Thanksgiving Feast at Disney's Aulani Resort

$85 per adult and $73 per child. I know Hawaii is more expensive than WDW (we're bracing ourselves for our trip to Aulani next June), but $73 for a 3-year old to eat a couple of slices of fruit and some chicken fingers is just flat-out ridiculous...

I agree! Welcome to Hawaii:rotfl2:

The $73 for kids ages 3-9 *IS* ridiculous and I speak as a local! It won't be character themed but you'd do much better going off property. Or the prices at 'Ama'ama or Makahiki may be more reasonable. :rotfl:

I know that I certainly wouldn't pay for that with 2 kids that fit in that age group. :)

Agreed! We have a reservation at AMA AMA at noon on Thanksgiving but not sure if we will keep it as they didn't have a menu to review and I have some picky eaters. I also found Plumeria Beach House at The Kahala Resort has a Thanksgiving brunch and dinner buffet but I think that is quite a trek from Ko'Olina, is that correct? Price is $70 per person so quite pricey as well.

The Kahala is essentially the opposite side of the island from Aulani (along the south shore) so yes, it would be quite the trek. Traffic should be relatively light on Thanksgiving itself though so I'd suspect that you could make the drive in about 45 minutes?

Yes, $70/adult is still pricey but at least kids 6-12 are $35 and kids younger than 6 would be free (this of course doesn't help in your situation with older kids ;) ). Food at the Kahala is very good in general. Hoku's (the signature restaurant at the Kahala) would be a step up in quality but would be a plated course menu instead of a buffet (personal preference) and would also be slightly more expensive.

Whoops, just realized that Hoku's is doing a Thanksgiving brunch buffet too on Thanksgiving day - still more expensive than Plumeria Beach House but I tend to like it more in general.

OK. Hawaii is still America but these prices are REDONKULOUS! People, there are way better places to eat for a lot less money! The only way I would even think about paying that much is if there is lobster and top grade sushi. Heck locally, restuarants and grocery stores are offering full dinner meals for under $50. In fact that may be a way to do it if you have a kitchen since you could simply reheat the meal which in many cases you will need to.

I know Disney is Disney and HI is HI but there are other options since most of you are traveling on your dime to get here. Anyway be thankful that you were blessed to afford DVC in the first place. As a result it's time to save some money!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I definitely feel blessed but we are not DVC owners. Just enjoying the resort:) We are here now and we found AMA AMA restaurant to be very good. Ate there for lunch and much better quality of food and much better value as well. We will be going back tomorrow for Thanksgiving lunch!

The Thanksgiving Ohana Feast will feature Disney characters in the Kaiona Ballroom from 5:00pm to 7:30pm on November 24, 2011. The price is $84.99 and $72.99 for children (3-9 years old) and infants under 2 years are free

If the market will bear $73 for a 3 year old to "eat"....why can't the company charge at least $49 for an infant?
:confused3

:laughing::scared1::laughing:

73 for a little kid for thanksgiving feels like a mean thing to do to parents - and definitely not family friendly. Yes it's a choice , but come on. Love to hear from someone who went. The only way I could see it is if there is great entertainment so it's more of an experience than a meal. I have 2 little kids and I would feel really bad about those prices. That's almost 400 for a family of 4 for dinner. How can it be?

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Aulani and really enjoyed ourselves. We opted for lunch at AMA AMA to celebrate Thanksgiving (our flight home was at 7pm on Thanksgiving). AMA AMA was serving a lunch plate special with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, sweet potato casserole, salad, and cranberry sauce for $24.00 per person. It was delicious and so much food. We found lunch at AMA AMA to be pretty reasonable in comparison to other lunch options at Aulani.
