"There’s NO Sleeping in Disney!” SURPRISE - The Frumps Are Back Again! UPDATE 1/13

Hahaha NO PROBLEM! Hmmm I really don't know! I have never had the Animal Kingdom cupcake before so I can't compare the two. All I do know is that the Red Velvet one is AMAZING and you would not be disappointed if that is the direction you choose!
Oh my God I readjust my ADR's on a daily basis. Like literally.. I need to just go on my trips before I have a whole new set of meals!
THAT IS SO EXCITING!!! Single digits are the best! I'm 12 days away!!!!
YAY MUPPET REFERENCE! Best movie EVER.
Yeah like... I don't even know what other animal they could have done. Maybe a monkey? They have a fun animal noise.

OH GOSH I still can't decide! Whatever I can do both right?
I don't blame you! I've done the same thing. I've even done it for trips that aren't even official yet. It's ridiculous.
I KNOW I CAN'T WAIT! I wish we were gonna be there at the same time for a bit, it would have been cool to see you!
I'm very glad you caught the Muppets reference!!! :thumbsup2
MONKEYS. That's perfect because of the tumble monkeys!

Chapter 24: "We're All One World... We're All One Voice..."
August 22nd, 2011

Our next stop was Kali River Rapids. We used our fastpasses, which was great because our wait was not long! However, that time we did spend waiting was brutal. The heat was unbearable.

I was praying we would go down the hill backwards, and THANK GOD we did!!! We were riding with another group of people who were british and they did NOT want to get wet (they must have been crazy!) so it all worked out. We left the ride completely drenched from head to toe.

We made our way to DinoLand next to ride Dinosaur! Sarah was a little hesitant about this ride, so her and Scott went to ride Expedition Everest again while we went on Dinosaur.

You can tell how hot is it outside by the look on Kristen's face in this picture:

dsc00258ys.jpg

The air conditioning in Dinosaur is fantastic, which made the ride experience quite enjoyable.

We did our classic "look the other way" picture! Nat did not understand why we were doing this until after the ride was over. She thought we told her to look away because the Dinosaur would scare her too much LOL

dsc0720a.jpg

After the ride, we sat in the shade for a little bit because we wanted to meet up with everyone for the 3:30 pm showing of Finding Nemo.

After dilly-dallying around we finally got to the line, and LITERALLY the family in front of us was the last one let in the theatre. Wahh.

So, Kristen's family went to Animal Kingdom Lodge to go to their dinner reservation, and Nat and I stuck around at Animal Kingdom.

We went to "It's Tough To Be A Bug" which is always fun. I hadn't done that one in a while!

LOOK IT! DEER!

dsc0726z.jpg

This picture is too cute! It's the Monkey and the Monkey.

dsc0727h.jpg

I am obsessed with musicals, so I absolutely love the little posters down here!

"A Cockroach Line" - aka "A Chorus Line:"

dsc0731r.jpg

"A Web Side Story" - aka "West Side Story:"

dsc0732t.jpg

"The Dung and I" - aka "The King and I" (however, I'm not quite sure how they equated a King with Dung... but I digress.)

dsc0728u.jpg

"Antie" - aka "Annie," which I was in my Junior year of High School. I was Connie Boylan/Mrs. Greer/A Hoovervillite/A NYC Tourist... aka a variety of different roles. Kristen was in that show with me, too! She was Duffy the orphan. That was one of my favorite shows I was ever in! It's SO cute!

dsc0729g.jpg

"Beauty and the Bees" - aka "Beauty and the Beast," which Nat was in during her Freshman year of High School. I believe her role title was "an enchanted object," however I can't remember if she was a fork, knife, or spoon. Anyways, I want to be in that show SO bad someday!

dsc0730zr.jpg

After that show, we didn't really know what to do to pass the time until our dinner. So we sat by an Ice Cream Cart and watched Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade!

dsc0737m.jpg

These old people behind us were wearing Mike Wazowski shirts and had their hair dyed purple. EVERY SINGLE performer in that parade commented on their outfits or gave them a thumbs up.. such as Mickey in this picture:

dsc0763v.jpg

They were actually super nice and were just having a fun old time for themselves! I had to snap a picture so I could remember them. They were pretty awesome.

dsc0764xp.jpg

I feel like the Jammin' Jungle Parade is a little bit frumpier than the other parades. The performers were just chatting in the middle of it and seemed pretty casual. It may have been the heat, but you know what I mean.

