Gay characters (and couples) in Disney shows and movies

Or in some cases man, man and woman, or woman, woman and man. That would be called a "bi" lifestyle. Even worse in my eyes. but I suppose i'm way to conservative for everyone here. Seems I'm being discriminated against now.
Is everone ok with explaining the "bi" lifestyle with their 4 year old. Heck, why doesn't Disney have a bi character?

LOL! :lmao:

Honey, my "bi" lifestyle looks EXACTLY like your "straight" lifestyle, except that if a cute girl walks by, my husband might not be the only one watching her walk away.

You are seriously deluded.

Well, because I am not able to express my feelings without abuse.. I am being ganged up on. It is a free country, right?? So why am I not entitled to my opinion???

Thank you for pointing out that you really have no clue what abuse is either.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, and when their opinion contradicts yours it is disagreement NOT abuse.

What do you mean, how is it different??? One is a man and woman, other is two men or two women. Or in some cases man, man and woman, or woman, woman and man. That would be called a "bi" lifestyle. Even worse in my eyes. but I suppose i'm way to conservative for everyone here. Seems I'm being discriminated against now.

OMG LOL NO. That is NOT a "bi" lifestyle, that is Polyamory. Someone who is bisexual is simply attracted to both genders. Meaning, quite simply that they can either have a Male/Female relationship or a Female/Female relationship if they are a woman or a Male/Male relationship if they are a man. It does not mean they are loose and wanting to date everyone or be in a relationship with more than one person at a time.

I will never understand how people think double standards big time

You questioned the validity of the Wiki definition and told me to check Websters. I did as requested and fail to see how the meaning of the word has changed. Double standard to use a word, back up its usage with a post of its meaning, have said meaning questioned, and repost a link from the proffered site??? That's not a double standard. Its doing as requested, but you are taking it as contention. Not my intention at all. It was a point of clarification.

So if I believe homosexual sex wrong, and is against my moral standards, and you think that is bigoted... by your own definition, you are bigoted against my religion.
 You. Bigots.
And as I recall, the majority of people were not upset that Tiana was black, but that the first black princess was not a princess, she was the "princess" family cook.
I would not be holding my breath for the first gay princes. I don't feel like explaining homosexual relations to my children before I explain sex to them. Call me old fashioned.

Funny as to you are assuming my religious beliefs. Pray tell me, what exactly do I believe again? I must have forgotten.

Wow....lots of charity and love in that response....very classy miss alaska

I am always, always confused when people talk about not wanting to explain what gay means to their children. It doesn't need to be a graphic sex talk.

"Some families have two daddies." Pretty easy, I think.

As a personal anecdote, we have several gay family members. I can't remember an age when I didn't know what gay meant. There was never an awkward conversation about it, I was just told "This is Uncle Mike's new boyfriend." I have a sister who is 17 years younger than me, and it is a treat to watch this same process with her. She doesn't think twice about the fact that some of her uncles date women and some date men. Children, in my experience, are very open, so long as they're given the chance.

My husband is laughing at me now. He said I am spending to much time on-line and If I don't stop laughing I will wake up the kids!!

In the words of the immortal Ron Burgandy, "Goodnight San Diego and stay classy".:rotfl:

Thought of another, what about All My Children's Bianca story.
I don't know if it's because of where we live, but we have many gay families in our town. My kids thankfully have grown up in an area with many different types of families. And we can all respect each other for the people we are, not based off which adult we are with.

We are a live and let live kind of family. ( drives my conservative Dad nuts but hey we respect his right to his beliefs and he respects my "communist beliefs")

I was pointing out your hypocrisy, I know nothing abut your religion.
If my religious beliefs dictate that homosexuality is wrong, and you believe my beliefs are bigoted that makes you, yourself, a bigot.

No, it makes it a disagreement. Bigotry has a definition. It's not an euphemism for "I don't like what you are saying."

Believing that someone is "wrong" due to the way they are, is bigotry. Disagreeing with that belief is just that, disagreeing.

Hiding behind G-d to make one group "lesser" than yourself, is something more serious than disagreement between reasonable minds.

Exactly. One doesn't draw a diagram when talking about a mommy and daddy to a young child, so why would it be any different when teaching about gay couples?

Anyway, it is somewhat disappointing that politics is being brought into this thread. Certainly this matter can be discussed without "going there".

Anyone who defines disagreement as abuse or bigotry has quite obviously never experienced actual abuse or bigotry.

This baffles me too! How do those people explain heterosexual couples to their kids?
I tell my kids that when two people love each other they can choose to get married and maybe even have kids. (well I hope someday soon we will all be able to marry the ones we love if we so choose)
My daughter once said "But two men can't get married!" and I said "Sure they can! A family can have two dads, two moms, or a mom and a dad. There are lot's of different types of families." She said "Oh, ok."
Not too tricky to explain...
