It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Hey guys!

So I'm leaving tomorrow for Disney World and wanted to get this thread up and started now. This is the trip that never should have been. Way back in February we started planning the trip. My grandfather was put on hospice in July and has been fighting ever since. In September we decided to cancel the trip all together, but as luck would have it, my dad agreed that we should get down to Disney and we managed to take our one week vacation and shorten it down to a long weekend.

That much being said, we had to cut out two parks and a lot of the other fun stuff that we wanted to do, but I think we're going to have a grand time anyways.

A little bit about us.

I'm Kim. I'm 22 and just recently graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Forensic Biology. This was a combined Christmas 2010, Graduation and Birthday gift for me. I'm a bit of a wannabe photographer, but I only have a fancy point and shoot as my camera (but you'd be surprised the quality of pictures that I can get off of it). I prefer to hide behind the camera, but this year we got PhotoPass so that we could have some pictures together. My favorite park has to be Epcot (or Animal Kingdom) and I love Eeyore. I'm a vinylmation addict, so expect there to be some stuff on vinylmations.

This is Nana. She's in her 80s and loves all things Disney. She loves Disney during the Holidays and is almost more excited than I am to get away on this long weekend jaunt. She loves Mickey Mouse and Magic Kingdom, the quintessential Disney. She's an avid pin collector and loves getting to talk to people while trading.

We're doing Free Dining (plus paying for a few meals here and there) and hitting Epcot and Magic Kingdom. We even have an entire day planned just for shopping and resort hopping, so if you're interested, join us on this magical trip report.

Hi guys!

Welcome again to my trip report. Glad that you guys are here with me. So without further ado, let's get started.

Here we are getting ready to go on the plane from Allentown, PA down to MCO. The plane left at 8 in the morning, so it's pretty early in many of these pictures and we're already tired. I couldn't sleep at all the two nights prior to the trip.

On the way to the Grand Floridian, we stopped off at DTD and got our lanyards for pin trading and everything. Then we headed to the Grand Floridian to check in. Unfortunately, the room wasn't ready, so we walked around a bit, checked out the gingerbread house.

Then our room was ready, so we went in and checked it out.

Then thankfully we were able to get into Afternoon Tea when someone didn't show up.

I got Vanilla Rooibos tea and my grandma got Earl Grey. The tea was fantastic. We also got the tea sandwiches and scones. The tea sandwiches were good (according to my grandma, I didn't eat any because I didn't like any that they had). They do have options for pickier eaters (or kids, but I was content with my two scones). The scones were delicious and I highly recommend them if you're going.

After that we hit a bit of a speed bump getting the scooter from Walker mobility. They apparently delivered it by noon, but according to the people at the front desk they never got a key with it. This got Nana all upset. But it all worked out in the end and we only lost half an hour of time.

Up next, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

You're certainly off to a grand :rotfl2: start Kim. Nothing better than getting started with a good cup of tea, and they definitely know how to make a proper cup. The Gingerbread House looks great, really looking forward to seeing that in a little more than a week (for us). Your Gran looks like she enjoys life and I bet this was a lot of fun. BTW - I'm Fred from over in the planning group. OK - now you can continue.

I have no idea how it escaped my notice before that somebody is IN the gingerbread house??!! :scared1:

Oh the willpower she must have. :lmao: We didn't even go down to the ground floor bc I was afraid I'd take a bite!

Looks like you are off to a great start! What a bit of pixie dust, your being able to pop in for tea! Can't wait to hear more!

I'm just LOVING the pictures PLEASE post more.. I was thinking about taking my daughter to the tea for a bday gift. Was it enjoyable? She really likes to drink tea but she is not a girly girl she is more the tomboy kinda girl. Do you think its okay for a 15 yr old?