It was so beautiful, though! The floats are AMAZING!

dsc0739m.jpg

dsc0740nt.jpg

I haven't sat through the entire parade since I was in elementary school, so I'm glad we took the time to do that!

dsc0736j.jpg

dsc0741s.jpg

I absolutely LOVE Minnie's Float!

dsc0744g.jpg

Br'er Rabbit!

dsc0746lc.jpg

I'm glad the Song of the South characters are incorporated into stuff... even though their movie is like, not available for purchase. I hope it is one day, I really want to see it!

dsc0747e.jpg

More characters!

dsc0751dz.jpg

Donald!

dsc0752l.jpg

Pluto is like one of my top, top, TOP favorite characters. He's so cute!

dsc0754xi.jpg

PRAISE THE LORD!

dsc0757s.jpg

Even Mickey got tired from the heat and had to lean against the railing by the end of the parade! I can't imagine being in one of those costumes in August! Holy cow.

All of the families chosen to be on the floats looked so hot and all of the performers were just sweating. I wish there was a better solution to this Florida heat in August but I really don't know what I could be.

Chapter 25: Tusker House
August 22nd, 2011

Once the parade ended at our spot, we followed it to Africa because we had to go to dinner there.

After about 6 cycles of "we're all one world, we're all one voice. It's all of our future it's all of our choice. Living together, together as one. Sharing a journey under the same SUNN.... YEAHHHH!" we got to our dinner destination. Yes, I did sing the song each and every time. I'm glad I know all of the words to the shows at Disney.

dsc0768r.jpg

We finally arrived here:

dsc0779jb.jpg

Tusker House time!

It's decorated so nicely in there! I thought this sign was really cool:

dsc0778g.jpg

We were seated fairly quickly and went straight to the buffet!

I, stupidly, got a kids' plate, so I had to cram tons of food onto it! It was overflowing. So don't worry, I'm not a TOTAL fatty, (okay maybe I am) but I just didn't have as big of a plate as I needed.

Starting at the top, I had Mashed Potatoes, Salmon, a Pita, Green Beans, Fruit, Corn Dog Nuggets, and Beef.

dsc0771u.jpg

Here is Nat's Plate... she was smart and an adult-sized one.

I'm not exactly sure of all of the things she got... but I know there is a lot of rice, (which she really loved!) some meat, some green beans, a corn dog nugget, and something that I just have no idea.

dsc0770ja.jpg

I had to go up and get seconds because I needed to get....

dsc0772t.jpg

THE MAKE YOUR OWN PB&J! Yes, it is one of the kid's selections but it is my favorite part about this buffet! I really have no idea why I love it so much, because at home I dread making my own sandwiches because I'm so lazy! But it's just so fun here. And I never eat white bread at home, but I can justify any splurging while I'm in Disney!

I also grabbed a little more salmon (it must have been good!) and one more corn dog nugget! (which I don't think I ate because I was so full)

The food at this buffet is generally pretty good, but there is a lot of adventurous food that we don't have pictured. However, I think there is enough variety to satisfy most people.

We were celebrating Nat's Birthday on this trip, so they brought her a little cupcake! She doesn't really like cupcakes, but it was a nice gesture!

dsc0774yt.jpg

dsc0775u.jpg

Then it was dessert time!

Here is my plate (yes, the one FILLED with food. I sometimes don't know how I eat this much.) Starting at the top, banana-cinnamon bread pudding, cherry cobbler, some cookie bar type thing with coconut and chocolate chips, a lemon bar, and a chocolate cup with raspberry cream. They were all delicious!

dsc0776jv.jpg

Here is Nat's plate. She got a lot of the same things as me, but she also got a Chocolate Chip Cookie! She's obsessed with cookies.

dsc0777w.jpg

Our waitress was named Michelle. She was very friendly! She saw that I had my trip journal out (because I usually catch up on writing when I am at table service restaurants) and she asked if I blogged about my trips. I told her about disboards, and she wanted to check it out!

I used to go to Tusker House ALL of the time back in the day when I used to constantly go to the same restaurants. After trying so many new places though, I decided that this was a good meal, but definitely not one of my top favorites. I probably will be taking a break from it for a while. I'm not saying it was bad at all... because it was good! There are just so many other places I would choose over this.

Overview of Tusker House Dining Experience:
Food: Good. Nothing spectacular. I actually really enjoy the kid options here, I'm not gonna lie. 3/5
Waitress: Michelle
Service: She was nice, especially for a buffet waitress. She chatted with us for a bit! 4/5
Overall: I'm glad we went, but I probably won't go back for a while. It's just sort of bland. 3/5

By the time we were done with dinner, Animal Kingdom was closed! So it was time to go!

