Season Pass Question

Hi, we are going to buy season passes this year because we are going to Disneyworld in March, June and December and I had a question. Does the year begin when you purchase them, or does it begin the first time you use them? I've searched and have had no luck finding the answer.

I'm sure it doesn't matter, but I'm out of state (Maryland).

Thanks!

Tim

If you purchase an Annual Pass by phone or online, you will receive either a voucher or will call number. You must go to guest relations/guest services outside one of the parks or Downtown Disney (there have been some limited reports of being able to obtain them at the resorts) and exchange the voucher or will call number for an actual pass. The use year for the pass begins at the time the voucher or will-call number is exchanged, and the pass is physically issued.

So if we are going in March, I probably should wait to purchase them? We are going to have some extra money in December and wanted to buy them then. Do you know if it will be ok to will call them for 3 months or should I just wait til it gets closer? I am just afraid we will spend the money I have allocated for the passes before March.

So I just looked at the DVC site and you can will call or pay $5.00 for shipping. So you are saying they ship vouchers and not the actual passes? If that's the case I assume I can pay for them the end of December and then pick them up in March as long as I don't lose the vouchers?

Thanks!

That is correct, you'd pay for them when you order them, and they would ship vouchers. Three months is not too early, some people buy way, way in advance to avoid future price increases.

I would assume you'll also be given the option (if you call on the phone) to NOT pay the shipping, and receive a will call number instead of a physical voucher.

When you arrive at Disney World and exchange the voucher or will call code, you'll need to show your drivers license and DVC membership card, to verify the eligibility for the discount.

If you pay the $5, you will get a plastic exchange voucher. If you don't pay the fee, you will only get a confirmation number. Either way, you would go to guest relations and exchange for the actual AP.

In both the case of the physical voucher and the will-call, they do not expire. You can buy them as far ahead as you like.

Is there any benefit to paying the extra $5 for the voucher? Seems like a waste of $5.

I always use will call. But I think if you get the voucher, you can access the AP website with the number printed on it.

It really is not worth paying $5 to get a voucher you do not even need to pick up the APs at WDW. If you do not pay $5, you get an email receipt and usually even that you do not need to pick up the APs. Since you will be in their computer system, all you really need to pick up the APs is ID and DVC member card.

If the system is like MVMCP will-call tickets, It should work that way, but if the CM enters a typo for your name, you need the number. (Thank goodness for smart phones, because otherwise Guest Relations could not find our MVMCP tickets)

Personally, I would be buying a discounted MYW ticket to upgrade.

You can't get access to the AP website easily by entering a number like you can when you have an actual pass or a voucher, but I was able to use the "Contact Us" link to send an email and explain that I wanted access to the web site with a will call number. They sent me a reply back, we exchanged some info via email, and they gave me access. It took me a few days, but I did eventually get in.
