were instantly asleep. Both my DH and I woke up around 5AM and we were back in Port Canaveral at the dock. We knew we would have to wake up our kids soon and go for breakfast Never an easy task!

We watched the beautiful sunrise from our table right by the window.

My oldest Cassie wouldn't eat and was crying. I never though she would be so emotional about leaving the Dream. She surprises me more and more each day. I forget that she is still a tween and not as grown up as she would like me to believe.

I loaded my plate up hoping my kids would pick some stuff off mine:

It was time to leave. This is where I always get teary. The girl with the big Mickey glove waved us goodbye and off the ship we were.

We were through customs realtively quick and had to wait for our limo to come and get us. Cassie was still crying and no one was in a good mood.

One last look at the Dream:

It was chilly out so we waited inside the terminal. Our limo was there by 8:30AM. Next stop the Hyatt at MCO.

Oh, the dreaded day when you have to leave ...... I always feel like your daughter - ready to cry! ;)

I was so excited when I read that you were going to the Hyatt at the airport - we decided to spend the first night of our summer trip there. So, would you recommend it?
(We arrive around 7pm and it takes an hour to get through immigration and customs and after a 6 hour time change and a 12 hour travel day we really want to just chill before we drive to Key Largo.)

It's a beautiful hotel and it overlooks the runway (or there are rooms with the balcony facing the inside of the airport. It's pretty neat to watch the planes take off!
The rooms are clean and the beds are comfty. The pool is nice too! It was our 4th time staying there in October. I will post some pics the next post:thumbsup2 It is central to the food court or they have their own restaurant but we haven't eaten there. (Did order roomservice once and it was pretty average but expensive) We must have Nathans' in the food court every time we go.

Thank you so much for your response!
We have always wanted to try the "in-airport" hotel, and when we got the chance this year we looked into it.
And now I am even more excited we will stay there than ever before. Can't wait for your pics - I must show them to Tom! :thumbsup2
I checked out room service and yes, it looks pretty average - we'll see what is still open when we get there.
May I ask a really stupid question? What is Nathan's? Seems to be pretty good when you have it every time. Thank you!!!

Yep Nathan's is pretty darn good! They started selling their hot dogs in the grocery stores here in the states but it's not the same making them yourself lol. Nathan's grills their hot dogs so when you bite into them it "snaps" and the flavor is great. They also make really good fries.
This last time I tried Panda Express also which has stir frys and Asian food. Everything is more expensive of course than what we would pay in WI.
The Disney Store is also right around the corner along with other shops.

The trip back to MCO didn't take long at all! Before we knew it we were at the drive up entrance to the Hyatt. It's a elevator ride up to the lobby. I had pre-ordered our room at http://www.between9and5.com/. (I found that here on the Dis) You can also just walk in without a ressie but I always make one to be safe.

The first time we ever stayed at the Hyatt at MCO our plane broke down and Midwest Express (which is now Airtran) put us up there for the night. Then on our first DCL cruise our flight wasn't scheduled to take off until later in the afternoon so I began scheduling a day room at the Hyatt.

It gives us a chance to take a nap, go for a swim, and relax, before going back through security. The rooms are beautiful. The one we had this time faced the runway. The glass on the verandahs is soundproof.

We headed to our room after the fast check in and found out we had two Queen sized beds.

Each has these huge pillows:

There's a huge flatscreen with internet (for a charge), a mini fridge, a rain shower, and a nice bathroom. There is also a verandah but I didn't take a picture of it.

I tried to lay down and take a nap but my DH was hungry. We headed to the food court and let Cassie sleep. On our way there we stopped by the Disney Store (at the Earport).

This is an important reminder to save your report as you go! I have to retype a lot! UGG!
We let Cassie sleep and headed to the food court.

Next stop was the pool on the roof of the Hyatt.

There are towels up there. The liner of the pool is a bit odd though. It feels like it's coming up in places. And there are no lifejackets so I carried Claire throughout the pool.

Our box that we had sent ahead of time to CBR but didn't make it til the day we checked out was delivered to the Hyatt. We squeezed that stuff into our luggage. It had some FE gifts and our pirate gear in it. I think we left for security about 3. They say to give yourself 2 hours but since we are a family we got right through. Execpt my DH who had a huge tub of lysol wipes in his bag lol! But they let him go.

We had about a hour and a half to sit before our flight took off. We made a stop at Starbucks. (do not give your kids caffine before flying lol)

Two hours and 45 minutes later we were back in Milwaukee and back to the cold. It was 35 degrees when we landed. Our whole time in Florida we didn't have temps below 80.

Is there anything I would change this cruise? Not really. All in all we had a wonderful time. My two years of planning and obsessing really paid off lol I am sad though because I am going back to school in January. I will be spending my Disney money there so I don't think we will be back until at least 2014:( Come and see the Resort side of my vaction here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=43073148#post43073148

Thank you so much for the photos and tips! I think Nathan's goes on the list! :lmao: I talked to Tom today, showed him the photos and mentioned that you go to Nathan's and he knew ALL about it from his first trip to NYC!

I really loved both your reports - the resort one and the cruise one as well - sorry to see them come to an end.
And I really hope that you will be able to squeeze in a trip before 2014 - that's still a while away!

Thanks for taking us along on your trip! :thumbsup2

What a fun trip! I had no idea you could book a day room at the Hyatt either- good to know. :goodvibes The cruise looked wonderful- I can't wait to go! Thanks for sharing!

Ellen

I have read how nice the Hyatt is. I actually did look at staying a few years ago, but our plans then changed.

Thanks for reading! Now I need to book another trip so I have something to do with my free time lol:rotfl:

Loved your trip report. It makes me so much more excited for our Disneymoon cruise. :yay: Not that I really need to be anymore excited right now considering how far away it is, but... it was still fun to read and learn! I’m a Disney World veteran, but a complete noob when it comes to Disney cruises.