I love the Animal Kingdom decorations! They're great.

dsc0780e.jpg

Nat likes to make herself at home at Disney:

dsc0782q.jpg

We ALWAYS forget to take pictures with the Tree of Life, so we took a couple on our way out:

dsc0783k.jpg

dsc0785ws.jpg

We made our way out....

dsc0786w.jpg

And past the "Let the Memories Begin" sign.

dsc0788m.jpg

At this point, there was some gray cloud coverage and it was thundering! It wasn't raining yet, though.

dsc0787ln.jpg

We made it to the bus stops with intentions of going back to the room, but the line to get to Coronado was RIDICULOUS!

dsc0789s.jpg

So we decided just to head to our park of the night!

heyy love your trip reports :) been following along on your last two, Kristen knows lol. if you want to watch song of the south you can see the whole thing on youtube, i just watched it a couple months ago.

Yall look so cute in your matching name/Mickey Head shirts! :goodvibes

Sounds like it was a fun day at Animal Kingdom! Festival of the Lion King is always a great one to watch. Haha, I love that they make giraffes sound like sheep. ;)

Thanks for the Tusker House review... I've never done dinner there before. Looks like we will just be sticking to breakfast there with the characters!

I have to agree on you with Tusker. I ate there for the first time a few months ago and was not impressed. I hear it's like Boma buffet for dinner and if that's the case, I doubt I'll head there anytime soon but Jiko is pretty great!

So SING it ooout! and DANCE along! Join the adventure the party's begun! We're jammin' in the jungle to the rhythm of one! :thumbsup2
Man I love that song, haha.

Ready to be shocked? I have never been to a Disney buffet (minus when we went to Chef Mickey's in 1990, which I only vaguely remember). The closest we've gotten is 'Ohana. I've already told my husband that we're at least going to Boma on our next trip, because everyone says it's amazing, particularly at breakfast.

I see someone already mentioned that Song of the South was on YouTube, but so that I have something else to share from YouTube, have you ever seen A Muppet Family Christmas? It's the Muppet special I remember the most from when I was growing up, and love love love it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtgYDpvRCMI

Okay I'm all caught up! :goodvibes

I have an iPhone and I am not very happy with the Disney app I have. I paid like five dollars for it and it doesn't give character greeting times. All it does is park hours, wait times, maps, and Dining menus. It's okay, but not worth the money!

Great safari pics! I love the muddy rhino!

I haven't seen FOTLK in sooo long! I think I've skipped it like the last three trips I've taken. I need to make a point to see it this time. I love it!

Hahaha okay I am cracking up at your Dinosaur picture! You guys are hilarious, and the kid in the front row is killing me! :lmao:

Those purple haired people look awesome! I love to see people having a great time at Disney. On our Disneymoon John and I met a couple who had come to Disney for their anniversary every year for 30 years. They were so cool! :goodvibes Hopefully that will be John and me someday!

OH GOSH I still can't decide! Whatever I can do both right?

MONKEYS. That's perfect because of the tumble monkeys!

Yeah just get them both! You only live once! :thumbsup2
Hahaha it's totally fine! Thank God for being able to make ADR's online! So nice and easy!
Aww I know! That stinks that we are going to miss each other, but I hope you have a fabulous time! Your crowds are probably going to be a lot more manageable than mine!
Hahaha of course! It's the muppets!
And yes exactly!

heyy love your trip reports :) been following along on your last two, Kristen knows lol. if you want to watch song of the south you can see the whole thing on youtube, i just watched it a couple months ago.

Aww thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them! Ahh really!? I will need to look that up! I can't believe I didn't think of that sooner!

Yall look so cute in your matching name/Mickey Head shirts! :goodvibes

Aww thank you! We loved those shirts!
It really was! And LOL I know... how frumpy.
Yeah I would definitely stick with the breakfast. I mean, the dinner wasn't bad it was just nothing special. I would definitely choose Yak and Yeti if I was going to dine at AK for dinner.

I have to agree on you with Tusker. I ate there for the first time a few months ago and was not impressed. I hear it's like Boma buffet for dinner and if that's the case, I doubt I'll head there anytime soon but Jiko is pretty great!

Yeah it's not terrible... but I don't feel the need to revisit anytime soon. I have never done Boma for dinner, but breakfast there is great! And YUM Jiko is FANTASTIC! I love it there!

So SING it ooout! and DANCE along! Join the adventure the party's begun! We're jammin' in the jungle to the rhythm of one! :thumbsup2

And bark and growl and screech and roar.... and stomp and jump and leap and soar! (I think those are the words :rotfl:) I know, that song is great. I like to belt it out. YEAAHHHHH!
Wow really!? Is there a reason why? Like, some people prefer sit downs - my Mom being one of them. Boma is great for breakfast, so I hope you enjoy it!
I don't think I have! I need to check it out because I LOVE anything Muppets! :) And if it's a christmas special... double win.

