~He didn't drink the Kool Aid.. He bathed in it!August TR~12/13 PG45 The End

It took us a long time to get through telling you about the "Engagement Day" but we are finally finished and on the following day!

Caitlin and I were both really excited about this particular day because we had a Dis-Meet breakfast scheduled that was a few years in the making! After several years of being Dis-friends we were finally going to meet up with "Queenofallthings" and her daughter, Jasmine! :woohoo: Jasmine's boyfriend Jeff was travelling with them so we were looking forward to meeting him too :)

Our breakfast was scheduled for the Polynesian's "Kona" at 8am. After our the exhausting day we'd had the guys had some trouble getting moving that morning but we finally hopped in the car about 7:45 and headed to the Poly. Now I'd always heard when you drive to a resort for an adr they are really strict about how long you can leave your car parked there. We DID NOT find this to be the case. We parked around 8am and didn't go back for the car until about 8pm.

Shortly after we 8am we excitedly made our way through the Polynesian. Of course Caitlin was taking pictures along the way...

We quickly found Queen and it was more like seeing an old friend rather than just "meeting" for the first time. We exchanged hugs and they gave Caitlin a cute Winnipeg Jets t-shirt which she loved.

By that time our guys had parked the car and had joined us. We then all headed to Kona for our breakfast. We were quickly seated and we all looked at the menu as we chatted away.

Caitlin and I ordered the Big Kahuna breakfast to share. It is huge and a good deal! For $11.99 it includes French toast, Pancakes topped with Pineapple sauce and Macadamia Nut Butter, eggs, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage! YUM! Caitlin also had the Kona Pressed Pot which she loves!

Josh wanted to order pancakes but Caitlin talked him into the Dis-favorite "Tonga Toast". He loved it!

Tonga Toast - banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with Strawberry Compote and your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage $10.99

Dale was in the mood for fresh fruit so he chose the fruit plate which is $8.99. He loved it! Doesn't it look good?

I don't recall what our dining companions ordered but I do remember that they tried to get Jeff to eat all their leftovers. It was then that we first realized how alike Josh and Jeff were

We had a great time, eating, and talking and laughing. For those of you who know Queen I can assure you she is just as wonderful as you think she is!

We asked our waitress to get a group picture and it came out pretty well except for Josh looking half asleep :rotfl:

We were having such fun that we lost track of time and suddenly realized we'd been there 2 hours! We decided to all head to Epcot together so we made our way out to the Monorail. Guess what Caitlin was doing while we walked?

While we waited for the Monorail Caitlin phoned another Dis-friend so we could all say "Hi". MEK, another longtime Dis-pal that we have just missed meeting on our last several trips, mentioned several times she wished she could join us all so we phoned and said hello so she could be there too. After our quick phone call we hopped on the Monorail and headed to Epcot!

I'll stop here and let Caitlin tell you about our Epcot adventures with Queen, Jasmine and Jeff :)

That photo of the Tonga Toast is making me hungry! It's been a while since we've been to the Poly, so one of these days we have to go back. Oddly enough, the pictures are also making me more excited about staying at Universal's Royal Pacific next month since they both have a Pacific island theme. I'm sure they won't have Tonga Toast though.

Had to laugh at your comment about Jeff and the leftovers. When we had dinner with their whole crew at Boma the joke was how many times would he return to the buffet. :rotfl2:

You are right in saying it is like meeting an old friend. We had only met them, in person, once before in 2009 but when we saw them again it was like see long-lost friends. They are a great bunch of people who we hope to get to see again soon.

I have always wanted to try Kona for breakfast. The pancakes always sound so good. But since we usually spend a ton of time there for our other meals, it tends to get cut off the ADR list. I am drooling over that breakfast though. Yum!

Sounds like a fun Dismeet and can't wait to hear more about your adventures!

I've never tried the Tonga Toast but Josh thought it was great :)

Our last few trips we've eaten there twice during our vacations and we just love the restaurants they have :thumbsup2

I hope you love the Royal Pacific! :goodvibes

Poor Jeff the butt of all the jokes

They are great people and so much fun! We hope our trips overlap again sometime! :)

We have had both breakfast and lunch at Kona and have had wonderful meals everytime :thumbsup2

It's always so hard to narrow down where to eat! Hopefully you'll make it to Kona sometime :)

Caitlin and I were both really excited about this particular day because we had a Dis-Meet breakfast scheduled that was a few years in the making!

