AAA Diamond Parking Pass

The people on this site are awesome - always so helpful! Thanks for the replies on my previous posts, by the way. Someone had brought up a $10 AAA Diamond Parking Pass to park at spots very close to the front -- is this pass able to be used for onsite guests who already don't pay for parking? It sounds like a good idea and a fair deal for the price, so I guess I just want to make sure it's legit :) Thanks very much for the replies to come! Much appreciated for a first time WDW couple. Have a great day.

AAA Diamond Passes are non-transferrable. They are not supposed to be sold. They also have expiration dates.

The only legit way to get them is to be a AAA member and get them at your local AAA office. 99% of the time you have to have gotten your Disney tickets or package through AAA. You can call your AAA office to inquire about them.

I personally would not buy it online. Too much iffy for me, especially if you are not a AAA member.

My understanding of the AAA parking passes is that they are only LEGALLY obtainable when you purchase a Disney package through AAA. Selling them on eBay is supposed to be illegal. I know that availability varies from state to state, so you should call your local office to find out what their rules are.

You can use the pass to park in the designated AAA area, which is generally closer to the park entrances. Availability is limited. You could use them irrespective of whether you are a resort guest or not. Hope this helps.

Same "deal" as purchasing partially used non-transferable park tickets. Could you get away with it; maybe. Is it "legit"; no. BTW, we get our pass free from AAA when we purchase our legit park tickets there. Others have to purchase an entire package. Check with your AAA office to see what the needed purchase is to get you the pass. BTW, the pass only entitles you to a better parking location. It does not let you park for free. You still have to pay the $14 fee if you are not staying on property.

We got our Diamond parking pass because we booked through AAA. It is clearly marked on the pamphlet that parking is subject to availability, voucher required, black out dates apply, nontransferable and void if sold. So, I wouldn't encourage buying one off of ebay, either. We stayed on property, so we could park for free and in a "preferred" area with the AAA pass. At Epcot & AK this was near the handicapped area. We arrived early and got good spots. If you stay off property, the pass won't get you free parking, just closer, dependent on availability.

The AAA diamond parking pass is only legit if someone at AAA gives it to you as a part of WDW package you purchased from them. If you look closely on them, it says "non transferable", which means it is only valid to the person it was originally issued to. Those folks selling them on eBay won't tell you that because they want your money. Folks who purchase and use fraudulent passes are taking parking spots from legitimate AAA members who come along later and can't find a spot. The deal you heard about is definitely not legit. :)

I'm in the process of getting tickets from AAA also. They said I would get VIP parking pass. Is that the same as the Diamond parking pass?

Also for 3 ten day no exp. tickets through AAA it is about $140 more than getting them through dwtickets. Is it worth going through AAA and paying more to get this parking pass?

Thanks!

That would be $14 a day to get closer parking, IMO so not worth it. But if you are staying offsite then it might be a good deal as you would be paying for parking anyway, may as well get closer.

Also, just to clarify, parking fees still apply. If you're staying onsite, obviously you don't have to pay. But if you're offsite, you will have to pay the $14. The AAA pass just gives you a spot closer to the front of the lot! And I have seen them sell for anywhere from $4 to $25 on eBay!

AAA site quote is with the taxes already applied. Disney ticket site doesn't add tax till you go to check out. That is where the difference is. AAA IS cheaper than buying directly through Disney. I go directly to my AAA office to pick them up so I don't have to pay the shipping fee.

Depending on your AAA office they may or may not give you the pass with a ticket purchase. I only got the pass when I purchased a package through them, but not when I just purchased tickets.

huh, thanks. Didn't even think of that.

I used to work at AAA. The AAA discount on tickets is only with 3 days or longer - the more days your purchase, the bigger the discount. For instance, 3 days the discount is minimal but 10 days is more significant. 1 and 2 day tickets are the same price as Disney.

As for the diamond parking pass, it is included with your Disney package if you book through AAA. Some offices will give you a pass just if you are a member or if you purchase only tickets at the office. It depends on the office so you can always check. Recent diamond parking passes have travel dates and names printed on them so I don't know how the parking attendants would react if they see an "old" parking pass. I'd also be wary of buying them online for this reason, in addition to the fact that they are non transferrable.

As you indicated, it varies between offices. I just went three weeks ago and purchased 3 day tickets at my local AAA office. They gave me the Diamond pass. It did not have a name or dates on it. Just that it was for 2011. I believe if they are part of a vacation package they have names and travel dates on them.

I just went into an AAA office and asked for the parking pass; all I had to do was show them my AAA card. They asked if I needed park tickets, and I said I already had them. No problem.

Different AAA offices will have different policies. You could go into one office and get the parking pass just for asking. you could go to another office, and be told that you have to buy tickets and then you get the parking pass. Other officies will tell you that you have to buy a complete package through them.
But in any case....it is clearly stated that these parking passes are not for sale and they are not transferrable. So, basically anyone who buys one is paying for something that someone got for free. It is against AAA policies to sell these on eBay or to give them to someone else.
With that in mind, do what you are comfortable with. Do you get much better parking? Sometimes. But, not always.

True... it can even vary by sales associate in the offices. If someone asked for one, I would check to see if they have a packaged booked. If they didn't, I would check to see how many years they've been a member, if they've been loyal, if they have a membership/towing balance, etc. If they were in good standing, I'd usually give them a pass.

We used one on our trip at the end of September. There was no name or date printed on the pass, only that it was a 2011 pass.

I'm not sure I'd pay for one (setting aside the legalities of it), we found the parking to be very hit or miss. Were never able to use it at AK, and the other parks only gave a slight advantage. It wouldn't be worth the money to buy it in my opinion.

Nobody checks to see if you are really a member when you use the AAA diamond parking pass. We have been here for 8 days and used it every day and parked at the front of the parking lot. I got a pass off ebay for $10. It is a REAL/VALID AAA parking pass for 2011. Am I a AAA member? No. Did the pass work for me? Yes. The passes they sell on Ebay are legit passes. I don't know how they get them but they do and they sell them. I haven't had one person ask me to prove I am a AAA member.

Did that pass of yours have the words "non transferable" printed on it? Yes it did. If you did not receive that pass directly from an AAA office, then it is fraudulent and definitely not valid, plain and simple. Did you get away with theft of services? Yes you did. Congratulations. :sad2:

:thumbsup2 I totally agree. I AM a AAA member and I do purchase my package through AAA for the pass. Yes, it does bother me that people choose to go around the system for something that members receive as a benefit.

We have had our pass looked at during busy times of the year and the ones we have received do have names and dates printed on them.
