Target return policy w/o a receipt?

Does anyone know what Target's return policy is for items without a receipt? I received a Nook Touch as a gift (no receipt) and have no need for it since I already have a Kindle Touch.

Here is the official policy from their website. I have heard that many stores do not accept returns without a receipt, which is why many don't do registries there. Are you sure it was purchased at Target?

Isn't the Nook from Barnes & Noble? I would probably try taking it back there instead of to Target. I don't know their return policy either, but you might have better luck with the return without a receipt.

Target limits returns without a receipt (or gift receipt) to $70.00 per year. After that you may be able to exchange it for something in the same department. As far as registries are concerned, you can print a purchase log and it will act as a gift receipt.

I'm not aware of any stores that will take an electronics return without a receipt. Is there no way of asking the giver?

You might have trouble with electronics no-receipts returns. I would try to craigslist it, personally.

I don't know who sells Nook but I would try anywhere but Target - they can be a bear about returns without receipts. Does Wal-Mart sell it by any chance - if so I'd try them (assuming it's sealed/ unused which I would think it is since you have a Kindle).

Good luck!

If Walmart does sell the item, that's the route to take...from their website:

What's Walmart's No Receipt returns policy?
Walmart's No Receipt policy applies to items returned in a store only. You have the option of a cash refund (for purchases under $25), a Gift Card for the amount of the purchase (for purchases over $25) or an even exchange for the product. We also follow any manufacturer's warranties. You can make up to three No Receipt returns within a 45 day period.

Barnes and Noble is a real bear about returns without a receipt.

Target is also difficult.

Does Wal Mart carry the Nook? I am not sure.

Your best bet might be to go to the source about a receipt.

Walmart does carry the Nook. They started carrying it last year, and the Kindle just this year. (On the other hand, I haven't seen a Nook at Target, but I haven't been looking, either.)

I second Walmart- they are good about taking with no receipts. They will track and you are limited to a certain number with no receipt per year. Be sure to be prepared to take gift card and lowest price it sold for in the past X months. They will ask for ID also.

I got a Nook last Christmas and a case I didn't like. By the time I got around to return the case with a receipt to B&N in February I saw the only did returns with receipt for 30 days. So I still have that unopened case.

Not sure if Target sells the Nook. But my Target will take returns without a receipt. But I wanted to exchange a DS game that DD got for Christmas. I wanted to exchange Lego HP for Lego HP in 3D and pay the difference. While the selling price for the regular version is $30 without a recipt I would only get a $20 credit.

Not worth it to me. She can just play the regular version.

This is why Kohls needs to start selling EVERYTHING! :rotfl:

This!!!

I returned several gifts from Target with no receipt a couple days ago. No problem at my Target ... they give you the lowest price as store credit. However, I did not have any electronics to return. To be honest, my Walmart is more difficult about returns than Target.

I had a video game my child got. It had a sticker and I knew it was either Costco or Sam's (where grandparents shop all the time). I never like to ask for gift receipts, and they normally give but didn't in this case. I went to Sam's today and asked if it was there game (it had the 6 digit item number so that is why I knew Sam's or Costco). Clerk said it was from there---I asked if they could return w/o receipt. She said sure, gave me lowest price store gift card which was fine. I had never done returns there w/o receipt so I was surprised. Once again I was asked for license. This is the last no receipt return I will probably have until next Xmas! :)