I chuckled when I read that. "Okay, we finally got that pesky 'engagement day' out of the way. Now for something really good!"

Don't know if I mentioned this, but I only follow 3 TRs. Yours and Queens are two of 'em. It's getting a little confusing now trying to remember who's told me what and when!

In a good way, though! :)

Now I'd always heard when you drive to a resort for an adr they are really strict about how long you can leave your car parked there. We DID NOT find this to be the case. We parked around 8am and didn't go back for the car until about 8pm.

I wonder if it's Disney that's strict or the DIS?

We quickly found Queen and it was more like seeing an old friend rather than just "meeting" for the first time.

Isn't that always the way? DISers are who this phrase was written for.
'Birds of a feather, flock together.' When I met Queen and her Sister (and family... among others) there was no akward 'getting to know you' phase. It was great!

We exchanged hugs and they gave Caitlin a cute Winnipeg Jets t-shirt which she loved.

GO JETS GO! GO JETS GO! GO J... whoops! Sorry about that.

Josh wanted to order pancakes but Caitlin talked him into the Dis-favorite "Tonga Toast". He loved it!

On my to do list for next trip. :thumbsup2

It certainly did! Such lovely young ladies. And, yeah, the guys are all right too.

Guess what Caitlin was doing while we walked?

Singing a song? Doing a little dance? Showing everyone her ring? :rolleyes1

Thanks for the update! :goodvibes

Great update! I am so excited for our Kona ADR on our upcoming trip. Now I don't know what to order though! I was set on Tonga Toast, but your platter sounds great and that fruit plate looked AMAZING. Sounds like you guys had a great DIS meet breakfast. I can't wait to see what Epcot has in store.

Aww! I don't know what else to say except that you have very good taste

I wonder if it's Disney that's strict or the DIS?
I'm not sure but it was really convenient leaving the car there while we spent the day at Epcot!

EXACTLY! :)

GO JETS GO! GO JETS GO! GO J... whoops! Sorry about that.
We're Wings fans but we'll let that slide.

On my to do list for next trip. :thumbsup2

Hope you enjoy it!

Well there had been some showing off of the ring. Queen, Jasmine and Jeff were the first friends who she got to show it to. :)

Nice pic!

I hope you enjoy Kona as much as we always do!
We all enjoyed our meals so you can't go wrong with any of them!
We had a great time at breakfast and the fun was just beginning! :)

I was so excited to hear from you guys that day and SO bummed because I could hardly hear a thing, since I was on the tram leading to the Busch Gardens. It was pulling away just as you all called!!!!!! Arrrgh! So frustrating, but so nice to receive that call!

I so wished I could have been there, but now I am so looking forward to meeting everyone at F&W 2012! Reservation booked! :thumbsup2 All the East Meets West Girls booked today for an October 17th arrival! We are actually trying to plan a special DIS event, so I will keep you posted and have specifically asked that it NOT be October 20th!!!!!!! We actually have an email out to La Cava to see if we might be able to rent it for a private event and then we are planning a DIS meet for all available DISers. Fingers crossed that it works out!

I will be back later to look at pics because I can't wait to see 4 of my favorite DIS girls all together! :goodvibes

 on being booked for F&W!!

A DisMeet at LaCava sounds great! In Caitlin's next update you'll hear about our visit there with Queen :)

Those food pics look amazing. That fresh fruit - yum! Nice group shot! That's definitely a keeper and its so nice to see the two clans together.

Caitline - you got some great shots, but I especially love the flag pic and that end. I have a thing about the American flag and this is so unique. Great job.

Ok - I am now hungry for Tonga Toast! :rotfl:

Great update! Kona has been on my list for a while but for dinner, I might have to add Breakfast to that list. That Tonga toast looks god, and the macadamia nut pancakes sound good too. Glad your meet turned out so well, can't wait to hear more about your day!

What a nice breakfast! It sounds like you all had a wonderful time! :goodvibes Ahh I really really REALLYYY want some Kona breakfast right now. That would be just lovely. :lovestruc

I thought the food pics came out well and I really like the group pic too. When you have that many people in a picture I always worry how it's going to turn out.

Caitlin says "thank you"

Thank you. We really like Kona and highly recommend it for breakfast and lunch! (we've never had dinner there)
