Hi everyone!!! I am going to attempt to write a trip report here. I've tried in the past, got really busy, and then just never finished. But I will do better with this one! Scout's Honor!!! (I'm a Cub Scout & Girl Scout leader & DH is a Boy Scout leader so gotta stick to this one now, lol!)
A little background on this trip, ya know the who, what, where, & why....
Who: Me, Jenna, 38 y.o. mother of 3, wife to 1, sister to 0, etc.
The Other Who: DH, Nate, 37 y.o. father to the same 3, husband to 1 (that I know of ), and my all-around favorite person in the world.
What: Our 15th Anniversary trip
Where: Where else?!
Why: Because if I don't get a vacation alone with my husband, you may soon find me in a corner curled up in a fetal position sucking my thumb. Not really, but you get the idea.
A little more background: Nate & I were married at the gorgeous Wedding Pavilion at WDW back in May 1996. He had only been to Disney once (oh the horror!) before that when he was 12. I had countless Disney trips under my belt since my parents would frequently take me there on vacation. So you could guess who the driving factor was in a Disney Wedding! But not to worry, I've since converted Nate to a Disney-lover. On one of our trips together, we rented points at OKW from a DVC member and stayed at a 1 br. villa. We were blown away by the size of it! Seriously, it was bigger than out first apartment. We knew DVC was in our future & have been members since March '07.
And some more background: This trip was supposed to happen in June to celebrate our 15th anniversary. But didn't. And I for days. There was no living with me. We had the trip booked for 4 nights at the VWL right after the kids got out of school. They were going to be staying with their Grandparents on the other side of the state (PA). Nate's mom worked in a school as an IS aide so she had summers off too and would be able to watch them. They were going to Grandma's, I was going to Disney...it was a win/win all around.
But then dum, dum, dum (my [pathetic] attempt at cueing the music for the bad part of the story), Nate realized he just couldn't finish up his jobs, that had deadlines while we would be away, before we left. He is self-employed so there was no one to fall back on. So the day before we were supposed to leave, we had to call DVC and tell them the bad news. Actually, Nate made that call. I couldn't talk through the tears. Yeah, I was that bad.
So being that we cancelled so close (understatement) to our arrival date, our points went into holding. We would need to use these points before the end of our use year, in our case November 30th, and we would have to book within 60 days of our travel date. So time to figure out when this trip could happen. If it could happen at all.....
Next up: Revelations.....