This photo is so hilarious. We have the three of you being silly, the kid in the front row with the thumbs up and the person in the back row all of the way to the left looking truly terrified. Classic !!!

:lmao: HAHAHA it's probably one of the best Dinosaur ride photos ever taken, not gonna lie.

Okay I'm all caught up! :goodvibes

Hooray!
Is it the Disney Magic Guide? Because I have that one, and although it lacks the character times, I just love having the menus right there. I use them ALL the time. And lines comes in handy too! If they added the character thing it would SO be worth the money though.
It's not fair... you'd think that by having an iPhone you could have mobile magic. I mean, it's one of the most advanced and popular phones out there.. it just doesn't make sense to me! Oh well. One day hopefully they'll make it compatible.
Ahh make sure you see it next time! It's SUCH a good show!
:lmao: Oh thank you. I just love that picture.
That's adorable! Aww that would be so cute if you guys could do that too! God, I need to find a Disney loving boy ASAP!

You must find a way to watch Song of the South! We have a VHS and a DVD of it, but they're bootleg copies from somewhere overseas. :rotfl: Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I'm glad you posted a Tusker House dinner review! You saved a lot of us from making dinner reservations there. :) I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that wasn't it. You guys had a busy day in AK, and I can't wait to see what park you're on your way to!

Ps- I was watching some of your YouTube videos yesterday and I wanted to ask what kind of camera you use to take them!

hahaha I may eventually just have to do that. :rotfl:
Yeah not that the restaurant is bad, but there are better places. So I'm glad the review helped! :goodvibes And yes, it was a fun night!
And I use a Sony HD Handycam Camcorder. It says it's model HDR-CX160 and has 3.3 mega pixels haha. I hope that helps

That does help. :) How big of a memory card do you have to have to record so much video in one day? Done with the questions now!

I can't stand that Disboards has been so weird this week and is mixing posts up! I don't know why my reply is above yours.

That does help. :) How big of a memory card do you have to have to record so much video in one day? Done with the questions now!

Hahaha that's totally fine! :) No worries! And I have a 16 GB memory card as well as the internal memory. (which I think is also 16 GB) That lasted me the entire trip and then some! :goodvibes

I haven't been on Kali River Rapids in soooo long. At least five years. Remind me to put it on my 'Must Do' list for July.

The lady with her hand over her eyes in the back row on Dinosaur is cracking me up.

"One Singular Infestation" :rotfl:

Purple hair? Mike Wazowski t-shirts? I want to be friends with those people.

I love the music from Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade. Sometimes I just feel like yelling "AND BARK AND GROWL AND SCREECH AND ROAR" at people.

I'm sorry Tusker House wasn't that great. Disney food should never be just OK. It should always be AMAZING.

Yikes! I don't think I've ever seen AK's bus stop that crowded. I probably would've turned right around and gotten a cab.

I can't wait to hear where you spent the evening!!

I love that parade! The bathtub on the Minnie float smells like hot chocolate during the Christmas version:goodvibes! I can't wait only 3 days away!:woohoo:

I just caught up watching the videos. I love them!! I picture you girls watching them when you are much older and being so happy that you documented such wonderful moments for you to remember. Hopefully you will still be visiting Disney and loving it throughout your lives.
I liked your new FRUMP names for the rides too!
I hope you go on more trips soon so that the trip reporting will continue.

Wow really!? Is there a reason why? Like, some people prefer sit downs - my Mom being one of them. Boma is great for breakfast, so I hope you enjoy it!

I like buffets, but my husband is not a huge fan of them. I've told him I want to start branching out a bit more with the restaurants we go to while at Disney, so hopefully we'll try out a couple more soon.

Ahhh that looks hot there- Kristen's face really does show how hotttt it is.
Yay I love those posters, and all musicals...especially Annie. It was the first time I got a main part when I was 10. Still a favourite :goodvibes

Song of the South is pretty great! It came out here so we have it on video and a copy on dvd. If you're ever in Australia feel free to drop by and watch it :lmao:

Ick every time I think about how fun it would be to be a dancer in the parade... I remember days like that...in the heat...in fluffy suits! So much respect for people that do that!

That food looks amazing! PB&J is way better when you make it yourself....at Disney! Everything is. Golden rule.

Love your dino photo btw but I think your next goal when you ride Dinosaur should be to make the whole car look the other way. hilarious.
